Will the Real Bryan Williams Please Stand Up? Part 1

There has been a lot of talk and back and forth of the Ohio Republican Party and the Chairman Bob Paduchik.  During the recent races for Ohio Republican Party (ORP) State Central Committee (SCC) races, many good people were running for a change.  They wanted to see some new blood injected into the SCC offices and in ORP itself. And it is needed - but let's do it right!

ORP Vice-Chair & Summit County GOP Chair Bryan Williams is looking to be the new chair.  Williams is trying to fast track a new vote through sleight of hand and slick talking before the SCC members and grassroots finds out about his swampy and scandal plagued past.

Conflicts of Interest

At the ORP endorsement meeting held in February, citing a conflict of interest, there was a push by State Central Committee members to stop other SCC Members with appointments from Governor DeWine or working for agencies under control of Governor DeWine from voting in the process.

While making motions to keep SoS Frank LaRose from being endorsed, Vice Chair Bryan Williams voted in support of the ORP endorsing Mike DeWine for Governor.

In his role as Summit County GOP Chairman, Bryan Williams had already showed his loyalty and allegiance to Governor DeWine and personally endorsed Mike DeWine for Governor in January 2022.

But wait it gets even better (swampier)!!!

Before Bryan Williams was a DeWine boy he was tip toeing through the swamp grass as a loyalist of The Never Trumper Son of a Mailman Governor John Kasich!

And being paid back for his loyalty to the Never Trump Kasich and then scandal ridden ORP Chairman Matt Borges - Bryan Williams was repaid with an appointment to State of Ohio School Board!

Well until he had to step down over another - conflict of interest! But that is what happens when you are a lobbyist playing both sides...

"While lobbying for the Associated Builders and Contractors of Ohio, a consortium of private construction companies, Williams chaired the state school board’s legislative and budget committee, representing the board before the legislature. He also sat on four other committees that set accountability and minimum standards for schools, defined educational options, and oversaw the hiring and evaluation of the state superintendent.

A financial disclosure form filed by Williams in May indicates that he received compensation from two entities, the state school board on which he serves, and Associated Builders and Contractors of Ohio, which he has described as an umbrella organization for the several regional ABC groups. (Read more...)"

And in rounding it off on the "great guy" that wants to be the next ORP Chair - Williams, in never letting the truth stand in his way - settled a defamation lawsuit from Steve Zoumberakis, owner of Quality Mold, a business Williams defamed during his 2003 Mayoral run...

Quality Mold and its CEO filed a complaint against Mr. Williams and his election committee, alleging that they had made false and defamatory statements about them. After one day of trial, the parties entered into a confidential settlement. Although the parties did not draft a written agreement, the settlement's terms were confirmed before the trial court. Mr. Williams agreed to pay Quality Mold $25,000, with the understanding that, if he paid $1000 per month for fifteen months, he would not have to pay the other $10,000. (Read more...)

This was also referred to the Ohio Election Commission, who found probable cause that Williams broke Ohio’s false statement statute.

This is just a little of why Bryan Williams as next ORP chair a huge step is backwards.  There is plenty of time between now and January to find someone with integrity that will move Ohio forward!

We Can and must do better - there is no need to rush to elect just another long time Ohio Swamp Rat masquerading as a good guy!

Change for changes sake is how we got Joe Biden!  Stay tuned for more!  Much more!

Donald Trump AGAIN betrays Supporters in Ohio!

Donald Trump has just again betrayed his supporters & Ohio voters! At his rally in Delaware, OH today Donald Trump just endorsed Mike DeWine's buddy & one of the top Ohio Swampers - Never Trumper's & self-described Team Kasich member Frank LaRose.

This would be the same LaRose that refused to strengthen the law to keep illegal immigrants & DACA from voting in OH & illegally cancelled elections in OH.

So now Trump has endorsed two people who have betrayed his supporters & Ohio voters! This endorsement reeks of Quid Pro Quo of Trump trying to get LaRose to endorse JD Vance! This my friend is by definition SWAMP! This is the same type of SWAMP shi* we have been fighting against!

