Top 10 Reasons for Gun Control

I found this brilliant piece on gun control over at PIG Prattler...

Publishers Note: The following was lifted from Just John at Write On The Right who in turn, lifted it from Robert at American And Proud

Top Ten Reasons For Gun "Control":

1.) Guns are used in self-defense over 2 million times a year. However, this makes the attempted crime a “non-event,” which necessarily complicates the Police investigation. Without civilian ownership of guns, these Police investigations would not have been compromised. Civilians should leave crime prevention to the Police, who are properly equipped to investigate following the crime’s completion.

2.) Some .004 % (4/1000 of 1%) of guns are used in crime each year. This is way too high. All guns should be banned.

3.) Guns are unnecessary. In 98% of civilian gun defenses, no shot is fired. If you are not going to fire a shot, you clearly don’t need a gun. This proves that the guns are unnecessary. Banning guns will prevent these unnecessary defenses.

4.) Guns cause criminal migration. In tough gun-law Washington, D. C., violent crime rates are very high. This high crime rate is caused by the migration of criminals from gun havens like Virginia. This migration is caused by the criminal’s cowardly avoidance of armed householders and concealed-carry civilians. This criminal migration is detrimental to helpless unarmed citizens in no-gun areas and must be stopped. Guns should be banned everywhere.

5.) Most gun crimes are committed by inner city gangs and drug dealers. These relatively small and geographically restricted groups consistently commit the majority of gun crimes, which usually peak as turf wars erupt over Drug War changes. The best way to prevent this is by denying guns to all law abiding people everywhere.

6.) No woman needs to protect herself from rape, assault or murder. The Police will protect women by investigating the crime after the fact. Remember, Police paperwork is all the protection anyone really needs.

7.) Gun owners are disrespectful of authority. Good citizens should completely rely on the authorities. A failure to do so is an invariable sign of improper and overly independent attitudes. Failure to completely and absolutely trust and depend on the authorities is excessive democracy, and sends a bad message to children.

8.) Gun owners engaging in self-defense are taking the law into their own hands. This is wrong. Only the Police and Criminals have the right to take the law into their own hands. It should be kept out of the hands of citizens.

9.) Children and young people should remain ignorant about guns. Real guns and real gun knowledge dissipate the fantasies created by violent video games and TV. Ignorance, once lost, can never be restored and needs to be protected. Not to mention the lost sales of all the violent movies, TV shows, video games, etc!

10.) Guns reduce people’s reliance on the Police and Government. This fosters a mistaken belief in “rights”. No person has the right to question authority. No person should be less than 100% dependent upon authority. This is fundamental to social order. Banning guns will help to establish the Order the authorities want. This is good.

Yost secures Butler County GOP Endorsement for OH Attorney General

The GOP primary for OH Attorney General is shaping up to be very interesting. Not because we have two good candidates (Duh - this is OH), but because we finally have some new blood that can truly be considered a conservative -- Dave Yost, running against a career politician -- Mike DeWine, who can probably spell the word "conservative" but is missing over half the pages in his "Conservatism for Dummies" book.

Yes, this would be the same Brady Bill supporting, gun hating Mike DeWine that was soundly spanked at the polls by the now Senator Sherrod Brown.

Why is this race interesting? Because the ORP wants to do business as usual and give the state party endorsement to Little Mikey DeWine, who is related to ORP Chairman Kevin DeWine, because they know he will do as they say. But things are now quite working out that way.

Yost, who has the support of 70% of the Republican county prosecutors in OH, just landed another gem of endorsement that can be politically equated to peeing in Mikey's bowl of cereal...

From Right OH --
Defeats Mike DeWine for Butler County Endorsement, calls victory a “game-changer”

(Hamilton) Delaware County Prosecutor Dave Yost last night secured the endorsement for Ohio Attorney General from the Butler County Republican Central and Executive Committee, defeating former U.S. Senator Mike DeWine. Butler County is the seventh largest county in Ohio boasts one of the state’s strongest GOP bases.

“This is an enormous win for our campaign – but it’s even more important as a signal of a fresh start for Ohio,” Yost said. “I’m humbled and encouraged by this vote of confidence as a signal of the desire among voters for a new generation of leadership.”

Butler County, a Republican stronghold among Ohio’s 88 counties, is crucial for any candidate seeking statewide office. The Party endorsement requires a supermajority of 60%. Yost won with 68%.

So will the Ohio GOP respect the will & wishes of their rank & file members and all the newly awakened conservative voters or will they continue their business as usual by endorsing a anti-2nd Amendment candidate in Mike DeWine and "Scozzafava" the voters in OH?

"Health Care" the New Anti-2nd Amendment Tool

With the House narrowly passing Obama Care and taking us one step closer to government run health care, we have taken one step closer to losing our 2nd Amendment rights.

With the full frontal assaults on our 2nd Amendment rights that we are already facing under the Obama administration, you can expect the "epidemic" of gun violence being a health care issue will be up next on the anti-gun menu.

Much like the wily cockroach that can squeeze through the smallest of openings, the anti-gun parasites will not be above trying to take away our 2nd Amendment rights through the opening created with any government take over of our health care.

As usual when it comes to being on top of any attacks on our 2A rights, the guys at Buckeye Firearms outline the scenario in how this could happen....
Buckeye Firearms Association is a single issue, non-partisan PAC. As such, the debate on healthcare reform occurring across the U.S. is not something that would be within our normal sphere of coverage. However, my good friend Chad Baus posted a story a few days ago highlighting how the Centers for Disease Control has begun researching gun violence and the impact of gun violence on healthcare costs. This immediately set off alarm bells in my head as the pieces fell into place. Why, you
ask?

