Is RINOvich cozying up with the Climate Kooks?

The Curious Conservative -- Senator George RINOvich -- is getting ready to ram his golden horn up the ass crack of conservatism... again!

H/T Aude Sapere Blog for this great find on "The Great Horned One" in the NYT --

And Voinovich said Democratic sponsors have not reached out to him to negotiate on the legislation. “I think Senator Kerry and Senator Boxer are trying to get the most aggressive bill they can get out of the Senate EPW Committee,” he said. “As a result of that, I don’t think that they are as interested in negotiating as they might ordinarily.”

Voinovich added that he expects Democrats to press for more bipartisan talks early next year once leaders start counting votes and after the conclusion of a major U.N. climate conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“If they understand they can’t get cloture on what comes out of committee, I think we’d be more likely to get really serious after we get back after Copenhagen,” he said. “And at that stage of the game, we’ll have much more clarity where everyone’s going.”

Reach out? I am surprised they don't have this dolt on speed dial!

Reason #9,765 for voting against Cuyahoga County Reform Issue 6

This pretty much confirms that as I have said all along - the Issue 6 version of Cuyahoga County Reform is a terrible plan and will not solve the ills of our county.... Senator George Voinovich just came out in support of Issue 6 for the Cuyahoga County Reform initiative.

From the PD --
"There's not a Republican way to run a city, or a Democratic way. There's a right way and a wrong way," says U.S. Sen. George Voinovich. U.S. Sen. George Voinovich has been governor, mayor, county commissioner and county auditor.

Those decades of public service compel him, he says, to endorse Issue 6, the reform measure that would swap Cuyahoga County's three commissioners for an elected county executive and 11-member council.

"From a managerial point of view, I have a perspective that I don't think anybody else has," said Voinovich, a Cleveland native. "Who else has been a county auditor for five years and will say you don't need to elect a county auditor?" More...

Yes George, your 3 decades in office has recently shown us you have a questionable record on guns, think there are too many fiscal conservatives, think Cass Sunstein & Supreme Court Justice Sotomayer are good for our country, thinks the only thing wrong with Barack Obama is Nancy Pelosi and supported the auto-maker bailouts.

Where people are misguided in their well deserved and well intended want of "change" is in the people we elect -- not the structure of our county government. We are living a perfect example of what happens when knee-jerk "change" is made. We cannot afford that mistake in our county.

Issue 6 is knee-jerk change that will actually grow our county government, will create more room for graft & corruption and solidify the power of the same elected officials and businessmen who have already run this county into the ground. Issue 6 is nothing more than lipstick on a pig by the same old farm hands.

SO those that want change in the structure of our county government --- ask yourself this question....

What happens if a bad County Executive and bad County Council members get elected -- then what? Change again?

Think very hard about it -- it is our future!

Sen. George Voinovich Wins Golden RINO Award -- Again!

It's almost like every time he opens his pie hole Sen. Voinovich says something dumber than he did before. Making a RINO Hall of Fame run for the Gold -- Sen. RINOvich wins his own award -- AGAIN!

With a political career starting in Cuyahoga County, where many of his tax loving RPCC RINOette' still swoon over him, the following should come as no surprise. This time the Curious Conservative - Sen. George RINOvich - in his true RINO-like character wants to form a bipartisan committee so they can discuss tax increases to pay for Chairman's O's "I got America's checkbook, let's go shopping" spending spree...
Sen. George V. Voinovich said last week that a federal tax hike and spending cuts are necessary to eliminate the federal debt, balance the budget and preserve Social Security and Medicare.

Speaking after a climate-change conference in Hilliard on Monday, the Republican reiterated his call for a bipartisan commission of lawmakers and Obama-administration officials to make recommendations on tax increases and budget cuts. Congress would have an opportunity to forge a compromise from those recommendations and vote for or against the package.

Responding to a question about whether the state needs to increase taxes to fill a potential $1 billion hole in the state budget, Voinovich said: "I wish we had to do it on the federal level. What we've been doing on the federal level is we've been unwilling to pay for or do without things, and we've been borrow and spend, borrow and spend. . . .

"We have a $12 trillion national debt and budgets that are not going to be balanced for as far as we can see, and our credibility in the world is in jeopardy, and our credit's in jeopardy, and we just sit there and do nothing about it. So, what you have to do is -- I want a commission -- we're going to have to increase taxes, and we're going to have to reduce spending."
(Columbus Dispatch)
Hey, Curious George -- your credibility with 'real' conservatives has been shot a long, long time ago!