What makes this endorsement reek of swamp & betrayal just as much and if not more than Trumps

Looks like more & more Trump's swamp-like endorsements are a way to identify swampers & who to vote against!

Coalition of Ohio Groups Oppose Online Voter Registration

A coalition of citizens groups
opposes online voter registration, S.B. 63

January 24, 2016

Dear Legislator:

S.B. 63, the online voter registration bill, has raised concerns that it may further threaten Ohio's voter integrity. Ohio's elections process has been under some scrutiny over the last several years due to an increase in reported voter fraud cases, specifically (SOS Post-Election Voter Fraud Report May 2013) (SOS Report December 2013 Non-U.S. Citizens Register and Vote in the Battleground State of Ohio). Franklin County reported more than ninety cases of double voting in the 2012 Presidential Election as reported in the Columbus Dispatch in June of 2013.

In addition, nineteen indictments were handed down in Hamilton County. A state-wide citizens' audit of Ohio county BOE's conducted in the aftermath of the 2012 Presidential Election also indicated a number of irregularities and suspicious activity through eyewitness accounts. What is clear in these reports is that voter fraud is a growing problem in the battleground State of Ohio, and more measures need to be enacted to get out in front of the problem. Although some legislative election reform measures have been passed addressing some of the concerns, more work needs to be done. Ohio is a must-win state for the campaigns, and there are those who would seek an advantage by trying to game the system.

To open online voter registration at this time would be ill-advised. There are a number of questions and concerns regarding the security of the online access and process of voter registration that S.B. 63 proposes. What the general public has learned over the last two years is that no website is secure from hackers.

When the secure websites of The Pentagon, The White House and other government agencies have been hacked, then the suggestion that this website will be safe is purely conjecture and wishful thinking. The list is long of major corporate websites that assured their users their websites were secure, yet have been victimized by the hacker and information contained therein disseminated. The list of victims reported by the media is long indeed, including the industries of banking, entertainment, major retailers, and others. They have all had their websites hacked and information stolen.

When it comes to the value of the voting process in our Republic, we need to proceed with extreme caution before the suggestion of online voter registration is seriously considered. This is no time for a cavalier attitude concerning the voter integrity process in Ohio.

At a minimum, implementation of any such legislative proposal should be delayed until 2017, and a trial run should be conducted to assure that the security of the website can be verified before full implementation.

The following groups oppose S.B. 63 in its current form.

Sincerely,

Christopher Long, President, Ohio Christian Alliance

BEGINS AT 10 AM- ARRIVE 20 MINUTES BEFORE

IT IS VITAL FOR MANY OF US TO ATTEND THIS HEARING

Each person who testifies next Tuesday is to bring thirty copies of their testimony.

Senator Hughes office asks that we keep it as brief as possible - five minutes or less. It was suggested that we actually make it four minutes or less and then it gives us an opportunity to ask if they have any questions.

They have started a new procedure - they ask us when we arrive to sign in and after our signature they would like us to put an estimate for the length of time of our testimony.

SENATE BILL 35 sponsored by Senators Bill Seitz (R - Cincinnati) and Jimmy Stewart (R - Albany) would mandate that the Ohio Attorney General pursue a memorandum of agreement with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement to deputize Ohio law enforcement officers as immigration enforcement officers. This would provide for the enforcement of both criminal and civil violations of immigration law. This memorandum agreement is commonly referred to as a 287(g) program.

The bill language below is also available at: http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=128_SB_35

SENATE BILL 150 sponsored by Senator Gary Cates (R-West Chester), would provide that a board of county commissioners may direct a sheriff to take custody of persons who are being detained for deportation or who are charged with criminal violations of immigration law and to expressly authorize state and local employees and county sheriffs to render assistance to federal immigration officials in the investigation and enforcement of federal immigration law. Senate Bill 150 is a reintroduction of the last general assembly's Senate Bill 260, which contained the same provisions. The bill text is currently in the Senate State and Local Government and Veterans Affairs Committee.

NORAD Trains for Terrorist Attack Over N/W Ohio

But will we be protected from the full frontal assault of the progressives in office terrorizing this country with their socialist, share the wealth, the "State" does it better views?