Healthcare reform is a brilliant way to regulate/ban firearms without violating the Second Amendment.

Healthcare reform, which seems completely innocuous to gun rights at first blush, is a Trojan Horse. Of that, there can be no doubt. The only real question is whether our enemies will choose to use it as such. Given the string of court and legislative defeats the anti-gun groups have suffered, is there any doubt whether the Brady Bunch will pass up an opportunity to regulate firearms in this oblique manner?

Chad's article pointed to a Washington Times editorial taking the CDC to task for circumventing congressional orders to abstain from gun control "research." The original reasoning behind this "research" ban was that the CDC would be using tax dollars to advance a gun control agenda, and the taxpayers rightly put an end to these shenanigans. Now, under President Obama, the CDC is defying this ban by researching "health care costs" and how guns impact health insurance and health care services. If any reader is in doubt as to what the results of this "research" will be, you might as well stop reading now.

So, sometime in the near future, a tax-payer funded study will show that gunshot wounds take up a tremendous amount of medical resources, More...
We already see the "epidemic" of gun violence mantra being chirped by some big city mayors, one being Mayor Jackson of Cleveland, who has already enacted illegal gun restrictions. So this is not as far-fetched as some may think. This should also be very troubling for any supporters of our 2A rights here in Cuyahoga County.

Why?

Because combining this with the passing of Issue 6 Cuyahoga County Reform, which Jackson strongly supported, the residents have allowed a restructuring of our county government crafted and supported by the anti-gun forces in this area.

Bedford Mayor joins Anti-Gun Group

I won't go into detail, but over the years Mayor Pocek of Bedford and I have had some pretty good arguments from time to time about things going on here. I honestly have to say that after some initial "growing pains" we get along.

It is no mystery that Mayor Pocek is a strong partisan Democrat and plays hard on the partisan lines. Though for the most part this has never come into play during Pocek's time as Mayor in Bedford --- until now!

It was brought to my attention this weekend that Mayor Pocek, along with several gun-hating Mayors from the Cuyahoga County area have foolishly signed up in support of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" (MAIG) group....
Despite its very misleading name, this national group of anti-gun mayors has lobbied Congress of state Right-to-Carry permits, against much-needed reform of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), for regulating gun shows out of existence, and for repealing the Tiahrt Amendment that protects the privacy rights of law-abiding gun owners and limits disclosure of sensitive firearm trace data to protect law enforcement personnel and protect lawful gun manufacturers from bogus lawsuits.

Bloomberg created "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" as a front group to lobby Congress to oppose important pro-gun reforms and support new federal gun control restrictions. (Ohio Sportsman)

You can be sure Mayor Pocek will be receiving many calls from the "Democrats" living in Bedford very upset with his signing onto a back door attempt of taking away our 2nd Amendment rights.

Realizing Bloomberg's MAIG group is just another back door way to push their gun-hating progressive programs down to a local level, Walton Hills Mayor, Marlene Anielski, when realizing the true intent and nature of this group -- did the right thing and immediately stepped down.

Below is a list of Mayors from Cuyahoga County supporting this gun-hating group, click here for a list of all the OH mayors....

Mayor Merle Gordon Beachwood, OH

Mayor Daniel Pocek Bedford, OH

Mayor Fletcher Berger Bedford Heights, OH

Mayor John Licastro Bratenahl, OH

Mayor Samuel Alai Broadview Heights, OH

Mayor Frank Jackson Cleveland, OH

Mayor Jack Bacci Cuyahoga Heights, OH

Mayor Bill Cervenik Euclid, OH

Mayor Bruce Rinker Mayfield Village, OH

Mayor Gary Starr Middleburg Heights, OH

Mayor Susan Renda Moreland Hills, OH

Mayor Thomas E. O'Grady North Olmsted, OH

Mayor Kathy Mulcahy Orange Village, OH

Mayor Martin Zanotti Parma Heights, OH

Mayor Bruce Akers Pepper Pike, OH

Mayor Daniel Ursu Richmond Heights, OH

Mayor Earl M. Leiken Shaker Heights, OH

Mayor Kevin Patton Solon, OH

Mayor Georgine Welo South Euclid, OH

Mayor Beryl Rothschild University Heights, OH

** Side note for all the supporters for the Issue 6 Cuyahoga County Reform -- notice many of the above area Mayor's supporting this gun-hating group also support or had a hand in crafting Issue 6.

How long before these same people -- regionalize their efforts for taking away our 2nd Amendment?

Anti- Gun Senator George Voinovich continues his charade of pretending to support 2nd Amendment

I just love when politicians try and rationalize their votes. Here we have the ever famous curious conservative - Curious George RINOvich - doing his best to convince angry gun supporters from OH he really is pro-gun and supports our 2nd Amendment...

From Buckeye Firearms --

On July 22, 2009, Senator George Voinovich (R-Ohio) voted against a national reciprocity amendment that would have allowed persons with a concealed handgun license to carry their guns in most other states (Amendment 1618 to S1390). Later, in trying to explain his vote, Voinovich told told editors at the Columbus Dispatch that the Republican party's biggest problem is that Ohioans just can't relate to pro-gun Republicans from the South.

And now, one month later, via a letter of response to angry constituents, Voinovich is trying to explain that he is really their friend. If you believe that, he probably has some great swampland in Florida to sell you too.