Should Congress create a new government tourism advertising agency to provide corporate welfare to the U.S. tourism industry?

In another show of what the Ohio Republican Party considers good conservative leadership, Sen. George RINOvich cranks it up and delivers another kick in the Buckeyes of Ohio conservatism. But remember, we should be greatful that the ORP ensures our future by finding and supporting great conservatives such as RINOvich.

From the Senate Conservatives Fund --

This new $400 million program, which is part of the Travel Promotion Act, allows the government to pay for tourism advertising around the globe. It's a lot like "Cash for Clunkers," only this time the handouts go to mega corporations that want someone else to pay their advertising bills.

Writing in the Washington Post today, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) describes it this way:

The advertising fund would be controlled by leaders of America's tourism industry -- giant corporations such as Disney, Loews and Marriott. Keep in mind, those companies are not in distress -- they're thriving. Disney, for instance, posted profits of $4.4 billion last year, and bought Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion just last week.

In order to make this crazy idea less objectionable, the authors of the bill pay for the new bureaucracy with new taxes on foreign travelers coming to the U.S. Of course such a fee is counter-productive to the stated goal of "travel promotion" and it will most certainly lead to higher travel fees for Americans traveling abroad. The EU has already announced that any new fee will trigger reciprocal fees on Americans traveling to its countries.

We realize that passing this program may help some of the tourism interests in Las Vegas and provide a political benefit to Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) who is suffering in the polls and could face a stiff challenger in 2010. But we hope some of his Democrat colleagues have the courage to oppose his boondoggle.

The Senate voted to cut off debate and advance the bill on Monday, demonstrating that Senators didn't learn much in August. Only 19 Republicans opposed it.

Sen. RINOvich joined other questionable conservatives such as, Susan Collins (R-ME), Lindsey Graham-nesty (R-SC) & Olympia Snowe (R-ME) in supporting this corporate welfare bill.

Anti- Gun Senator George Voinovich continues his charade of pretending to support 2nd Amendment

I just love when politicians try and rationalize their votes. Here we have the ever famous curious conservative - Curious George RINOvich - doing his best to convince angry gun supporters from OH he really is pro-gun and supports our 2nd Amendment...

From Buckeye Firearms --

On July 22, 2009, Senator George Voinovich (R-Ohio) voted against a national reciprocity amendment that would have allowed persons with a concealed handgun license to carry their guns in most other states (Amendment 1618 to S1390). Later, in trying to explain his vote, Voinovich told told editors at the Columbus Dispatch that the Republican party's biggest problem is that Ohioans just can't relate to pro-gun Republicans from the South.

And now, one month later, via a letter of response to angry constituents, Voinovich is trying to explain that he is really their friend. If you believe that, he probably has some great swampland in Florida to sell you too.

Senator Voinovich starts his letter by quoting the Second Amendment. Maybe he should try reading it himself. He then mentions his co-signing an amicus brief in the Heller v D.C. gun case and a couple other pro-gun votes. While those are nice, it does not make him pro-gun.

George Voinovich is like a child molester that lists out some good things he has done, as if that offsets the bad things. That is not the way I measure my friends, or my legislators. More...

Voinovich votes No on Stimulus Bull - Thank You!

While it might be shocking for some, I want to take the time and thank Senator Voinovich for voting NO against Obama's pork-fest of a stimulus bill.

The PD printed this following statement from Senator Voinovich...
"I keenly understand that Ohioans are hurting and our nation needs an economic shot in the arm. I worked towards and was prepared to support a package that put people back to work, injected needed capital into our economy and provided a safety net for families who the recession hit the hardest. I voted against this bill because it is weighed down by too much spending that is not stimulative and will not provide the jump-start our economy so desperately needs. Instead of funding federal responsibilities that are shovel-ready, like highways, sewers and housing, which would put people back to work quickly and the results of which would contribute to our nation's economic growth, this bill is filled with items that should be funded through the regular appropriations process and compete with other federal priorities in President Obama's budget request.

"Our nation is facing a catastrophic debt and this bill simply adds to that debt without fulfilling the well-accepted stimulus criteria that the funds be timely, targeted and temporary. It is irresponsible for us to attempt to save the present by mortgaging the future. It is my hope that my colleagues on the conference committee will get back to basics and do the work the American people are asking them to do: ensure that each and every dollar in this bill is focused on creating jobs, jump-starting the economy and responding to the human needs brought about by the deep recession our country is experiencing."

