Girliemen of the Week Award: Gutless GOP Wonders
Girliemen of the Week
Date Awarded: April 02, 2010
Girliemen: Gutless GOP Wonders
Girlie Antics: Running from a tough fightIf these Gutless GOP Wonders were around during the American Revolution, we’d all be singing ‘God Save the Queen. They would have whined: "We know King George III is heavy handed, but we don’t think Independence is a viable alternative. It’s just too hard for a few pissed off, poorly armed colonists to defeat the most powerful nation on Earth."
If these Gutless GOP Wonders were around after December 7, 1941, we’d be a colony of the Imperial Japanese Empire. They would have whined: "We know that the Japanese begged for it, when they attacked us, without warning, but we don’t think going to war is a viable alternative. Their military might is impressive. Their weapons are superior. Their soldiers, sailors and airmen are all battle-hardened by years of conflict. We’re undermanned, ill-equipped, and unprepared. Victory is a longshot for us, so it’s not worth the effort in a losing cause."
Now, with a determined enemy entrenched in positions of political power, the Gutless GOP Wonders, especially those fossils in the Senate - Mexas’s John Cornyn, South Carolina’s Lindsey Grahmnesty, for example - are beating a hasty retreat from another 'do, or die trying', fight, which we can’t afford to lose. I refer, of course, to a mid-term campaign built around the repeal of DemonCare. Now they say, "It’s too hard and success is far from assured. We think it’s better to crawl back under our rocks while the Demoncrats eviscerate the U.S. Constitution, and destroy the American Dream."
It’s with the utmost revulsion and disgust, that I name these Gutless GOP Wonders the Politically Incorrect Gazette’s Girliemen of the Week.

Girlieman of the Week Award: Mike Huckabee
From Politically Incorrect Gazette --
Girlieman of the Week
Date Awarded: December 04, 2009
Girlieman: Mike Huckabee
Girlie Antics: "The buck doesn’t stop here."The nicest thing I can say about this Huckabee loser is this: Mikey’s Harry Truman impression needs work. Apparently, for Mike Huckabee, 'the buck stops anywhere, but here'. In fact, instead of accepting his part of the blame for commuting the sentence of that rat bastard who mowed down 4 police officers in Lakewood, Washington, Mikey went gutless and girlie, by blaming everyone else:
Mike Huckabee, who as Arkansas governor commuted the sentence of the man suspected of killing four Lakewood Police officers, said Monday night his "heart is broken" but insisted that prosecutors and judges were derelict in keeping Maurice Clemmons from returning to prison. (Seattle Post-Intelligencer)
I’ve had my fill of gutless and girlie assholes with delusions of grandeur. I've had my fill of craven, finger-pointing, cowards who sleaze their way into the Oval Office. I''ve had my fill, to put it bluntly, of Mike Huckabee. With his abject failure to accept any responsibility for his own actions, Mikey has proven himself UNFIT for the presidency.
If Mikey REALLY had the right ‘leadership’ stuff, he would have owned up to his critical role in Maurice Clemmons’ release from custody. Instead, his first instinct was to do a Bart Simpson, by bleating "I didn’t do it." For passing the buck, instead of accepting it...for shifting the blame, instead of shouldering it...for trying to vote "present", when it comes to Mauricce Clemmons’ release from prison, Mike ‘Holier Than Thou’ Huckabee is the Politically Incorrect Gazette’s Girlieman of the Week.

Boehner on the NY-23 Race
But.... with his invoking of Reagan's 11th Commandment - " A Republican should never speak bad about another Republican," makes me wonder if he really get's "it."