Senator Voinovich starts his letter by quoting the Second Amendment. Maybe he should try reading it himself. He then mentions his co-signing an amicus brief in the Heller v D.C. gun case and a couple other pro-gun votes. While those are nice, it does not make him pro-gun.

George Voinovich is like a child molester that lists out some good things he has done, as if that offsets the bad things. That is not the way I measure my friends, or my legislators. More...

Sportsmen Need to Block the Anti-Hunting & Fishing "Czar"

Hopefully the below post will awaken the sportsman out there that support the Ruler of the DC Red Shed -- Obama. For the ones that think this outrage is only about Cap & Trade or being against Socialized Hell-th Care -- understand something -- this outrage is about the stripping of our God given & Constitutionally protected rights.

Maybe now that they will soon be attacking hunters you will get you off your tree stand sitting butts...

From Buckeye Firearms --
Cass R. Sunstein may not be a household name, but make no mistake, in academic and legal circles he is a rock star. His nomination by President Obama to serve as the head of the powerful Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), otherwise known as the "Regulatory Czar", appears on track and has received a lot of accolades from those who make a living inside "the Beltway" of Washington, D.C.

Unfortunately, Sunstein's record outs him as a rabid animal rightist who has gone so far as to state that animals may deserve the right to sue and, for sportsmen, most chillingly, that "we might ban hunting altogether, at least if it's sole purpose is human recreation."

The Obama administration is already crowded with people who hold similar viewpoints as Sunstein. It is common knowledge that Attorney General Eric Holder is a champion for gun control. Also with sordid conservation pasts are Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack who vetoed a bill to allow dove hunting when governor of Iowa and Lisa Jackson, head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, who worked overtime as a New Jersey bureaucrat to stop bear hunting in the state.

Senate-whore Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D- NV), will be pushing this for a vote to confirm Cass Sunstein's nomination when the Senate starts up after Labor Day.

So, if you want to continue enjoying the outdoors, put down your Buck Hunting Magazine, contact your Senators and tell them to vote no on Sunsteins nomination. Click this link for the phone numbers of your Senators.

Second Amendment: Beware Permit Holders

From the US Patriot Post --

Concealed handgun permit holders are the target of a recent report issued by the Violence Policy Center, an anti-gun advocacy organization that says, "Gun violence is more than a crime issue; it is a broad-based public health crisis of which crime is merely the most recognized aspect." The report, entitled "Law Enforcement and Private Citizens Killed by Concealed Handgun Permit Holders," is quite possibly the shoddiest piece of investigative research available -- an obvious effort to manipulate a particular set of circumstances to support the Center's efforts to undermine Second Amendment rights. The report relies on news stories rather than hard data to support its claims that between May 2007 and April 2009, permit holders were responsible for the deaths of 51 people.

As Bob Owens of Pajamas Media notes in his analysis, "Of the 31 incidents cited by the Violence Policy Center in its report, eight did not involve the use of concealed weapons. One used no weapon at all, four used rifles, one was a negligent discharge, and three were incidents of domestic violence where non-concealed handguns were used." Owens concludes, "All told, 30 of the 57 people that the Violence Policy Center suggested were killed as a result of concealed carry should not have been included in any study citing concealed carry of handguns as a significant contributing factor."

The VPC is funded to the tune of $700,000 per year by The Joyce Foundation, where Barack Obama served as director from 1994-2002. In 1999, Joyce began a significant attack on 2nd Amendment rights, a move that ultimately had bearing in the Heller Supreme Court appeal. While Obama maintains that he supports individual Second Amendment rights, the actions of the Joyce Foundation that he directed, and the latest attempt by the VPC to tag concealed carry permit holders as the villains, should serve as a reminder that the Left will never stop trying to
subvert our fundamental constitutional rights.

Walton Hills Mayor Quits NY Mayor Bloomberg's Anti-Gun Mayor Group

Did you ever think that somebody being a free thinking individual and just doing the right thing would make national news? If they don't drink korrectnik kool-aid it does.

Walton Hills Mayor Marlene Anielski and candidate for 17th Ohio House District seat has no problem standing up and doing the right thing. Anieleski, who has proven throughout her career that she is a free thinking individual, is again going against the tide of the popular thing to do & is standing up showing she cannot be forced into supporting anything that infringes on our constitutional rights...

From Buckeye Firearms --
On Tuesday, Buckeye Firearms Association broke the news that Village of Walton Hills, OH Mayor Marlene Anielski had submitted to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg her resignation from the gun control front group known as Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG).

Since then, the news has been spread far and wide, and Anielski is doing some high-profile interviews to further explain her motivations for the resignation.

That same day, NRANews' Ginny Simone delivered a live report on the positive news as her lead story during "The Daily News" show. A podcast of that broadcast is available here.

Simone also conducted a telephone interview with Mayor Anielski on Wednesday, and delivered another live lead-story report which included that taped interview. That podcast is available here.

Gongwer News Service has also picked up the story, in a report entitled "House candidate quits gun control group":

Walton Hills Mayor Marlene Anielski, a Republican candidate for the 17th Ohio House District seat, resigned from a gun control group organized by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, according to the Buckeye Firearms
Association.

Ms. Anielski said she became concerned about the direction of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which she said is looking to "shift blame" for violent crime to law-abiding gun owners.

"I am dedicated in defending and advancing the right of Ohio citizens to own and use firearms for all legal activities, including self-defense and competitions," she wrote. "We need to defend our Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms."