As Senator Voinovich refused to mortgage our future on a liberal wish list, Senatwhore Sherrod Brown swallowed all of Obama's big pork package with no problem. Senatwhore Brown mouthed the same empty rhetoric that President Barack O-Pimp Daddy has been trying to sell us about how this bill will create jobs and put people back to work.

The stimulus bill - will NOT create jobs immediately, in fact it will not even create jobs or get people back to work soon. I believe I have read somewhere that construction workers have the highest percentage of people not working or laid off. Stimulus supporters keep trying to sell everyone on the "shovel ready" infrastructure projects part of the bill as a way to create construction jobs. But when?

Being involved in all aspects of infrastructure construction, from planning & design to construction & completion - I can speak with some authority in this area. The term "shovel ready" regarding infrastructure projects is misleading for most people and I am truly confident the tormented electors throwing it around in D.C. have no real concept of what they are saying.

Here, using a standard road project & sewer reconstruction project in the City of Kingville I will review the work involved in starting one of the so-called "shovel ready" projects to begin; First we will have to assume that the project has been designed, and that all right of way and easement acquisitions are complete (depending on the scope of the project - these can be very time consuming). We will also assume that approval from all regulating agencies, that can range from the - EPA, Corp of Engineers, City Engineer, NEORSD, County Sanitary Engineers to the controlling water entity of that area.

With those tasks being complete, the project will be put out to bid (@1mth), after approval from council the bid is awarded. Once the bid has been awarded and the contract has been executed a Notice to Proceed (@2wks) is given and the project can begin. Right? Nope - that is just the first step.

A preconstruction meeting is held, we will assume within 2 weeks of Notice to Proceed, and present are all the utility companies - Gas, water, electric, cable, & phone. After coordinating with these entities and verifying there is no conflict with these existing utilities. If there is, relocating of the utility or redesigning this area of project is in order. Depending on the impact of the conflict - this can take anywhere from a couple days for redesign or up to weeks for the relocation work to be scheduled and then longer to be completed. (We will assume no relocation or redesign work is needed).

Usually somewhere between the Notice to Proceed and the preconstruction meeting the contractor will start ordering the material for the project and having the structures made. In most cases while the manufacturers will have standard structures (manholes, catch basins, pipe, etc...) in stock, but usually need to make the structures from the shop drawings approved for the project. Best case scenario for this time frame would be a minimum of 2 -4 weeks.

Now comes the big problem -- the city has to appropriate the money for the contract to be awarded. So as you see - if the cities were given the stimulus cash today - these shovel ready projects are at best, under optimum conditions and no delays, are at least 3 -4 months away from starting. In my opinion, a more realistic and reasonable view of a projected start date for these "shovel-ready" projects would be about 6-8 months - AFTER the stimulus funds are received.

It appears Senator Voinovich understands the value of these infrastructure projects as a way to jump start the economy and just as important, he recognizes that because of the inherent lag time of this work - time is of the essence for a good stimulus bill being passed. Unfortunately, Senator Voinovich and almost all the other intelligent Senators, were not given a good bill and were out voted by the Democrat Senatwhores.

Sadr Threatening to End Truce

It looks like Muqtada al-Sadr is threatening to end the cease fire & truces he has called for among his jihadikaze followers. Since his followers have still not learned to keep their guns at home the Iraqi Police have been arresting them...

Lawmakers loyal to anti-U.S. cleric Muqtada al-Sadr accused the Iraqi government of trying to crush the movement and warned Saturday of "black clouds" on the horizon for truces that have eased fighting between al-Sadr's militia and security forces.

The Sadrist Movement has heightened its rhetoric against the government in recent days, raising concerns over the cease-fires in the southern city of Basra and Baghdad's Sadr City district, the stronghold of al-Sadr's Mahdi Army militia.

The new tensions were sparked when Iraqi troops in Basra attempted to break up a gathering in a northern square by firing over the heads of al-Sadr followers congregating for Friday prayers. Iraqi authorities recently banned al-Sadr gatherings in the square after a large cache of weapons was found nearby, More...

Maybe this will prove a lesson to the peacenik's and anti-Iraqi Demacut-and-runs in this country.

In his best portrayal of Barack O'Dumbo, President Bush just got done playing - I'm a sissy, let me kiss your a** and the Koran - to appease the arab asshats because one of soldiers mistakenly took target practice on a Koran.