53 Republicans Demand Firing of Gay Activist as 'Safe Schools Czar'
From The Hill Blog --
Dear Mr. President,
We respectfully request that you remove Kevin Jennings, the Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, from your Administration. It is clear that Mr. Jennings lacks the appropriate qualifications and ethical standards to serve in this capacity. As the founder of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Mr. Jennings has played an integral role in promoting homosexuality and pushing a pro-homosexual agenda in America’s schools—an agenda that runs counter to the values that many parents desire to instill in their children. As evidence of this, Mr. Jennings wrote the foreword for a book titled Queering Elementary Education: Advancing the Dialogue About Sexualities and Schooling. Throughout his career, Mr. Jennings has made it his mission to establish special protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students to the exclusion of all other students. The totality of Mr. Jennings’ career has been to advocate for public affirmation of homosexuality. There is more to safe and drug free schools than can be accomplished from the narrow view of Mr. Jennings who has, for more than 20 years, almost exclusively focused on promoting the homosexual agenda.
Equally troubling is Mr. Jennings’ self-described history of ignoring the sexual abuse of a child. In his book, One Teacher in Ten, Mr. Jennings recounts a 15-year old student confiding in him that he had a sexual relationship with a much older man. Mr. Jennings’ only response was to ask if the underage boy used a condom. As a mandatory reporter, Mr. Jennings was required by law to report child abuse, including sex crimes. Mr. Jennings cannot serve as the “safe schools” czar when his record demonstrates a willingness to overlook the sexual abuse of a child.
As the “safe schools” czar, Mr. Jennings is also charged with ensuring our schools and students are drug free. It is clear that Mr. Jennings is unfit to serve in this capacity, as well. His own history of unrepentant drug and alcohol abuse indicates that he is of the opinion that getting drunk and high as a young person is acceptable. In his memoir, Mama’s Boy, Preacher’s Son, Mr. Jennings describes his use of illegal drugs, without expressing regret or acknowledging the devastating effects illegal drug use can have on a person’s life.
Everyone that deals with the education of the most vulnerable must be a positive role model. Our children are not blessed with the wisdom to discern and reject. Children presume the adults who educate them are approved by the larger society and their parents. Kevin Jennings cannot gain the approval of parents who want their children safe and their schools drug free. You should replace him with someone who has a record of educating children in a safe and moral environment.
Given these very serious issues with Mr. Jennings’ record, we urge you to remove him immediately.
Sincerely,
KING
A blogger who calls himself Beetle Blogger cited another statement from Jennings about his early promotion of homosexuality in schools.
The blogger quoted Jennings saying..."We immediately seized upon the opponent's calling card – safety – and explained how homophobia represents a threats to students' safety by creating a climate where violence, name-calling, health problems, and suicide are common. Titling our report, 'Making Schools Safe for Gay and Lesbian Youth,' we automatically threw our opponents onto the defensive and stole their best line of attack. This … short-circuited their arguments and left them back-peddling from day one." (WND)

RINO Sphincter becomes a Democrat
Veteran Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania abruptly switched parties Tuesday, a move intended to boost his re-election chances that also pushed Democrats within one seat of a 60-vote filibuster-resistant majority.
"I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans," Specter said in a statement posted on a Web site devoted to Pennsylvania politics and confirmed by his office. Several Senate officials said a formal announcement was expected at mid-afternoon.
But even before the event took place, Specter attended a Senate subcommittee hearing on the swine flu outbreak and took a seat on the Democratic side of the dais. More...
The only bad thing about this is, most likely Democrat Al Franken will win the recount between Republican Senator Norm Coleman (MN), he would become the party's 60th vote. Because of Sphincter's exodus, the Democrats would have a filibuster proof majority. Because of this, President Barack "Have you seen my plane" Obama and Vice Punk Biden have warmly embraced Sphincter's defection from the GOP.
I will predict that come primary election time, the Democrat love for Sphincter will be tossed away like a used condom at a gay bath house, he will have a Democrat opponent and Senawhore Sphincter will be soundly spanked.