Ms. Anielski is running for the House seat being vacated by Rep. Josh Mandel (R-Lyndhurst).

And this is exactly why I think the world of Mayor Anielski... she is not afraid to stand up and do the right things! I agree illegal guns are bad and it is highly admirable that Anielski refuses to be brought into the political gamesmanship of turning this into an attack on the 2nd Amendment rights of every day Americans.

It should also be noted that Mayor Anielski was only one of three mayors in Cuyahoga County that felt the forced sales tax increase for the still yet to be built Med Mart should have been placed on the ballot for a vote of the residents.

When elected to the OH House, Anielski will finally give the residents of this area the voice we have been sorely lacking in Columbus.

Steaming Load of the Week Award: MSNBC works overtime to transform a sovereign individual who happens to be BLACK, into the great white bigot militia

From Politically Incorrect Gazette --

Steaming Load #1: MSNBC works overtime to transform a sovereign individual who happens to be BLACK, into the great white bigot militia member.

His name is Chris and his 15 minutes of fame started, when he showed up to at ‘spontaneous’ rally promoting Messiah Barry’s DeathCare. Chris wasn’t there to kneel at Hopey McChange’s feet. He was there to punctuate his opposition to the Red Shed’s Marxist assault on our liberty, by wearing an AR-15 slung over his shoulder and a holstered handgun strapped to his hip. When questioned, on camera, by local reporters, Chris, who was clean-cut, and nicely dressed, defended our inalienable individual liberty eloquently, expertly, without resorting to name-calling. He is, to say the least, very impressive and a one of the rugged American individuals, whom we venerate, here in the FSOP.

In addition to being a eloquent spokesman for our liberty, Chris is also the Broadcast Blowjob Brigade’s worst nightmare. He’s a rational adult, a sovereign individual, who also happens to be BLACK. To a rational adult, Chris’ race falls squarely in the "so what?" column, but, at MSM outlets, in general, and at MSNBC, in particular, it’s intolerable. What to do?

If you’re what passes for a ‘journalist’ at MSNBC, you ‘tweak’ this nightmare, by spending HOURS editing all traces of the ultimate inconvenient truth - a sovereign, Obama sucks, individual who happens to be black - from your so called ‘news’ report. How? You crop the image of Chris down to a tight shot of the AR-15 worn by a man wearing a white dress shirt and dark slacks. When you’re done, all traces of Chris’ race, all traces of an eloquent - liberty loving - individual who happens to be black, have been expunged.

Just getting started, MSNBC then spewed deliberately inflammatory bullshit about armed and dangerous great white bigots painting a bull’s-eye - in the most literal sense - on America’s first Melanin-Enriched president:

MSNBC's Contessa Brewer: "A man at a pro-health care reform rally just outside wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip. The Associated Press [reported] about a dozen people in all at that event were visible carrying firearms.

The reason we're talking about this—a lot of talk here Dylan—because people feel like yes, there are Second Amendment rights, for sure, but also there are questions about whether this has racial overtones. You have a man of color in the Presidency and white people showing up with guns strapped to their waists."

If the full impact of this blatant bullshit eludes you, here’s how Neal Boortz summed it up:

OK .. let's ferret out the "facts" contained in Contessa's news story.

* We had a rally for ObamaCare
* A man at that rally was carrying a semiautomatic assault rifle
* The man carrying the rifle was white.

If you want to see this MSNBC stinker, AND a compelling YouTube video, which will let Chris dazzle you with his eloquent - passionate, without bellowing - defense of our liberty, you can find it on Neal Boortz blog: Here

By now, every rational adult knows that MSNBC is (alleged) journalism’s asshole, so we shouldn’t be shocked, that it poops out a Steaming Load as humongous as this one. The only thing ‘new’ here is that Chris "The Tingler" Matthews, Keith Assholemann, that Ed Schultz piece of shit, and Rachel Maddow, aren’t the biggest turds in the bowl.

MSNBC’s crapper is full to overflowing. It’s time to call in the rational adult version of Roto Rooter and FLUSH this steaming pile of turds out of our misery.

Majority of Americans Support "Carry Conceal"

Initially, even though I am a strong supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights, I was not too supportive of "Carry Conceal" laws. This stems from countless times of having a gun pulled on me, years of being shot at and held at gun point during my time as a repo man. I never carried a gun -- and always got what I came for. I felt carrying a gun would have created more problems.

I thought "Carry Conceal" would enable pencil neck geeks to now think they were Dirty Harry and start escalating situations because of a false sense of security of being armed. My fears were unfounded and are no longer a concern. I should have remembered -- responsible gun owners act in responsible ways.

The fears of others about "Carry Conceal" appear to have subsided. Facts now show most Americans are supportive of "Carry Conceal" laws...

From Buckeye Firearms --
The United States Senate recently voted on an amendment that would have allowed Right-to-Carry permit holders to carry in all other states that also grant carry permits. The amendment, sponsored by Sens. John Thune (R-S.D.) and David Vitter (R-La.), won a significant majority of votes, 58 to 39, but failed to reach the 60 votes needed to avoid a Senate filibuster.

Anti-gun senators have long argued that the majority of Americans do not support firearm freedoms. They made this erroneous claim once again during the debate on the Thune/Vitter amendment. Now, a new poll has proven them wrong.