Obviously Bush the "Iraqi Bit**" has already forgotten about his recent remarks that ass-kissing and appeasement does not work with terrorists.

Our sniper should be asked to again practice his shooting - now he can "S" in the cover of the koran... and then drop it on Sadr's front porch! Maybe then Sadr will understand.

Or maybe Sadr should call and ask Hillary what happened to RFK - I'm sure she can explain more.

Hillary Can't Have It Both Ways

Tired of the repetitive barrage of the same Rev. Wright crap over and over - I could no longer stand to watch the bloviating blowhard Bill O'Reilly on Fox News for one more second. I admit - I did watch the Hillary interview though.

I feel Hillary did a good job of handling herself and most of all was able to answer questions with her version of the facts and not empty messages of O'Hope like O'Dope.

Enough with the cool-aid...

Cliton wants to have it both ways. She wants to portray herself as strong on terrorism, but will accept sanctuary cities. She believes that more illegal immigrants will report crime if they are not sent back to Mexico on a mule - this will help reduce crime rates. Then like a true democrat she acknowledged that many of these illegal immigrants are the ones that commit crime - huh? See why I'm not a democrat!

You ask how is this both ways? You cannot be tough on terror and be soft on illegal immigration - they go hand in hand. There has long been talk on the threat of terrorists infiltrating our country through the Swiss cheese like Mexican border. This is where most democrats miss the boat!

The crack down on our southern border has severely decreased the amount of illegal immigrants entering this country since 9/11. There are several contributing factors - but the extra vigilance is starting to act as a deterrence.

We can insert the democrat chorus here - the illegals contribute to the economy and help the work force....

From Fox News --
The downturn in illegal immigration has created labor shortages throughout the United States and several states are considering temporary-worker programs, especially in agricultural fields, where produce is going bad.

Mexicans in the U.S. are starting to send less money home, too.

Remittances soared in the early part of the decade to become Mexico's largest source of foreign income after oil exports. But they rose just 1 percent in 2007, reaching $24 billion and in the first quarter this year, they slipped almost 3 percent from the same period last year, Mexico's central bank said this week. More...

But this is not enough - the sanctuary cities If we got rid of the sanctuary cities this would be one less incentive for the illegal border jumpers to enter our country.

The guys at PIG correctly define Sanctuary Cities --

  • SANCTUARY CITY, n.
A term that denotes a city which while 'technically' still part of the United States (umbilical to U.S. Treasury intact), it has been surrendered to the border jumping scumbag invaders who have transformed it into a third world cesspool.
    (link added)

Decreasing the amount of border jumpers also decreases the potential threat of terrorism from our southern border. Unless her head has been in the sand - it shows Hillary is unable to make the connection with terrorists and illegal immigrants in her dysfunctional democrap mind. It has long been established that terrorists are working with the Mexican drug cartels in the smuggling of money & drugs through the United States.

The traffickers from the drug cartels are becoming more violent in enforcing the established avenues of infiltration for their drugs - avenues that can be shared by & with Islamikaze terrorists!

From National Terror Alert --

David Johnson, assistant secretary for the INL, says that the illicit drug trade is directly linked to known terrorist groups in the Western Hemisphere and that these groups are employing terrorist tactics to traffic drugs into North America.

"These worrisome links have expanded to North America, and particularly in the case of some Mexican-based drug trafficking organizations,” Johnson said in a statement. “They have pushed past intimidation to employ terrorist tactics to enforce their drug trafficking monopolies on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.”

Johnson says the organizations have created a surge in violence that has claimed the lives of hundreds over the last several years and that the “future of democracy in the Western Hemisphere and our own (United States) national security interests are deeply and inextricably intertwined.” He called for the strengthening of regional cooperation to fight against the growing threat.

Because of the border crack down the drug cartels are becoming more creative in their ways of smuggling drugs into the United States - thus creating a continued national security threat.

From
Drug Policy. Org --

Over the last two years, Colombian authorities and the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy have seized 13 submarine-like vessels outfitted for drug running. The five seized by American authorities were en route to Mexico or Central America, each loaded with 3 to 5 tons of cocaine.

The seizures point to a security threat that goes beyond drug trafficking. Many law enforcement officials are concerned that U.S. ports and shorelines could be vulnerable to terrorist attacks using such crudely built submarines.

"There could be 5 tons of anything on board these things," said a senior U.S. military official involved in the war on drugs. More...