In Praise of Black Conservatives
From ALG --
No word is more overused in public discourse today than ‘courage.’ A loyal viewer hailed CBS for its courage in producing Swingtown, the now defunct series detailing the sexual infidelities of married couples in the 70s (bedhopping on network TV — what a daring concept). Sean Penn was dubbed courageous for his nauseating Oscar acceptance speech, as are most liberal entertainers who spew left-wing tripe before adoring audiences.
But if going verbally against the (real or perceived) grain of public opinion defines courage, then should we not salute those black Americans who are not celebrating the presidency of Barack Obama? Black Americans who didn’t vote for Obama are statistically insignificant, though we harbor that sliver of hope that Michael Steele will be the one to attract the masses of black voters that Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice never did. Nonetheless, they can inspire us — with American rationality numbed by Obama-mania, soon we may all be black conservatives.Just before the election, popandpolitics.com profiled Joe Hicks, a conservative radio host in Los Angeles. Hicks also heads a nonpartisan think tank that focuses on issues of race in society. He numbers among the fewer than 1 in 10 black voters who supported the McCain/Palin ticket. He is one of those described as “the marginalized of the marginalized.” A proud liberal for much of his life, when he came out as a conservative, he heard the familiar calls of ‘Uncle Tom,’ ‘Traitor’ and ‘Sellout’ from his colleagues.
Certainly some black conservatives were torn between their ideology and their racial identity, wanting to be part of history in electing Barack Obama. Former GOP Congressman J.C. Watts expressed his indecision and we all know how Colin Powell opted — but then was he ever a conservative in the first place?
Dena, who I met through a conservative website, was never undecided. She is a black single mother who, like Hicks, lives in Los Angeles. She proudly supported McCain/Palin (which, in LA, is brave in itself). Also like Hicks, she was a liberal for much of her life. She desperately wants more for herself and her son. She would love to be married someday, though in the meantime she relies on her own grit and determination and the support of friends and her church to help her through tough times. She reveres Dr. King’s memory and one of her greatest recollections is of having once seen Rosa Parks. Not only does President Obama not factor into her unwavering optimism, she can’t stand the guy, mainly for his stances on abortion and increasing dependency on the federal government, referring to him merely by his first and third initials.
If Joe Hicks and Dena — and Alan Keyes and Larry Elder and Star Parker and Thomas Sowell — don’t amount to profiles in courage, they certainly earn points for marching to their own beat. Conservatism has never been chic, but now with Obama it is all but marginalized and black conservatives are often more reviled than their white counterparts. They are perceived as betraying the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement and, thus, their own people. Few were offended that Clarence Thomas was portrayed as a lawn jockey in editorial cartoons. Even moderate Republican Condoleeza Rice was graphically depicted in Civil War-era stereotype for her loyalty to President Bush and barely an eyebrow was raised. Certainly knowing that our nation’s major parties are both headed by black men should make Americans proudly aware of our progress, but that fact has yet to resonate. It’s still Barack Obama’s moment. Say what you will about them, black conservatives have little to gain personally by standing on conviction. In the words of Joe Hicks, “If I wanted to be on the winning side, I’d be sitting here telling you how great Obama is.”
Maybe because black conservatives are so few in number they stand out more. Perhaps I am gushing in the manner of a white liberal, but I can attest that black conservatives are among the most dedicated, hardworking activists I know of. They are among the most optimistic, too — they don’t complain about being called ‘Uncle Tom’ nearly as much as we complain for them.
If Barack Obama truly represents as post-racial America, then his presidency does offer us some reason to applaud. Nonetheless, the colorblind society he supposedly embodies before adoring crowds, I have already seen — thanks to black conservatives (and other unheralded black Americans in everyday life). They quietly forge ahead as, again, the marginalized of the marginalized. But they are too focused to ask for any fanfare. Dena once noted that a sad legacy of the Civil Rights Movement was the notion that black Americans must march in lockstep ideologically, but she has little idea of the range and importance of her lonely voice in the arena of
public discourse. Joe Hicks is equally unmoved: “I’m conservative. I’m Republican. Beyond that, I find the whole racial component a bit odd.”

More Wasteful Pork Spending in Ohio
The group, Taxpayers for Common Sense, is in the process of going through this bill itemizing pork projects and has so far found 8,570 disclosed earmarks worth $7.7 billion. This would be the same omnibus bill that political propagandist Maureen Dowd slammed Obamao on and praised - guess who - John McCain!
Other than House minority leader, John Boehner from West Chester, who has decried this wasteful spending --
"The president campaigned against this type of wasteful spending and frankly, he ought to veto the bill," Boehner said at a Wednesday press luncheon. "If he's really serious about getting rid of wasteful Washington spending, this would be a great example."
...the politicians in OH have their greedy little mitts out. If this money was being spent on running government and putting people back to work I would have no problem with it. But, just like the Ohio Senate proposal for the first round of spending from stimulus funds that Ohio received, this money will be creating little or no jobs for Ohioans and will expend minimal dollars on the billions in infrastructure repairs needed in our state.
Here are some of the requests by elected officials in DC representing this area...
Sen. Sherrod Brown
- $190,000 for the Children's Medical Center of Dayton's pediatric trauma unit and emergency center (also supported by Sen. George Voinovich and Rep. Michael Turner).
- $190,000 to build a nursing school at the Middletown Regional Health System (also supported by Voinovich).
- $466,000 for the Ohio-Israel Agriculture Initiative (also supported by Voinovich).
Sen. George Voinovich
- $95,000 for cataloguing and preservation activities at the Columbus Museum of Art
- $95,000 to help the Cleveland school district with technology upgrades to improve math, language and science proficiency (also supported by Brown).
- $404,000 for facilities and equipment at Mercy Medical Center in Canton (also supported by Rep. Zack Space).
Rep. Marcy Kaptur
- $122,821 for the Greater Toledo Arts Commission to market and develop support for local artists.
- $2.192 million for greenhouse and hydroponic research complex at University of Toledo (also supported by Brown and Voinovich.
- $381,000 for facilities and equipment for Hospice of the Western Reserve (also supported by Brown and Voinovich)
- $190,000 for North East Ohio Neighborhood Health Services for facilities and equipment
- $95,000 to the Cuyahoga County commissioners for a teacher training initiative (also supported by Voinovich).
- $1.225 million for runway improvements at Cuyahoga County Airport (also supported by Voinovich).
Kucinich's request for runway improvements is great - then we can fly people in to see the new water park on Euclid Ave when another Cleveland Water Dept line bursts. Then Voinovich can offer it as a new form of irrigation for his Ohio-Israel Agriculture Initiative.
Idiots!