Conducted by Zogby International and The O'Leary Report, the poll looked at Americans' opinions on some key issues related to the Second Amendment. One of the questions asked: "Currently, 39 states have laws that allow residents to carry firearms to protect themselves, only if they pass a background check and pay a fee to cover administrative costs. Most of those states also require applicants to have firearms safety training. Do you support or oppose this law?"

It will come as a shock to the 39 senators who voted to deny law-abiding Americans their right to self-defense when traveling outside their home states, but the results showed that 83% of Americans support Right-to-Carry laws.

The poll also revealed that support for Right-to-Carry crosses party lines, with 86% of independent voters and 80% of Democratic voters supporting Right-to-Carry. This is no surprise to gun owners, however, who have long known that the majority of Americans support the Second Amendment and the right to self-defense.

The anti-gun community is trumpeting its 39-vote procedural "victory" as a major achievement. But just like the vote in the Senate, the overwhelming majority of Americans are on our side.

2A supporters in OH should know that our Senawhores, Sherrod Brown & Curious George RINOvich voted against reciprocating Carry Conceal laws.

Which OH Attorney General Candidate "really" supports our 2nd Amendment Rights?

Lifetime politicians -- you just got to love 'em! They have the say one thing - do another trick down pat. The other dog & pony politician trick they do well is "seeing the light." "Seeing the light" is when an out of work life time politician running for office or one running for reelection change their previous unpopular views.

In the upcoming race for Ohio Attorney General winner of the GOP primary between Delaware County Prosectuor Dave Yost and former Senator Mike "I Hate Guns" DeWine will face off against current Attorney General Dick Cordray.

Buckeye Firearms reposted an interview about OH gun owner rights between RightOhio's Matt Naugle & Cordray. In this interview you are able to tell the wishy-washy former supporter of the Brady Bill Cordray does his best at trying to pretend he is pro-gun and that he undeniably supports our 2nd Amendment rights. He says he does, but you can tell he's having a hard time swallowing that pill.

On the other hand, we see hypocrisy at its' best -- Mike DeWine! Putting on his big girl panties and tightening up his jock supporter a little bit, Little Mikey buys himself a water pistol, straps it on, does his best John Wayne impersonation and becomes a strong 2A defender over night -- even though his record proves otherwise...

From Buckeye Firearms --

Meanwhile, one of the Republicans who is seeking to oppose Cordray next November - anti-gun former Senator Mike DeWine - took time at his campaign announcement event to try and convince voters he is a convert.

From the Toledo Blade:

Mr. DeWine angered some with his votes on gun issues and by joining with U.S. Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) and Democrats in the "Gang of 14" that helped resolve a stalemate over confirmation of U.S. Supreme Court justices.

"I would ask to be judged by the totality of my work," Mr. DeWine said. "... I wrote a bill as state senator to say that, if you use a gun in the commission of a felony, we're going to add additional time to your sentence."

He said he understands where Ohioans stand on the gun issue and pledged to uphold allowing law-abiding citizens to carry concealed handguns. "It has worked, and it has worked well," he said. "The fears expressed in the past turned out not to be true."

Promises that he would simply do his job aside, DeWine did not renounce his 2006 Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (formerly Handgun Control Inc.)endorsement, his support for the Clinton Gun Ban, his support for closing the mythical "gun show loophole", or the many other gun control schemes he is on record as supporting. More...

Promises Promises! So summing up the OH Attorney General race we have current AG Dick Cordray reluctantly swallowing the 2A pill, Mike DeWine delusional about his 2A views and Delaware County Prosecutor Dave Yost who has a record of supporting and defending our 2A rights.

So who would a conservative person vote for in this election? Most likely it would be Yost, as I will. But, if you're a Crooked River Kool-Aid drinking social club member of Little Robbie's Republicans in Cuyahoga County the obvious choice would be the life time RINO -- Mike DeWine.

Mike "I Hate Guns" DeWine running for OH Attorney General

Did you ever have a headache that just kept coming back no matter what you do? Well, just like a headache that won't go away -- the migraine for OH gun owners is coming back. Reminiscent of a washed-up, punch drunk boxer that doesn't know when to quit -- former Senator Mike "I Hate Guns" DeWine is running for office - AGAIN.

This time, DeWine wants to be Ohio Attorney General! If elected as AG this gun hating, poltician can fulfill his anti-gun agenda with the stroke of a pen.

And as in the case with Rob Portman, the other lifetime politician, the party hacks in the OH Elephant Clan will be trying to force another life-time Republican politician down the throats of conservative voters...

From Buckeye Firearms --
Montgomery County Republican Party Chair Greg Gantt is circulating an email to "Republican insiders" that Mike DeWine will announce his candidacy for Ohio Attorney General on Wednesday, July 22nd at 9:45am at the Greene County Courthouse.

That's right, Mike DeWine.

The same Mike DeWine who was thrown out of his U.S. Senate seat by voters in 2006, after running around sporting a Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (formerly Handgun Control Inc.) endorsement because "his record really
wowed the group."

The same Mike DeWine who Human Events Online named among the Top 10 anti-gun U.S. Senators, noting that he was "consistently the only Republican to speak in favor of anti-2nd Amendment legislation on the Senate floor."

The same Mike DeWine who, shortly before his defeat in 2006, took a position in opposition to legislation which barred gun manufacturers, distributors, dealers or importers from frivolous lawsuits designed to put them out of business.

The same Mike DeWine who consistently cast his votes on the side of the most rabid anti-gun Democrats in the Senate.

