Cuyahoga County Republican Party's Anti-Gun Platform

I received a letter in the mail today from, Jim Irvine, Chairman of Buckeye Firearms Association, regarding the proposed RPCC Platform. In it he asks fellow Central Committee members for their support in defeating this anti-freedom platform, and inserting strong language in support of your Second Amendment rights.

I will be posting more on the proposed RPCC platform in the next day or so, and will include some of the email comments. For varying reasons, many RPCC Central Committee members are voicing their opposition.

In a post on their site, Buckeye Firearms points out how the home rule language in the proposed platform is in direct conflict with a strong statement sent by every Republican member of the House in the the overide of Gov. Taft on HB 347.

The Cuyahoga County Republican Party is holding a meeting on Wednesday, July 25th to adopt the party platform. A platform is a basic template of ideas the party openly supports. Candidates are encouraged (sometimes pressured) to take positions in agreement with the platform, though they are not required to be 100% in agreement.

The draft which has been sent to Central Committee members for approval contains shocking and disturbing goals for gun owners. They seek to “Oppose the efforts to curtail constitutional home rule in such areas as…gun control…”

Buckeye Firearms Association will work with our friends within the party to defeat this dangerous plank. More....

  1. didn't they kill 6 people in one day up there? That should be enough reason for no guns allowed.

If there was more gun control maybe Dick Cheney would not shoot his hunting partners.

  2. yes, you are correct. There has been many shootings and killings in Cleveland recently. Most likely we will set a record for murder this year.

But these tragedies are not enough and nothing will ever be enough to take away our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

While some of the guns used in the recent killings were legally owned, this is a rarity. Most guns used in the commission of a crime are illegally owned firearms.

You rarely see a legal gun owner using a firearm other than for its' intended purpose, hunting, protection, target practice & collecting.

Cheney was careless and lucky! Lucky the guy did not die!

When hunting, you ALWAYS know where your hunting party members and dogs are. You NEVER fire, even with a clear line of fire, if you have the slightest doubt about someone's position you do NOT take the shot.

The birds will be there another day, if you are careless, your hunting partners and dogs may not!

Let me ask, if guns are outlawed and people start using kitchen knives to kill people - do we move to ban them next?

The increase in violence can be tied to the erosion of standards and morals created by years of liberal thinking and policies.

If you want to decrease gun violence strengthen the laws against illegal guns. Do not attack legal firearm owners.

One of the shooters was a cop. Do you think we should we get rid of all cops to solve that problem? I hope for the party's sake you are not a Republican.
