Scott marches out this weeks #109th Carnival of Ohio Politics in memory of a wounded warrior and President, the late JFK. This is fitting on two fronts.....

1.) Another battle scarred hero will be looking to lead our nation.

2.) The primary is opening wounds and creating battle-scarred bloggers.

So off we go into the wild blue yonder of Ohio politics....

Since part of the campaign narrative this year will involve a battle-scarred war hero, it might do to dedicate Carnival #109 to PT-109 and the man who commanded her, LTJG (and later President) John F. Kennedy.

By the way, "PT" stands for "Patrol torpedo."

Pho has molded, formed and constructed a towering edition for this weeks 101st Carnival of Ohio Politics. In constructing this bi-partisan portal to Ohio political blogs, and heaping praise on all the great submissions, Pho tells us his is bigger......

We're thinking big for the 101st Carnival. As in the biggest -- or at least tallest -- building in the world. The honor currently goes to the Taipei 101 Tower in Taipei, Taiwan. That may change as four proposed buildings would rise higher. It seems that any number of countries in Asia and the Middle East want to prove their prominence by building the world's tallest building. Meanwhile, in post-9/11 America, our attitude seems to be "Tall buildings? No, we don't have tall buildings here. Move along, nothing to see."And for those of you keeping score at home, Cleveland's Key Tower is the tallest in Ohio and 38th overall among extant buildings. More....

Carnival of Ohio Politics #91

It was Jill from WLST's turn to be ring leader of the Carnival of Ohio Politics #91. Jill feels this weeks theme of, MC Hammer's - "U Can't Touch This," is appropriate to describe politicians that think the song was made for them.

I believe the real "U Can't Touch This," for this week is the way the media and lefty bloggers REFUSED to touch Attorney General Marc Dann's Anti-Christian remarks in his emails.

But do not fear - Conservative blogger, Matt Hurley, of WMD, and myself "Hammered" away at Dann's offensive emails.

Welcome to the U Can't Touch This version of the Carnival of Ohio Politics - that's Issue #91 from 11/8/91.

I like the theme of U Can't Touch This because of how untouchable some politicians seem to be or try to be. One thing is for sure - u can't touch this Carnival of Ohio Politics with a version from any other state. We definitely have an untouchable compendium of bloggers around here. More....

I kept coming back to I-90 as I searched for just the right image, it's a road I've traveled often I'm sure many more than 90 times, and with it being the longest interstate highway in the United States at nearly 3,100 miles thought it was special enough to be the image for the 90th Carnival of Ohio Politics. As I was searching for images related to number 86, even though I'm not a Steelers fan, this one caught my eye. Not just because it is number 86, it is my last name and I am a fan of the NFL but because football can be like politics. A quote attributed to John F. Ben from the Keeler Report was on the hot seat for this weeks edition. And as usual Ben, doing the impossible, does another knock out job with Carnival #85!

#85 was a tough number to think of a theme for. Almost impossible actually. So I took the easy way out and dedicated this edition of the Carnival to the man who was Ohio Governor in 1985, Dick Celeste. He was a controversial figure in Ohio politics, as many old timers (relatively speaking) know. Celeste won election in 1982, taking over for the term limited Republican Jim Rhodes. Celeste won a second term in 1986 by defeating Rhodes. Until this year, he was the last Democratic Governor of Ohio. Anyways, here we go........

Strickland's proposed budget "crocodile tears." Finally, a look for what passes as cutting edge Internet usage in a municipal government.

Tom at BizzyBlog says Strickland's effort to cash in early on the tobacco settlement is one more "I told you so" for critics of the agreement between states and tobacco companies.

Politics In Mudville provides photos of an anti-war protest which he joined in Toledo and offers observations and commentary.

Ben at the Keeler Political Report observes the Cleveland Plain Dealer is now reporting on the Kent State professor who has professed support for Islamic militants - which is more than can be said of most other local media.

King's Right Site says Cleveland's black leaders are ripping off black workers. Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority expenditures are exposed. Finally, the King finds it ironic that a professor who called for death to those who vote Republican is now complaining of death threats to herself.

Dayton Daily News education reporter Scott Elliott at Get on the Bus notes the new Strickland budget appears to take some promised building funds away from school districts in favor of a short-term income boost for the state. Meanwhile, it is noted school choice proponents are clearly in the governor's crosshairs.