The same Mike DeWine who, as Buckeye Firearms Association Legislative Chair Ken Hanson points out, is so hated by grassroots Republicans that GOP Voter Vault started keeping a separate data field for registered Republicans who indicated they would never support Mike DeWine.

The same Mike DeWine whose second cousin Kevin, in his position as Chairman of the Ohio GOP, is busy trying to reconstruct a party in shambles thanks to damage done by liberals like Mike.

So I'll ask the question once again: Will the Ohio Republican Party cement their minority status by backing anti-gun Mike DeWine for Attorney General?

A separate email from the Green County Republican Party indicates the campaign announcement will be held on the second floor of the Green County Courthouse, and says "PLEASE COME AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!"

Here's hoping some pro-gun voters accept their invitation. Come and invite your friends. And bring your "Anybody but Mike" signs. Bring your "Mike go home" signs. Bring your "Vote Freedom First" signs. Bring your "What part of 'shall not be infringed' don't you understand?" signs. "PLEASE COME AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!"

You can be sure the same social club members of the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County that have been complicit with, and have aided the local Democrats in destroying Cuyahoga County will be like wide-eyed, spittle drooling zombies that Little Mikie will be running for AG.

If DeWine wins the Elephant Clan primary, and God forbid the election, it will only be a matter of time before our guns are being melted down to build a statue somewhere.

Will Ohio Republican Party back Anti-Gun Mike DeWine?

It looks like once again the party hacks in the Republican party will support another retread politician. Like a punch drunk boxer that doesn't know when to quit - it appears Mike "take their guns" DeWine will be looking to run for office again!

Instead of supporting candidates that share our conservative values and honor the rights protected by our Constitution - the Republican party will support an openly anti-gun candidates is par for the course. And some of you thought Kevin DeSwine (ORP Chair) would be any better than the Blob Bennet the hack that he replaced as State Party Chairman. Nope - different name - same crap...

From Buckeye Firearms --
In 2006, the Ohio Republican Party employed a strategy of supporting candidates with state-wide name recognition (and anti-gun records) over pro-gun candidates that were less well-known.

The state party, under the control of then-Chairman Bob Bennett, backed anti-gun Jeanette Bradley over pro-gun Sandy O'Brien for Treasurer, and anti-gun candidate Betty Montgomery over pro-gun candidate Tim Grendell for Attorney General.

Believing that "O'Brien can't win" in November, party leaders sunk the party's resources into Bradley. Despite having earned statewide name recognition while serving as Lt. Governor in the Taft administration, and despite her opponent having almost no resources (in comparison to the Ohio Republican Party-backed candidate), pro-gun Sandy O'Brien defeated anti-gun Jeanette Bradley in the primary.

Betty Montgomery, meanwhile, who once infamously told Buckeye Firearms Association Chairman Jim Irvine she would "never be the candidate of the NRA", won her primary, but was defeated in November - by a far lesser known and less well-funded (but pro-gun!) Democrat.

Is history about to repeat itself, just one state-wide election cycle later? Will the Ohio Republican party, under the new leadership of Chairman Kevin DeWine, continue the failed strategy of supporting candidates with name recognition over those with a record of strong support for gun rights?

The 2010 race for Attorney General is shaping up to be an excellent bellwether.

The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that former U.S. Senator Mike DeWine, who lost his seat in 2006, has filed a designation of treasurer statement with the Ohio secretary of state's office, a move which will allow him to begin raising funds.

DeWine has not said what office he plans to seek, but many political observers believe he has an eye on the attorney general's office. Given that Delaware County Prosecutor Dave Yost has already declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Attorney General, DeWine's move could signal a 2006 deja-vu all over again, pitting vehemently anti-gun DeWine's strong name recognition against the lesser well-known, pro-gun Yost.

Has the Ohio Republican Party learned its lesson? If so, they will quickly signal their support for Dave Yost's campaign, and begin funneling dollars his way. Or, rather, will they decide to back the anti-gun, name recognition candidate, Mike DeWine?

Let's be clear about one thing. Even with party support, Mike DeWine is destined for the same fate Jeanette Bradley and Betty Montgomery suffered in 2006.

The most likely scenario is that he will lose in the primary, leaving the party and media "experts" to once again wonder how a little-known candidate like Prosecutor Yost beat a former U.S. Senator.

If DeWine somehow defeats Yost in the primary, he will find himself facing a pro-gun Democrat, incumbent Richard Cordray, come November.

Either way, DeWine will go back into the political dust bin with the last two well-known anti-gun Republican candidates.

Ask an Ohio Republican Party official today, and they'll be happy to tell you that Republicans are the pro-gun More...

And they wonder why people are disgusted with the Republicans! They can't even stand up for what they believe!

City of Strongsville's Back Door Attack on Gun Owners

The City of Strongsville is putting a new spin on how to make life uneasy for gun owners. Strongsville is strong arming your rights away by making it illegal to sell any of your privately owned firearms from your home.

Jim Irvine, Chairman of Buckeye Firearms Assoc. & Strongsville resident posted the following...

The City of Strongsville, Ohio has recently passed a new ordinance that bans the selling of any firearms, or part of a firearm or ammunition, or manufacture of any of the above in areas that are zoned residential. The ordinance reads in part:

1252.36 Prohibited uses.
Nothwithstanding (sic) anything in this Chapter 1252 to the contrary, the sale or manufacture for sale of a firearm, firearm components, deadly weapons, ammunition for a firearm, explosive is prohibited in all Residential Districts.