Alan Keyes launches Loyal to Liberty Blog
Keyes, had a recent well aimed, cheek splitting - pin the tail on the jackass- post in which he calls Obama a communist...
Understanding this, the enemies of freedom do their best to limit or eliminate words that interfere with their design for despotism. They especially seek to stigmatize and discourage the use of words freighted with the sad and tragic history of tyranny and dictatorship. That's why the use of the word 'communist' to describe Barack Obama has aroused such furious diatribe and aspersion. Call him liberal. Call him socialist. Even call him a Marxist if you will. But communist is a dirty word, a cheap shot, just resentful name calling.
"Of course, it wasn't a dirty word when Marx or Engels used it to describe their ideology, or when Lenin wielded it to rally his forces on behalf of the proletariat..."
"...it's easy to understand why folks who are looking, waddling and quacking like communists would rather we called them messiahs." More...
And quacks they are!

More Democrats looking at Voinovich's Seat
The democrats looking to take the Senate seat held by Senator George Voinovich, who will be retiring when his term is up, are coming out of the woodwork. The two known Democrats for this seat are - Lt. Governor Lee Fisher and SecRATary of State Jennifer Brunner. Rev. Strickland has publicly endorsed his flunky Fisher.
Now tossing their hat in the ring for the democrats is the former vice-Mayor of Cincy - State Representative Tyrone K. Yates (D-33rd District). Also, Cuyahoga County Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones, a former State Rep., is showing his interest and has started a 527 named - Peter Lawson Jones for America.
With hardly any name recognition outside their hometowns, I doubt either of these guys could even be considered a serious challenger against Fisher or Brunner - but it will make the democrat primary for Voinovich's seat interesting and enjoyable to watch.
While I did not vote for him, Peter Lawson Jones is the one Cuy. Co. Commissioner who has consistently voted against much of the BS being shoveled here. Though I would not want him as our Senator.
On the Republican side, I believe Rob Portman is the only declared candidate. John Kasich has not declared his intentions of running for this seat or for Governor. Many in our party want Kasich as Governor - I think he would be good in either position.
And lastly, a couple weeks ago I heard a blurb on the radio that Tom Ganley of the Ganley Car Dealerships has voiced some interest for the seat. Outside of Cuyahoga County, Ganley would face the same name recognition problems as PLJ and Yates.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele on Conservative Values & Conservative Cool-Aid Drinkers
RNC Chairman Michael Steele, in an interview with Mike Gallagher, has made it very clear, very, very clear on where the GOP stands on several of our core beliefs, especially that the institution of marriage is between one man and one woman...
Gallagher raised the question, "Is this a time when Republicans ought to consider some sort of alternative to redefining marriage and maybe in the road, down the road to civil unions. Do you favor civil unions?"Exactly! There is no difference!
"No, no no. Why would we backslide on a core, founding value of this country? I mean this isn’t something that you just kind of like, 'Oh well, today I feel, you know, loosey-goosey on marriage,'" Steele said.
He continued, "I mean this is a foundational principle of this country. This is a foundational principle of organized society. This isn't something that in America we decided, 'Let's make it between a man and a woman, and oh, we changed our mind and make it between anyone and anyone.'"
"So no room even for a conversation about civil unions in your mind?" Gallagher asked.
"What’s the difference?" Steele responded.
A civil union is nothing more than same-sex marriage with a Haloweeny costume on it. Not only is it like putting lipstick on a pig - but it's putting lipstick on someone/something that it does not belong.
And how does Chairman Steele feel about the cool-aid drinking Republicans like ORP Chairman Kevin DeWine who wants to hang out in the big tent and play hop-scotch with liberals and Democrats...
If Chairman Steele is reaffirming our position on the defense of marriage as one of the main principals of our party - then I think it would only make sense that the State GOP & County GOP groups feel the same way. I believe this should also include that our state and county parties not only "saying" they believe in our principals - but standing strong in defending them. But he said he didn't need "to water down my values to have you be a part of my team."
"I'm here to tell you I know what our identity is," Steele said. "We're the conservative party in America."
"We believe in the right to life, the right to bear arms, to live our lives as God has ordained it, fiscal responsibility. I don't need the government to come in and redefine it for me."
And this leads to the point of this post and where I get confused...
Here in our wonderful little corner of America called Cuyahoga County several communities have enacted that lipstick wearing pig known as the Domestic Registry. Now icing up that slippery slope with frigid water from Lake Erie - the City of Cleveland will, without a vote of the residents, be enacting a Domestic Registry too. Cleveland's Domestic Registry, sponsored by Cleveland Clowncilman Joe Cimperman, is being used to promote the Gay Olympics & Gay Rodeo the City of Cleveland will be hoping to host.
For all the, "Are there any conservative leaders in Cuyahoga County Sparky's," it doesn't stop there! Nope - now Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson is again trying to outlaw your right to own and carry a firearm.
So if there are any conservative leaders or an active & effective GOP party in Cuyahoga County - where is the outcry against this full-frontal assault on our Constitution and our conservative values?
We can only hope that one day conservatives in this area will have a voice. But then - we can't be afraid to use it!