From National Terror Alert --
The 180th Air National Guard at Toledo Express Airport trained for a terrorist attack Thursday. They were part of a NORAD exercise where two armed F-16’s took flight to intercept a passenger jet possibly hijacked by terrorists.

Michael Cornell, Director of Owens Community Colleg’s Center for Preparedness, says “It’s just another example of how well the country is working to prepare for what many feel is an inevitable attack.”

Cornell believes a terrorist attack is imminent, citing the failed Christmas Day bomber in Detroit. However, Cornell believes the U.S. has come a long way, but says there’s always room for growth and preparedness training. “I don’t think we’re where we need to be, but (we’re) a lot better off than we were five to ten years ago.”

Is State Auditor Mary Taylor Chickening Out?

If this is true.... State Auditor Mary Taylor should be ashamed and shows she is no better than the rest of the politicians. Taylor was easily the best State Auditor OH had in a long time. The women found untold millions of wasted tax payer dollars.

I understand she may have been worried about the size of her campaign chest and that the dolts in the ORP were not supporting her enough. Like that's a surprise!

The PD --
State Auditor Mary Taylor will not seek re-election and instead will be introduced Thursday as the running mate for Republican gubernatorial hopeful John Kasich, a GOP source told The Plain Dealer. More....

Ohio ranked #4 in "Business Climate"

After reading this I checked the calendar to make sure it was not April 1st...
Site Selection magazine has ranked Ohio No. 4 on its list of the “top ten business climates” in 2009, an improvement of three spots from last year, the magazine said Monday, Nov. 2.

Also in March, the state received from the magazine its third consecutive “Governor’s Cup award,” its fourth in six years of the magazine’s competition.

“The ranking does not say the economy is wonderful,” said Mark Arend, editor-in-chief for Site Selection magazine. Instead, the ranking gauges the costs of business expansions, the level of bureaucratic “red tape” and taxation, he said.
(Springfield News)

Even more jaw-dropping is our "Smart as a Goose" Governor's remarks...
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland said the ranking didn’t surprise him.

“In spite of this economy, we have really focused on trying to make Ohio an attractive place for investment,” Strickland said. “Quite frankly, that’s why I fought as hard as I could with this budget to keep from raising taxes.”

It is not often that I am speechless!

Cap & Trade will increase OH jobs?

I was never one to put too much in studies. Anyone can create, conduct or fabricate a study so the end results are to their benefit or the the desires of the people paying them to conduct the study.

(Cuyahoga County residents -- Remember the Greater Cleveland PArtnership did a study telling us the Med Mart should go on Sam Miller's swampland?)

This below study that claims that Cap & Trade will create jobs in OH and through magical math eventually increase household income...
The more a congressional climate-change bill cracks down on greenhouse-gas emissions, the better the long-term prospects for Ohio's economy, according to a report yesterday by renewable-energy business advocates.

Ohio would gain up to 61,000 jobs by 2020 and see its economy grow by $3.7 billion if a stringent climate-change bill becomes law, says the report released by the Ohio Business Council for a Clean Economy.

There would be some short-term increases to Ohio's energy costs, acknowledged Eric Zimmer of Tipping Point Renewable Energy, one of the businesses that released the study and a member of the clean economy council.

But a strict carbon cap would soon lead to energy-efficiency savings and alternative energy innovation, and by 2020 the average household income would increase by $992, in 2008 dollars, the study says. (Columbus Dispatch)

Without even getting into the argument of how many OH coal workers this will put out of work, what good does the 2008 dollar value do for us in 2020? The way the economy is going the U.S. dollar will problably not even exist in 2020.

Anti-Issue 3 Hypocrites; Jeff Jacobs & Truth PAC

I will be posting a video about this a little later today, but here is a story done by the not fit to line a bird cage with or potty train a puppy on local fishwrap - the Plain Duller.

It appears that Jeff Jacobs, the money behind Truth Pac (anti-Issue 3), after not being able to secure a private deal with Penn National Gaming and Cav's owner Dan Gilbert, the players pushing Issue 3 for casino's in Ohio, only decided to come out against Issue 3 after he could not protect his out-of-state gambling interests.

