Iraqi Citizens Suing Companies Over UN Oil-for-Food

I love it!

From Conservative Voice --

Seven Iraqi citizens filed an almost quarter-billion dollar lawsuit. The Iraqi's lawsuit accuses a large European bank and a wheat exporter of corruption in United Nations' oil-for-food program. Both companies have offices in the United States and the lawsuit was filed in New York City.

According to court papers, the lawsuit alleges that the companies BNP Paribas Bank and AWB Limited, the largest goods provider under the oil-for-food program, cheated Iraqi citizens of the Dokuk and Sulaimaniyah areas between1999 and when the US-led coalition toppled Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003.

The Iraqi plaintiffs claim that the residents were denied the full benefits that they were entitled to, accusing the companies of transferring money into Saddam Hussein's government and providing other kickbacks to Iraqi officials.

A 2005 U.N. report found that nearly 2,200 companies paid almost $2 billion in kickbacks to Hussein's Ba'athist government.

The plaintiffs should have also named the corrupt U. N. in the lawsuit.

Democrats don't know how to stop Iran

Emboldened by the U.N.'s refusal to condemn Ahmadinejad's recent statements towards Israel, Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, says they will make the United States regret the detention of 5 alleged Iranian Diplomats who were arrested earlier this year in Iraq.
"We will make the Americans regret their ugly and illegal action against the Islamic Republic of Iran's consulate in Arbil, Iraq, and the abduction of the five Iranian diplomats," Mottaki said, according to the state broadcaster's Web site.
Senator Joe Lieberman, being smart enough to realize that Iran is leaning towards going to the gold standard, is trying to further destabilize the U.S. dollar, is playing games with oil production are moving closer to nuclear weapon capability every day and is continuing to meddle in Iraq, all of which have national security implications, rightfully rattles the sabre with talks of bombing Iran.

Sen. Joseph Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut and chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, said over the weekend the United States should be prepared to use military force to stop Iran from training and equipping Iraqi militants blamed for the deaths of U.S. troops in Iraq.

Iran has denied supplying Iraqis with armor-piercing munitions and U.S. officials say they cannot prove complicity on the part of the Tehran government.

But Lieberman, appearing on CBS' Sunday program "Face the Nation," said the United States had "good evidence" that Iraqis were being trained to use the weapons at a camp inside Iran. He advocated a military strike in retaliation, saying much of the job could be done with air strikes.

Playing into the hands of his terrorist buddies, defeatist Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid undermines Lieberman in usual democrat fashion by stating .....

"The invasion of (Iran) is only going to destabilize that part of the world more," Reid said on Monday after speaking at a forum hosted by the Center for American Progress think tank.

"I know Joe means well, but I don't agree with him," the Nevada Democrat added. He advocated continued diplomatic efforts with Iran instead.

Continued diplomatic efforts? They throw criminals off cliffs in burlap sacks! How do you negotiate with that mentality?

France Protests UN over Iranian Nuke Program

Well this has not happened in a long time! France, finally getting a set of balls, is taking sides with the United States over the useless U.N., on the Iranian Nuke Program.

If they keep acting like this, I will have to change my tag line.

From Iran Focus --

France will add its voice to protests by the United States over UN nuclear chief Mohamed ElBaradei's comments that Iran should be allowed to keep some uranium enrichment, officials said Wednesday.

"Our permanent representative in Vienna will join the American initiative," said a foreign ministry spokesman. "We share, along with several other partners, the substance of the concerns expressed by our American partners."

The United States is seeking to protest directly to ElBaradei for saying in recent newspaper interviews that Iran should be allowed to keep some uranium enrichment, diplomats said in Vienna, the headquarters of International Atomic Energy Agency.

"France continues to support the process undertaken by the (UN) Security Council, including insisting on suspension (of uranium enrichment) and, if there is no suspension, sanctions," said France's foreign ministry spokesman. More.....