Porkulus I ignores money owed to US Soldiers
Since Bush is out of office - we will concentrate on PBO and the looney left running our country. Yes, as our soldiers forced to serve on extended duty are still waiting to receive their promised bonuses. Porkulus I will purchase millions of dollars worth of automobiles for DC, $30 million for saving Ninny Pelosi's mouse and other untold billions of dollars on nothing that will help our country get out of this mess. But why would we do the right thing and pay the guys THAT ARE not only helping - but serving our country...
The Pentagon has not started complying with a law requiring the payment of monthly bonuses of up to $500 to soldiers forced to remain on active duty beyond their enlistment period, military officials said.
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman acknowledged the five-month delay in paying the bonuses and said the Defense Department is working on a plan to start paying the almost 13,000 soldiers currently under the Army's stop-loss orders. Although Defense Secretary Robert Gates wants to end the policy, the number of soldiers affected has risen since the middle of 2007.
Congress added $72 million to pay for the bonuses in its plan for the budget year that started Oct. 1. The money was to be paid after the Pentagon submitted a plan outlining how the payments would be made. (USA Today)
Let's see they force GM & Chrsyler to immediately submit a plan, then slam them for flying on private jets. Our congress has taken 5 months, still don't have a plan and gave themselves raises.
So I will ask this... with the elected officials in DC showing they obviously don't care about our troops protecting our country and our values - why the hell would someone think they care about us?

Mandel for Ohio Treasurer?
Others were from other parts of the state and are still largely unknown to Republicans here, like Josh Mandel, a state representative from northeast Ohio and a Marine Corps veteran if Iraq. He plans to take on Ohio Treasurer Kevin Boyce, a Columbus Democrat who was appointed to the job in December.Kevin who?
I will say one thing - if Josh decides to run for this position - run he does! The guy worked so hard he wore out a pair of shoes knocking doors in his last election. Boyce had better get som in-kind donations form Reebok!