Sounds like Jacobs feels gambling is OK as long as HE is making money on it!

The PD --

In March, Cleveland developer Jeff Jacobs made one last effort to deal himself in on the Issue 3 casino plan and threatened to spend part of his vast wealth to oppose the measure if he didn't get his way.

In an e-mail to three executives from Penn National Gaming, the Pennsylvania company bankrolling Issue 3 along with Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert, Jacobs warned that he had already hired a nationally known campaign strategist to defeat the proposal.

"Before I gear up for this effort I thought that I would throw out one last proposal for you to consider," Jacobs wrote to Steven Snyder, Eric Schippers and Tim Wilmott.

Under the proposed deal, the casinos would have shared profits with Jacobs' race track and entertainment businesses in exchange for those businesses signing on to a non-compete agreement.

But the deal didn't happen and Jacobs, who now calls the casino proposal a bad deal for Ohio, is funding a campaign against it. He acknowledged through a spokeswoman Wednesday that he wrote the e-mail, but said it was being taken out of context by the Issue 3 side.

In the e-mail, Jacobs expressed concern that Issue 3, the November ballot issue that would place casinos in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Toledo, would harm business at the state's horse racing tracks and his Nautica complex in the Flats.

Jacobs also has interests in a horse racing track near Columbus and casinos in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. In the e-mail, he floated a deal that would place electronic slot machines at five race tracks and Nautica, and they would agree not to compete with the full-service casino games.

"In exchange for this long-term non-compete agreement, your three developments would pay 'x' percentage of annual gross revenue to these six affected entities," Jacobs wrote. More...

Jacob's sounds more like a South Side Shake Down artist to me!

Tell Senator Brown & Senator Voinovich -- No Illegals in 2010 Census County!

An important action alert from our friend, Steve Salvi, Founder of OJJPAC.org....

Your help needed immediately to support Vitter Amendment!

Critical Issue: Ohio to be harmed by 2010 Census if illegal aliens included in count!

Background: U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) plans to submit an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, and Science appropriations bill to address the problem of illegal aliens skewing the 2010 Census results. The Vitter amendment would require the U.S. Census Bureau to add questions regarding immigration & citizenship status to the 2010 decennial census.

If the amendment fails, illegal aliens will be counted in the census and states that have large populations of illegals will unfairly gain Congressional seats and Ohio will likely loose one or more Congressional districts and therefore have less influence in Congress and in future presidential elections.

What should you do?

Please call Ohio's U.S. Senators' Sherrod Brown and George Voinovich and urge them to support Sen. Vitter's census amendment. Call the Washington DC office and or their district offices in Ohio.

What should you say when the staff answers the phone?

"Please ask the Senator to support Senator Vitter's amendment to the Commerce, Justice, and Science appropriations bill to protect Ohio from losing one or more Congressional districts. If illegal aliens are counted during the 2010 Census, states like California, Texas, and New York will likely gain Congressional districts and Ohio will lose one or more districts. Thank you."

Vice President Joe "The Mouth" Biden coming to Cleveland

One has to wonder why Biden is coming to Clevelandto attend a fundraiser for two democrat congressman that don't even represent this area....

From Cleveland Tea Party Patriots --
Like Santa... Joe Biden is coming to town! Well Obama would be Santa -- Biden would be like Joe the Elf --but close enough and you get the point. Biden will be in town to attend a fund raiser for Rep. John Boccieri and Rep. Zack Space. I trust these two do not need an introduction.
Here's one measure of how worried Democratic strategists are about next fall's congressional elections: Freshman Rep. John Boccieri of Alliance and second-termer Zack Space of New Philadelphia are telling supporters that Vice President Joe Biden will be raising money for them in Cleveland on Oct. 26th. (Cleveland.com)
Being the gracious hosts that we are here in Cleveland-- of course we will give them a warm welcome! Clear your calendar for that date and stay tuned for details.

The answer to that question is.... because in Cuyahoga County the GOP donates just as much to the democrat candidates & causes as the democrats do and they would not be able to raise money for these two congressional clowns in the conservative areas that they represent.