(Click here to read the entire ordinance)

So under this ordinance, which was sponsored by Mayor Tom Perciak and Councilman Ray Haseley, I could not sell a friend a gun in his house, or my house. We will be required to go down to the local grocery store, or a playground parking lot, or maybe even in front of city hall to do the transaction, because none of those areas are "residential districts."

We need to start by understanding that because this is a zoning issue, it is not preempted by Sec 9.68 that HB347 enacted to establish uniform firearm laws throughout the state.

In the North Royalton/ Strongsville Sun Star's coverage, Councilman Haseley is quoted as saying, "We wanted to put some teeth into the legislation and we don't want that type of thing being sold out of homes." (emphasis added)

Law Director Ken Kraus is quoted in the Sun Star's article as saying, "There haven't been any incidents created, like excessive parking, traffic or safety issues, but we just thought in reviewing our ordinances that we should close that loophole for the future." (emphasis added) More...

Continue reading Jim's post as he goes into further detail on the double speak he is getting from city officials.

Using other tactics, laws or edicts, like in IL where they are trying to impose a $1 million liability insurance requirement to be a gun owner, will now be the new flavor of the day for making it more difficult to become or continue being a legal gun owner.

Obama's new attack on 2nd Amendment threatens safety of Airplane Pilots & Passengers

The attacks on our 2nd Amendment by the Obama administration continue. Though not a full frontal assault - they are resorting to guerrilla warfare with selective small battles. It is apparent that if we want to keep our skies safe - we need to help the pilots from another Obama attack on our and their safety.

The following is an editorial from The Washington Times that was republished by Buckeye Firearms Association... (Emphasis Added)
After the September 11 attacks, commercial airline pilots were allowed to carry guns if they completed a federal-safety program. No longer would unarmed pilots be defenseless as remorseless hijackers seized control of aircraft and rammed them into buildings.

Now President Obama is quietly ending the federal firearms program, risking public safety on airlines in the name of an anti-gun ideology.

The Obama administration this past week diverted some $2 million from the pilot training program to hire more supervisory staff, who will engage in field inspections of pilots.

This looks like completely unnecessary harassment of the pilots. The 12,000 Federal Flight Deck Officers, the pilots who have been approved to carry guns, are reported to have the best behavior of any federal law enforcement agency. There are no cases where any of them has improperly brandished or used a gun. There are just a few cases where officers have improperly used their IDs.

Fewer than one percent of the officers have any administrative actions brought against them and, we are told, virtually all of those cases "are trumped up."

Take a case against one flight officer who had visited the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles within the last few weeks. While there, the pilot noticed that federal law enforcement officers can, with the approval of a superior, obtain a license plate that cannot be traced, a key safety feature for law enforcement personnel. So the pilot asked if, as a member of the federal program, he was eligible. The DMV staffer checked and said "no." The next day administrative actions were brought against the pilot for "misrepresenting himself." These are the kinds of cases that President Obama wants to investigate.

Since Mr. Obama's election, pilots have told us that the approval process for letting pilots carry guns on planes slowed significantly. Last week the problem went from bad to worse. Federal Flight Deck Officers - the pilots who have been approved to carry guns - indicate that the approval process has stalled out.

Pilots cannot openly speak about the changing policies for fear of retaliation from the Transportation Security Administration. Pilots who act in any way that causes a "loss of confidence" in the armed pilot program risk criminal prosecution as well as their removal from the program. Despite these threats, pilots in the Federal Flight Deck Officers program have raised real concerns in multiple interviews.

Arming pilots after Sept. 11 was nothing new. Until the early 1960s, American commercial passenger pilots on any flight carrying U.S. mail were required to carry handguns. Indeed, U.S. pilots were still allowed to carry guns until as recently as 1987. There are no records that any of these pilots (either military or commercial) ever causing any significant problems.

Screening of airplane passengers is hardly perfect. While armed marshals are helpful, the program covers less than 3 percent of the flights out of Washington D.C.'s three airports and even fewer across the country. Sky marshals are costly and quit more often than other law-enforcement officers.

Armed pilots are a cost-effective backup layer of security. Terrorists can only enter the cockpit through one narrow entrance, and armed pilots have some time to prepare themselves as hijackers penetrate the strengthened cockpit doors. With pilots, we have people who are willing to take on the burden of protecting the planes for free. About 70 percent of the pilots at major American carriers have military backgrounds.

Frankly, as a matter of pure politics, we cannot understand what the administration is thinking. Nearly 40 House Democrats are in districts were the NRA is more popular than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. We can't find any independent poll in which the public is demanding that pilots disarm. Why does this move make sense?

Only anti-gun extremists and terrorist recruits are worried about armed pilots. So why is the Obama administration catering to this tiny lobby at the expense of public safety?
I believe after 9/11 it is a no brainer that pilots should be armed. In fact I'd give 'em guns, tasers, cattle prods and any other weapon they so choose. Though it concerns firearms, this is not strictly a 2nd Amendment issue - this is about the safety of your loved ones. This is about a flying bomb with a payload of our defenseless fellow Americans be delivered as a kill vehicle on other defenseless Americans.

Buckeye Firearms also notes that The Federal Flight Deck Officers Association has posted an Action Alert asking people to contact their respective elected officials in D.C.