Voinovich votes No on Stimulus Bull - Thank You!
The PD printed this following statement from Senator Voinovich...
"I keenly understand that Ohioans are hurting and our nation needs an economic shot in the arm. I worked towards and was prepared to support a package that put people back to work, injected needed capital into our economy and provided a safety net for families who the recession hit the hardest. I voted against this bill because it is weighed down by too much spending that is not stimulative and will not provide the jump-start our economy so desperately needs. Instead of funding federal responsibilities that are shovel-ready, like highways, sewers and housing, which would put people back to work quickly and the results of which would contribute to our nation's economic growth, this bill is filled with items that should be funded through the regular appropriations process and compete with other federal priorities in President Obama's budget request.
"Our nation is facing a catastrophic debt and this bill simply adds to that debt without fulfilling the well-accepted stimulus criteria that the funds be timely, targeted and temporary. It is irresponsible for us to attempt to save the present by mortgaging the future. It is my hope that my colleagues on the conference committee will get back to basics and do the work the American people are asking them to do: ensure that each and every dollar in this bill is focused on creating jobs, jump-starting the economy and responding to the human needs brought about by the deep recession our country is experiencing."
As Senator Voinovich refused to mortgage our future on a liberal wish list, Senatwhore Sherrod Brown swallowed all of Obama's big pork package with no problem. Senatwhore Brown mouthed the same empty rhetoric that President Barack O-Pimp Daddy has been trying to sell us about how this bill will create jobs and put people back to work.
The stimulus bill - will NOT create jobs immediately, in fact it will not even create jobs or get people back to work soon. I believe I have read somewhere that construction workers have the highest percentage of people not working or laid off. Stimulus supporters keep trying to sell everyone on the "shovel ready" infrastructure projects part of the bill as a way to create construction jobs. But when?
Being involved in all aspects of infrastructure construction, from planning & design to construction & completion - I can speak with some authority in this area. The term "shovel ready" regarding infrastructure projects is misleading for most people and I am truly confident the tormented electors throwing it around in D.C. have no real concept of what they are saying.
Here, using a standard road project & sewer reconstruction project in the City of Kingville I will review the work involved in starting one of the so-called "shovel ready" projects to begin; First we will have to assume that the project has been designed, and that all right of way and easement acquisitions are complete (depending on the scope of the project - these can be very time consuming). We will also assume that approval from all regulating agencies, that can range from the - EPA, Corp of Engineers, City Engineer, NEORSD, County Sanitary Engineers to the controlling water entity of that area.
With those tasks being complete, the project will be put out to bid (@1mth), after approval from council the bid is awarded. Once the bid has been awarded and the contract has been executed a Notice to Proceed (@2wks) is given and the project can begin. Right? Nope - that is just the first step.
A preconstruction meeting is held, we will assume within 2 weeks of Notice to Proceed, and present are all the utility companies - Gas, water, electric, cable, & phone. After coordinating with these entities and verifying there is no conflict with these existing utilities. If there is, relocating of the utility or redesigning this area of project is in order. Depending on the impact of the conflict - this can take anywhere from a couple days for redesign or up to weeks for the relocation work to be scheduled and then longer to be completed. (We will assume no relocation or redesign work is needed).
Usually somewhere between the Notice to Proceed and the preconstruction meeting the contractor will start ordering the material for the project and having the structures made. In most cases while the manufacturers will have standard structures (manholes, catch basins, pipe, etc...) in stock, but usually need to make the structures from the shop drawings approved for the project. Best case scenario for this time frame would be a minimum of 2 -4 weeks.
Now comes the big problem -- the city has to appropriate the money for the contract to be awarded. So as you see - if the cities were given the stimulus cash today - these shovel ready projects are at best, under optimum conditions and no delays, are at least 3 -4 months away from starting. In my opinion, a more realistic and reasonable view of a projected start date for these "shovel-ready" projects would be about 6-8 months - AFTER the stimulus funds are received.
It appears Senator Voinovich understands the value of these infrastructure projects as a way to jump start the economy and just as important, he recognizes that because of the inherent lag time of this work - time is of the essence for a good stimulus bill being passed. Unfortunately, Senator Voinovich and almost all the other intelligent Senators, were not given a good bill and were out voted by the Democrat Senatwhores.

Business is Booming for some in Poor Economy
From USA Today --
Despite the sharp economic downturn, lobbying spending in the nation's capital surged past $3 billion last year as industries and special-interest groups wooed Congress and federal agencies on a host of issues, including taxpayer bailouts for financial companies and automakers.
The record $3.3 billion lobbying price tag is up from $2.9 billion in 2007 and is more than double what was spent four years ago, according to records compiled by the non-partisan CQ MoneyLine.
Lobbying could soar to higher levels this year, he said, as Congress and President Obama hash out a $825 billion stimulus package that seeks to jump-start the economy with tax cuts and spending.
A wise man once told me - the "P" in politician can also spell prostitute - it looks like he is right again!