If after reading this you are unable to see the potential danger posed by a porous border and creating safe havens - sanctuary cities - for the drug couriers & potential terrorists, please re-read the last sentence of the above U.S. military official.

Our next Commander in Chief or Comanderette in Chief must have a clear and objective outlook when dealing with immigration and the links with terrorism. If elected, clouded judgement like Hillary's may very well bring us a "Cloud" of fallout!

Fonzie gets a Statue - RINOvich wins Award

Some cities have statues of famous football or baseball players, famous citizens or past presidents, war memorials, etc.... Usually the statues have a connection or have a sense of "identity" for the community.

Residents of Milwaukee will be getting a "Bronze Fonz" -

A statue of Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli, the leather-jacketed biker from "Happy Days," will be erected in the city where the TV sitcom was set, now that local groups have raised the $85,000 needed to do it, civic leaders said Friday.

Henry Winkler, who played Fonzie during the show's run from 1974 to 1984, called the "Bronze the Fonz" project "a phenomenal compliment."
I think that is just great for the "Fonz"! Happy Days was a TV show the whole family could watch and enjoy. Though I do think Mrs. C had a "thing" for Fonzie!

Speaking of "things" and statues leads to the next part of this post.... and I sure hope nobody builds a statue of this guy!

In the attempt to cut off any God awful movement to see an erection of the following elected official- King's Right Site has decided to duly recognize and forever commemorate his deeds by bestowing an award in his name.

SO, by Royal Order & Decree of The King (me).....

....let it be further known, throughout the land & blogoshphere, in embodiment of truly witless talents, an uncanny knack for a never-ending compromising of GOP values & feeble minded - sanity questioning foreign policy beliefs & his ever famous love of PORK....

I, The King, hereby commission the, "Golden RINO Award" in the name of the "Great Horned One," Senator George Voinovich -

Behold!!!

I think it goes without saying that having the "Golden RINO Award" created in his name, will bring a Hannity-like tear to the eyes of the emotionally challenged Senator RINOvich.

Senator RINOvich was unable to attend any presentation ceremonies, but has released a statement through his office.....

Like the "Fonz," Senator RINOvich feels it is a "phenomenal compliment" to have an award, such as this, named after him.

Unfortunately Senator RINOvich is busy shining his "horn" before he, again, skillfully inserts it into the derriere of common sense, the American public & conservative values!

Is Sarkozy smarter than U.S. Intelligence?

To answer the question in the title of this post - YES!

Recently returning from a trip to the United Arab Emrites (UAE) where a deal for civilian nuclear (technology) was signed between the two countries, French President Sarkozy shows he won't be fooled by politically motivated nuclear reports from our intelligence agencies or the dupes from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)....

From Persian Journal --
The French president reiterates his stance on Iran's nuclear activities despite recent reports about the peaceful nature of the program.

"On Iran and its nuclear program, you know the position of France. Nothing which has happened changes my judgment," Nicolas Sarkozy said on Friday.

He was referring to the recent reports by the US intelligence agencies and UN nuclear watchdog both confirming that Tehran's nuclear activities are not aimed at producing nuclear weapons.
With Sarkozy in charge it looks as if the French might slowly being growing a "set."

If he keeps this up - I may have to rethink my position of sending the Statue of Liberty back to them!

I'll take a Ham Sandwich over a RINO Any Day!

I bet a lot of us thought this day would never come - Well, it is finally here!

Our favorite crying RINO Senator of Ohio, Curious George RINOvich, will not be getting another free ride on the Pork Barrel Express in 2010!

After hours of secret discussions with President Bush, Matt at WMD has revealed there is hope and it is not a "Hope Sandwich" --
Well, folks, I can now reveal the secret of why WMD has been so quiet lately... I just got back from a quick trip to Dee Cee where President Bush helped introduce the candidate that will BEAT RINOvich in the primary...
It is none other than RINOvich's declared oppostion - Mr. Ham Sandwich!

While sitting down and having a bit to eat with Matt and Mr. Ham Sandwich I was sceptical at first. During the "grilling" I gave him over the next hour or so, candidate Ham Sandwich poked holes in RINOvich's record like Swiss Cheese on day old bread.

Seeing that candidate Ham Sandwich was obviously a "cut" above the rest, I had no choice but to support his run for senate against the Great Horned One, and you can too!

Candidate Ham Sandwich has named

Sen. RINOvich - "Hillary has Good Perspective on Foreign Policy"

Curious George the RINO Senator from Ohio was recently bellowing to reporters about his outlook of the upcoming '08 presidential elections.