Take Ohio Back for Ohio

From the Cleveland Tea Party Patriots --

Fellow Tea Party Patriots

As we continue the fight to save our country, we must not lose sight of the problems plaguing our state of Ohio. AS we all know, and as numerous reports, studies, and polls show, due to archaic tax laws and business killing policies - Ohio is dying a slow death.

As witnessed with our blown state budget, which is now akin to a Grand Canyon size gap, we must also concentrate our efforts here at home.

It is time for us to "Take Ohio Back for Ohio"

There is currently a package of 10 "job creating, tax-lowering, student & economic development -friendly" proposals in the Ohio House Economic Development Committee that are not only receiving no attention -- but they are being ignored. We cannot allow this to happen!

The Tea Party Patriots and all our fellow conservative groups in OH must save our state from hemorrhaging more jobs and further plunging into an economic abyss - we must Take Ohio Back for Ohio!

Our first step is to get educated on the "Future of Ohio" package languishing in the OH House. We have contacted the office of State Rep. Nan Baker (R-Westlake), the ranking minority leader on the OH House Economic Development Committee, & State Rep. Todd Snitchler (R-Uniontown) for more information on these proposals....

"Future of Ohio"
  • Employer tax credit to hire unemployed Ohioans: H.B. 277 (Todd Snitchler) would authorize a nonrefundable tax credit for hiring and employing previously unemployed individuals. Ohio businesses that hire previously unemployed individuals will receive a $2,400 tax credit for each such employee that they employ. Each credit will be claimable for up to two years so long as the employee was unemployed for four consecutive weeks immediately preceding their hiring date; the employee is lawfully employable in the United States; and the employee is continuously employed by the employer claiming the credit for a period of two years.

  • Small business capital loans: This bill would authorize the creation of a low to zero interest loan program for small businesses through the local business linked deposit program.

  • Tax credits for Ohio graduates: H.B. 144 (Cheryl Grossman) would grant an income tax credit eliminating tax liability for five years for individuals who obtain a baccalaureate degree and who reside in Ohio. Eliminating the state income tax liability for graduates will allow them to use the extra money to help pay back their student loans and other debts incurred during college, as well as attract college students from other states.

  • Tax credits for specialized crafts: This bill would apply the income tax provisions of H.B. 144 to any person in a trade who has reached the journeyman status or its equivalent.

  • Estate tax relief: This bill would reduce the estate tax, authorize townships and municipal corporations to exempt from the estate tax by initiative any estate property located in the township or municipal corporation, and distribute all estate tax revenue originating in a township or municipal corporation that does not exempt property from the tax to the township or municipal corporation of origin.

  • Small business regulatory reforms – S.B. Companion 3 (Keith Faber): S.B. 3, a package of small business reforms, is currently under consideration in the House State Government Committee and has been under debate since mid-March. In order to expedite passage of S.B. 3’s key provisions, we drafted companion legislation covering three key proposals to help businesses cut through bureaucratic red tape and provide accountability in crafting agency regulations.

  • Small business resource portal: This bill would direct ODOD to create an online small business resource center (expanding upon the existing Ohio Business Gateway) on its internet website, to serve as a clearinghouse of information relevant to Ohio businesses.

  • Private Sector compensatory timeS.B. 17 Companion (Kevin Coughlin): This proposal would provide more flexibility, allowing an employer to instead provide compensatory time, or paid time off of work. The intent of this legislation is to enable employers to provide a more family friendly work environment by providing flexibility for their employees. S.B. 17

  • Tracking job placement success: This bill would require the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to submit annually to the leaders of the General Assembly a copy of the report submitted to the United States Department of Labor pursuant to the federal Workforce Investment Act and to make a copy of the report available on the department's website.

  • Analyzing company exodus: This bill would require the Ohio Department of Development to produce a report of companies that have relocated out of Ohio, develop a standard questionnaire to elicit the reasons why those companies have chosen to leave Ohio, and share its findings with the legislature.
You can click here to read the press release.