Unions get a "Two-fer" from Obama
Obama's nominee's for Labor Secretary, Rep. Hilda Solis (D-Calif.), the so-called "trail blazer," and his choice for Transportation Secretary, Rep. Ray LaHood (RINO-IL) are proof of the unions purchasing power...
From Open Secrets --
Labor unions, gearing up for a fierce fight on Capitol Hill next year, will find a fervent ally in Barack Obama's pick for Labor Secretary, Rep. Hilda Solis (D-Calif.), who has relied heavily on financial support from unions during her time in the House of Representatives. In total Solis has collected $888,050 from the labor sector since 1999, more than twice what she collected from her next most generous sector, which is made up of ideological groups. At least 15 of her top 20 contributors are labor unions, ranging from the United Auto Workers ($46,000) to the Carpenters & Joiners Union ($40,000). She has also collected $40,000 from the nation's largest public employee and health care workers union, AFSCME.
Her supporters will now be expecting her to return the favor. This will start with advocating for legislation that allows workers to unionize once more than 50 percent of a company's workforce signs union cards. Currently unions are formed through secret-ballot elections, which labor organizations say allow bosses to bully employees into voting against forming a union. As part of her new post, Solis is also expected to push "green" jobs. It doesn't appear Solis has received any money from the alternative energy industry during her time in Congress, and she has received scant money from the energy sector overall--a mere $94,350. In addition to unions, lawyers and law firms and women's issues groups have helped fund her campaigns, giving her $226,076 and $225,400, respectively. The PAC EMILY's List, which supports pro-choice female candidates, is her No. 1 donor, having given her at least $85,000.
Showing his bi-partisan side, Obama's choice for Transportation SecRATary, RINOcan Rep. La"union"Hood, from the Corruption State - IL - is in the back pockets of the unions also...
The first registered Republican to be appointed to Barack Obama's Cabinet, reportedly, holds another distinction--he is one of few GOP lawmakers whose campaigns have relied, in part, on transportation unions, a Democratic-leaning industry. Rep. Ray LaHood, who will officially take the position of Transportation Secretary next month, has collected $149,850 from transportation unions, making them his 8th most generous industry in the 14 years he's been in the House of Representatives. Historically these unions have heavily favored Democrats, just this cycle giving 87 percent of their total $14.7 million to Democratic candidates and committees. Next year they will be vying to shape the economic stimulus plan, which LaHood will help piece together. LaHood hails from Peoria, Ill., where unions, including the United Auto Workers, have had a strong presence.
During his congressional career, LaHood collected a total of $7 million, nearly $346,400 of which came from the transportation sector. The National Auto Dealers Association ($54,000) and Airline Pilots Association ($53,000) have been among his top donors. As Transportation Secretary, LaHood will be charged with creating jobs and building infrastructure, weighing the sometimes-competing interests of the various transportation industries. At $124,850, the automotive industry has contributed more to LaHood than the other industries in the sector. LaHood will oversee the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), among other key agencies in DOT.

Bailout Bums were largest donors for Political Conventions
From Open Secrets --
Weeks before they turned to the federal government for rescue, companies such as AIG, Ford, Citigroup and Freddie Mac were among the biggest sponsors of the summertime political conventions that nominated Barack Obama and John McCain for president, according to a new analysis by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, in collaboration with the Campaign Finance Institute. CFI's full study can be found at www.cfinst.org.
Embattled insurance giant American International Group (AIG), which received an $85 billion loan from the government just weeks after the GOP convention, gave $750,000 to each gathering. And AIG isn't the only high-profile company that sought a handout from taxpayers after writing a big check toward the summer's political gatherings. Others included Citigroup (which spent a total of $600,000 on the conventions), Goldman Sachs (which spent $505,000), Ford Motor Co. ($100,000 to each convention) and Bank of America (which spent $100,000, entirely on the Democratic convention). The federal government took over Freddie Mac just weeks after the mortgage buyer split half a million dollars between the two conventions. More...