RINOvich stated he has yet to endorse any candidate, democrat or republican. (Hint: RED! George - WE are the RED Team!). RINOvich continued on that he feels Hillahag has a step up over Obambi, especially in foreign policy!

Psst.... Mr. Foreign Intelligence Smarty Pants - terrorists want the democrats (BLUE Team) to win! If you read your intelligence briefs you will learn about them terrorist guys.

From Brit Hume / CNN --

Maverick Republican Senator George Voinovich of Ohio today said that while Democrat Hillary Clinton has what he called a good perspective on foreign policy — Barack Obama does not.

Voinovich told reporters — "I think Hillary because of her exposure over the years at the White House dealing with the secretary of state and all that, I think has got a pretty good perspective on foreign policy."

And on Obama — who sits on the Foreign Relations Committee along with Voinovich — quote — "he hasn't had any experience with foreign policy — give me a break!"

Well said Brit!

Georgie Porgy Puddin' Pie - kissed up to Hilldabeast on foreign policy and made the pundits cry! Watch out in 2010, because..... HAM SANDWICH IS OUR GUY!

Rinovich not thinking of Retirement - Damn!

In the PD Openers they talk about Lott's retirement and other possibilities....
Trent Lott's announcement that he will retire from the U.S. Senate has prompted speculation of other politicians who could follow. Says MSNBC:

"Other Senate GOP veterans are also facing possible retirement decisions in 2010: Sens. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, Charles Grassley of Iowa, George Voinovich of Ohio, Christopher Bond of Missouri, and John McCain of Arizona. All of them except Bond are over age 70; Bond is 68."

But, says Voinovich's office: Ohio's senior senator is not retiring.

Damn! Damn!! G** F'n Damn it!!!

America, meet your dumbest congressman

This column from Joe Farah at World Net Daily was sent to me via email from a democrat from Cuyahoga County. The comment in the email with the link simply stated - "Nice Title, I thought for sure this would be Kucinich."

From World Net Daily --

Meet the dumbest man in Congress.

Who could it be?

Ted Kennedy?

Joe Biden?

Jack Murtha?

I admit it. There's quite a bit of competition for the title – the dumbest man in Congress.
Could it be Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee or Patty Murray? No, I'm not limiting the choices to men of the male persuasion.

Do you want to know who I think is the dumbest man in Congress?

I tell you it is Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio.

But Voinovich, being the dumbest man in Congress, self-destructed. He imploded. He self-immolated. He nuked himself.

You can hear the whole exchange for yourself if you have never had the pleasure. It will be worth your time – especially if you are from Ohio. More....

Time for Little George to GO!

There have been quite a few posts about a few republicans supporting sanctuary cities, most upsetting to me is Little George Voinovich.

Lake & Ashtabula counties recently had hundreds of illegal aliens hiding in a church. We have other areas in Ohio besieged with illegals and Voinovich wants to create more of a burden on this area. Cleveland is already the poorest city in the United States, we don't need anymore burdens or anchors on society.

The little guy over at Right Angle Blog, the vigilant RINO watchdog that he is, points out our own little George cast the vote to kill an amendment that would close a gaping national security loop hole.

The amendment proposed by Senator Norm Coleman, would allow -- local law enforcement officials are able to communicate with federal law enforcement agencies regarding suspected immigration violations. Currently, a number of cities throughout the nation are using a loophole to get around Sec. 642 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) of 1996 by instituting ordinances forbidding local law enforcement to even ask the question as to whether a person is in the U.S. lawfully, thereby evading their legal responsibility to report their suspicions to the federal government.

On a larger scale, Weapons of Mass Discussion points out the orange picker, Sen. Martinez, is more disappointing --

Let me apply a little more emphasis: The head of the Republican National Committee thinks it is a good idea for cities to have the power to say "Eff You" to the federal government and law enforcement personnel trying to enforce our immigration laws.

Sen. Martinez should step down as head of the RNC immediately. He clearly is not in touch with the American people or the party he "leads."

Maybe Martinez might be hoping Voinovich could find a few of his relatives a job in Ohio. What's a few more stiffs from Ohio being out out of work by illegal aliens.

National Security? No big deal -- Nobody would ever attack the United States!

Hopefully this will be Little George's last term. You can be sure I won't go to another one his $100 hot dog fund raisers and I sure as hell will never vote for him again!