Now -- to get this going, with the same energy we've already shown in our battle against a country-killing Cap & Trade bill and government run health care, we are asking phone calls, emails and letters be sent to Gov. Strickland, OH House Speaker Rep. Armond Budish, Democrat members on the OH House Economic Development Committee & your local OH State Rep's and urge them to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to saving jobs and saving our state!

OH Supreme Court Rules 'Back Door Tax' on Groceries is OK

Since we are not already burdened with too many taxes in OH our robed Republican rubes riding the big bench in Columbus ruled it is OK for gross receipts of grocery stores to be taxed...

The Ohio Supreme Court ruled the state can continue to collect a business tax when it’s applied to grocery store food sales, avoiding what could have been an $188 million annual hole in the state budget.

In a 6-1 decision, the court upheld the collection of the Commercial Activities Tax on food sold by grocery stores and others for offsite consumption. The Ohio Grocers Association had argued that applying the tax to food sales violated the state Constitution, which prohibits sales taxes on the sale of food that’s taken off store premises to eat.

The tax amounts to 26 cents per $100 in sales over $1 million, or a flat rate of $150 for the first $1 million in sales, as long as sales are above $150,000. State tax officials estimate the portion of the tax collected on food receipts would amount to about $188 million a year.

Lawmakers have called the tax as one levied on the privilege of doing business in Ohio, but grocers argued the payment amounted to a sales tax.

The court rejected that argument, noting that state laws are given a strong presumption of constitutionality and that the court was required to uphold the tax if it may “plausibly be determined as permissible.” (Canton Repository)

Help State Sen. Tim Grendell Stop Corrupt Public Employees from crying "Victimhood"

The one State Senator willing to stand for something and the one we can continually count on as truly being a voice for OH residents down in Columbus is again fighting to protect our best interest.

State Senator Tim Grendell, unlike many other elected officials, see's a problem or something wrong and he acts. Grendell wants to close the loophole in OH law allowing some elected officials & public employees convicted of corruption from collecting thier pensions.

State legislators passed the pension forfeiture law last year following a series of public scandals ranging from Ohio Gov. Bob Taft and Coingate to an embezzling downstate sheriff. The crimes triggering forfeiture include bribery, a pattern of corrupt activity and theft in office.

But it appears most of the eight public employees found guilty so far in the federal probe have jobs that do not fall within thescope of the state forfeiture law. Only J. Kevin Kelley could be affected -- and only because of his role as an elected Parma school board member, not in his position with the Cuyahoga County engineer's office.

Convicted employees must hold jobs of sufficient importance to lose their pensions. Positions include elected officials, members of boards or commissions appointed by the governor or attorney general, public employees required to file disclosure statements with the state, prosecutors and law directors, as well as local and state police.

"You're trying to get the guys who can improperly benefit from the use of public funds," Grendell said.

Speaking on the Bob Frantz Show the other evening, Senator Grendell is urging everyone to contact your State Senator and ask they join him in sponsoring this legislation.

Strickland's School Funding Blunder Opens Door for Obamacation of Our Children

After some empty & costly political posturing by Senate President Bill Harris (R) the residents of OH were saddled with a Gov. Strickland crafted smoke and mirrors budget, that may go down in flames depending on the OH Supreme Court ruling on slots.

In this budget Gov. Strickland was supposed to finally deliver on his campaign promise of fixing school funding in Ohio. And what a fix we got! Instead of cutting the bureaucrat BS and forcing schools to decrease the costs weighed down by far too many administrators running our districts, we find the students (and parents) will be short changed.

From the PD
For the next two years, public-school students in grades four and seven won't take a writing test in the spring. And fifth- and eighth-graders won't take a social-studies test.

That means only high school students will continue to be tested in those subjects for now.

The change was part of a cost-slashing state budget passed over the summer. Not having to prepare and score the tests will save the Ohio Department of Education almost $9 million over the two years.

"Our budget for assessments was cut by 21 percent," said Stan Heffner, an associate superintendent with the department. "The only way to hit the target was to suspend tests."

People this is a load of scholastically crafted crap!