Huckabee tells GOP Leaders "Quit Whining"
Out promoting his book, Do The Right Thing, Mike Huckabee pretty much said it was time for our party leaders to look in the mirror as to why we have been getting our behinds handed to us at the polls...
Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee had a message for his party's leadership, still licking its wounds after the November election, as he headed for Cincinnati on Tuesday for a book-signing session: Quit blaming others, and look at yourselves.
You hear these Republicans bragging about not raising taxes, when they've been spending out of control, racking up huge deficits and then kicking the can down the road," the former Arkansas governor told The Enquirer...
For the most part I liked Huckabee, but felt McCain was the best candidate we had that had a shot at winning. Huckabee also agrees McCain had a chance to win.
But Huckabee brings up a good point about why we lost - it is something that the rank & file have been saying for awhile... it is something our party leaders have been mouthing -- but not understanding.
Many blame the losses on social issues, like Ohio GOP Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine, and want to water down our core belief system - but this is NOT the answer - doing the right thing is the answer. Leading like drunken sailors and not being fiscally sound, or better yet - spending like democrats - is what led to our demise...
"Republicans didn't lose because they were social conservatives," said Huckabee, a former Baptist preacher who won the Iowa caucuses in January. "They lost because they have been irresponsible with the taxpayers' money."
That fact, Huckabee said, doomed GOP nominee John McCain and Republicans running for Congress from one end of the country to the other.
"If you advertise one thing and you deliver another, people are going to start reaching for another product off the shelf," he said.
Huckabee said that while "the headwinds were strong against Republicans" in 2008, he thinks McCain had a chance until he suspended his campaign in September to return to Washington to help fashion a Wall Street bailout package. (USA Today)
I agree suspending the campaign was a big, BIG mistake. But McCain returned to fix the mess the Republicans allowed the democrats to put our country in. Again, it was a mistake, but he was cleaning up the mess we allowed.

The GOP - Do We Still Have A Soul?
The GOP: Losing its Own Soul?
By Alex Rosenwald
There’s one thing all of the politicos seem to agree on from both sides of the Aisle, at either end at Pennsylvania Avenue: The Republican Party took a major hit this election year. With Barack Obama now in the White House, and Democrat gains in the House and Senate, many people now feel the GOP really has no relevant role in Washington anymore. Or does it?
Monday, The Washington Times ran a story at the top of Page One, above the fold, describing the feelings of Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), who paints a bleak picture for Republicans unless they get their act together soon. Cantor urges the Republican Party “to offer concrete solutions, rather than just “being content to offer principles.” He adds, “It’s the relevancy question.”
Well, Congressman, there’s no doubt that the GOP must offer some good problem-solving solutions, but what good is that if you have no moral compass to direct it? Or, as The Good Book puts it, “What profiteth a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?” The principles that guide any political party are of critical import to developing concrete solutions to the nation’s most pressing concerns. If the Republican Party wants to be relevant, it must rebuild its brand with conservative principles, like smaller government and lower taxes, to name a few. And then, it must offer “concrete solutions.”
Unfortunately, the GOP didn’t get off to a very good start in Chicago yesterday, where President-elect Obama and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) met to “seek common ground” and “move on” from the past election season, according to an article in TheState.com. Alongside Mr. McCain was close friend, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). According to the report, Mr. McCain and company intended to bring a more bi-partisan tone to the Republican platform.
Now, no shock there, Mr. Graham mentions that there are “areas of bi-partisan solutions [that] are needed.” And there goes the ballgame.
Earth to Mr. Graham: To the Democrats, “bi-partisan” is a code word for “vivisection.” Republicans must not buy into the narrative that their political adversaries have written for them, which is little more than a preemptive obituary.
When Republicans win, the Democrats launch holy war. There is no insult, attack or underhanded assault that could possibly be considered out of bounds. But when the Democrats and liberals win, both parties are supposed to join hands and sing kumbayah. Sure, the Democrats want to bury the hatchet—right in the Republicans’ backs. This is a prescription for disaster and a generation of irrelevance. Mr. Obama should be challenged and fought every step of the way.
There are countless examples of bi-partisan bills that have failed. The Financial Bailout of 2008, supported by Senators McCain and Obama, has only increased the national debt and put the Country in a more challenging downward spiral. Others include: Campaign Finance “Reform, which banned soft money. There is No Child Left Behind, which spends excessive federal money on a program that has produced miserably for helping improve the quality of education in America. And then, there is “The Prescription Drug Benefit”, notably the largest expansion of the welfare state
since the LBJ Years--to name a few of the bi-partisan “achievements” in Washington. Now, let’s go back to the bedrock question: is the GOP still relevant? Well, if it continues to support failed, liberal policies, it will become little more than a footnote in history for having failed to offer a compelling conservative alternative to the Big Government socialism engineering.
If two people are doing the same job, one is redundant. And it’s usually the copycat who evanesces. So the Republicans have taken a hit. Now, they have to decide whether they want to roll over and play dead, or hit back. Right now, they seem to be reaching for the embalming fluid.
