Indiana Teacher calls kindergarten student "Stupid & Pathetic"

An Indiana kindergarten teacher, Kristen Woodward, was suspended indefinitely for publicly berating and humiliating a 5 year old in her class.

After continually being told that the teacher is mean and calls him names the students parents sent him to school with a tape recorder in his pants. What they heard will blow your mind...

From ABC News --
"I've been more than nice to you all year long and you've been ignorant, selfish, self-absorbed, the whole thing! I'm done!" Woodward says to Gabriel on the tape.

She continues: "Something needs to be done because you are pathetic! If me saying these words to you hurt, I hope it does because you're hurting everyone else around you."

"So you guys think, is that somebody you want to be with?" Woodward asks the class. In unison, the other students reply, "Noooo."

"See, your friend doesn't want to be with you. I don't know what else to tell you. So you're not going to have friends because of your actions."

Shocked? Speechless? So am I! Even more shocking is that someone would even try and justify this teachers remarks and conduct.

Never fear - the Indiana Teachers Association is defending the teacher and her remarks...
Carol Mooney, a spokeswoman with the Indiana State Teachers Association, told the New Albany News and Tribune newspaper that Woodward is well liked by co-workers, parents and students and that she had trouble with Gabriel all year.

"What do you say to a kid who's rolling around, punching, biting, kicking? What can a teacher do?" Mooney said to the newspaper. More...

Sounds like a good description of Ralph King in Bedford.

  3. Anon #1 - The kid has a learning diisabilty, there were never any bad reports sent home on the kid.

I am all for corporal punishment - but not belittlement of a child, regardless of his behavior.

Anon #2 - you must have been someone I proved wrong. It's OK it happens to a lot of people.

Please note God did not put me on this planet to win a popularity contest or make friends. I do what I believe is the right thing to do.

I would be remiss if I did not point this out - you forgot arrogant, opinionated, a smart ass and MAN enough to use my name when criticizing someone!

  5. corporal punishment IS belittlement of a child's behavior. if the kid is a special needs kid, he should be in a special needs class. i suspect that the only thing he is in special need of is a swat across the ass. maybe obama should put rodney king on his campaign staff to head up the "can't we all just get along" initiative.

  6. anon - corporal punishment IS NOT belittlement of a childs behavior. I consider it "Positive Reinforcement." Positive reinforcement because they can be positive their little back ends will be reinforced with a paddle.

LD students, depending on their affliction, are not above being paddled either.

Maybe you are unaware of it but - corporal punishment IS STILL legal in Ohio. Fear of lawsuits and the liberal sissification of our country has diminished its' use tremendously.