By going to the State of OH Auditor site and typing in "School Performance Audits" you will find that untold millions can be saved in our districts. A cursory review of School Performance Audits will show you that this cost saving tool has already saved some districts from hundreds of thousands upwards to millions of tax payer dollars by cutting wasteful spending.

So if we took the 633 school districts across the state and through the use of School Performance Audits were able to save $500,000 per district -- this would lead to over $300 million in savings by cutting the fat. I guess for us stupid voters this logical fix is too easy. Plus the NEA, ODE and the teachers unions would be up in arms if they were no longer allowed to fleece the residents with the approval of our elected officials.

So to sum up the $9 million shortfall excuse being used because of budget cuts -- AGAIN -- it is scholastically crafted BS! I would defy any elected official or school official try arguing that point. In fact, I dare them!

Now onto the cutting of the tests. Believe it or not, according to the PD article state scores show...
84 percent of Ohio fourth-graders and 80 percent of seventh-graders passed writing last school year.

62 percent of the state's fifth-graders and 51 percent of eighth-graders got passing scores on that test. Just 15 of the 97 districts in Northeast Ohio met the passage-rate goal for eighth-graders.

So if the kids can read and write -- why can't they perform well in social studies?

In my uneducated, got kicked out of class as a hobby opinion I would say it is a lack of teaching -- not a lack of money. But as is typical of the school bureaucrat's they make up excuses using the students as an alibi for poor teaching...
Why have kids had such a hard time with the social studies test?

Part of the answer may lie in the fact that it came on the fourth day of testing. By that time, students had endured 71/2 hours of reading, math and science exams.

But the main problem was that the subject wasn't tested every year, as math and reading are, said Sandy Williams. She works with teachers as an instructional consultant with the Mahoning County Educational Service Center and is the Northeast Ohio representative to the Ohio Council for the Social Studies.

The social studies test that was given in fifth grade also covered material introduced in grades three and four, Williams explained. The eighth-grade test might have asked about something the student learned in grade six or seven.
Boy some nerve - huh? Asking an 8th grader something they learned in 6th or 7th grade. The sadistic SOB's... this is nothing short of child abuse!

I guess a real simple fix of placing the tests where they perform the worst first and where they perform the best last would be too logical. Or God forbid... an 8th grade teacher reinforcing past teachings and continuing on from them would be a terrible thing too.
So big deal about social studies right?

Social Studies -- covers a half-dozen areas such as history, government and geography -- so who cares if our children know about the true history of our country, how our government is run or where the hell Iran is. By allowing this downward slide in social studies it will be much easier to teach our children - "Obamacation" - where the instructions teach how bad of a country we are and we must apologize for our past perceived transgressions, how the government is there to support and do things for you and the only geographic locations they need to know is where the D.C. Red Shed (formerly the White House) is located.

The kick off for replacing education as we once knew it with Obamacation is on Sept. 8th when Chairman Obamao will become a temporary substitute teacher and address our children, without your supervision during school hours.

Anti- Gun Senator George Voinovich continues his charade of pretending to support 2nd Amendment

I just love when politicians try and rationalize their votes. Here we have the ever famous curious conservative - Curious George RINOvich - doing his best to convince angry gun supporters from OH he really is pro-gun and supports our 2nd Amendment...

From Buckeye Firearms --

On July 22, 2009, Senator George Voinovich (R-Ohio) voted against a national reciprocity amendment that would have allowed persons with a concealed handgun license to carry their guns in most other states (Amendment 1618 to S1390). Later, in trying to explain his vote, Voinovich told told editors at the Columbus Dispatch that the Republican party's biggest problem is that Ohioans just can't relate to pro-gun Republicans from the South.

And now, one month later, via a letter of response to angry constituents, Voinovich is trying to explain that he is really their friend. If you believe that, he probably has some great swampland in Florida to sell you too.

Senator Voinovich starts his letter by quoting the Second Amendment. Maybe he should try reading it himself. He then mentions his co-signing an amicus brief in the Heller v D.C. gun case and a couple other pro-gun votes. While those are nice, it does not make him pro-gun.

George Voinovich is like a child molester that lists out some good things he has done, as if that offsets the bad things. That is not the way I measure my friends, or my legislators. More...