National Parks start first round of attacks on Hunting & Fishing

One thing that really pisses me off is when korrectnik's start attacking the rights of fisherman and hunters. Why? Because most often it is people who fish and hunt that respect the land and contribute the most to wildlife, parks and conservation. Many of the wildlife opportunities, trails, park land and children programs are funded on the backs of people who hunt and fish through the use of their licensing fees - yet we are continually portrayed as destroyers of wildlife.

The National Parks Service is advancing the latest attack on hunters & fishermen.

From NRA --
The National Park Service (NPS) has announced its intention to ban traditional ammunition containing lead in all its parks. The move would needlessly push hunters to use more costly bullets made of tungsten, copper, and steel. The restrictions, set to take affect by the end of 2010, were announced without regard to science and without soliciting feedback from sportsmens' groups.

"The NPS announcement demonstrates either complete ignorance or complete arrogance as to the effect that this policy will have on hunters," said NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox. "There is no science to support NPS's contention that the use of lead ammunition in hunting is causing environmental contamination, having a negative effect on wildlife, or posing a threat to the health of visitors or park staff. This policy, and the lack of communication in advance with the sportsmen's community, is a deliberate attempt to reduce the number of people who will want to hunt in the 60 parks that are open to hunting. This plays directly into the hands of radical anti-hunting organizations like the Humane Society of the U.S. which is advocating that hunters be banned from using lead ammunition.

"NRA-ILA will continue to be a voice of opposition against this unnecessary action and is committed to protecting the rights of hunters to use the ammo that is best suited for their hunting needs and budget.

To read NRA-ILA's comments regarding the Elk Management Plan and the use of lead ammunition in Theodore Roosevelt National Park, please click here.

This non-scientific proposal will do more harm than good.

Most often, sinkers, lures and ammunition that do not contain lead are called "non-toxic." Which if I were a liberal, I would be screaming this term is offensive to lead sinkers, lures and ammo. The no lead proposal for fishing, will only be a minimal increase in costs to fisherman. For example "non-toxic" sinkers are only a few pennies more. But in this economy, it can be the difference between a person feeding themselves and not eating.

Where the damage to wildlife comes in is with the "non-toxic" requirement for ammunition. The ban on lead (toxic) shot has long been a costly requirement for duck hunting. As an avid duck hunter, barring the last 4 yrs, I can speak from experience on this subject. The concern over the lead shot is that one, it contaminates the water and two, the ducks eat it. The problem with steel shot is it is not as dense as lead and therefore does not carry the energy for an effective kill - which leads to injured animals.

I have seen many ducks & geese shot at with steel shot, get 'winged' and fly off. Many of these injured waterfowl fly off and die a slow death later. The non-toxic shot, combined with hunting license, state & federal waterfowl stamp fees, can be cost prohibitive for many duck hunters, so they must use steel. For those having a hard time understanding the difference between lead shot and steel shot... I can shoot you with steel shot at 60 yards away and it probably wouldn't wven break your skin. On the other hand, if this were done with lead shot - you would probably have the same problem Cheney's hunting partner did.

So taking this 'non-toxic' requirement and placing over Big Game hunting is completely ludicrous. and nothing short of the start of banning hunting. Yes, after a rise of injured, White Tail Deer, Mule Deer, Elk, etc... the next step will be to scream it is inhumane and this will grease up the slippery slope towards a ban on hunting in National Parks. The next step would be a ban in hunting in all public wildlife areas and then private land. And this would be a back door attack on on 2nd Amendment rights. If hunting is banned, then there is no need for 'hunting guns.'

You think the Obama administration would never ban hunting? Don't kid yourself, there are many people out there that feel hunting should be banned completely. Currently, anti-hunting organizations have been contacting members of the NJ Assembly over a pro-hunting bill claiming that hunters comprise a small minority of the population and do not deserve to enjoy the outdoors 7 days a week.

Now how's that for some liberal hypocrisy - because hunters are a minority - they have no rights!

Ohio has a Record year for CCW Permits in 2008

While Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson is hell bent on taking away the rights of legal gun owners, Ohio Attorney General Dick Cordray just released the Ohio Concealed Handgun Law - 2009 Annual Report which shows a spike in demand for CCW licenses. Expecting attacks on our 2nd Amendment by the Obama administration, the spike in CCW permits and gun sales have a direct correlation with his election.

And guess what? All the screaming, crying, & there will be shoot-outs in the street if people are allowed to carry guns arguments were for naught. As predicted, the only people out there shootin' up the streets were the criminals - NOT the legal gun owners and CCW permit holders who were just acting in self-defense.

From Buckeye Firearms --
The Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray (D) has released the concealed handgun license (CHL) statistics for the fourth quarter of 2008 and the year-end report, Ohio Concealed Handgun Law - 2009 Annual Report. Just as we have seen a spike in demand for guns, we see a strong surge in concealed carry applications from people who want to carry a concealed weapon (CCW).

The fourth quarter has generally been a good quarter for licenses issued, but demand in the waning months of 2008 was stronger than anyone expected. The 10,668 regular licenses issued was an unprecedented 111% increase over the same period a year earlier. There were more licenses issued in the last three months of 2008 than the last quarter of 2006 and 2007 combined. It is also the highest demand for new licenses since the 3rd quarter of 2004, the first full quarter the CCW law was in effect.

Additionally, approximately 78% of expiring CHLs (5,476) were renewed in the fourth quarter. That means 265 people received a new license to carry a firearm every working day. New licenses averaged over 175 every business day – stronger demand than any quarter in the last 4 years!

In 2008, there were 33,864 regular licenses issued. That is a whopping 53% increase over last year, which was sharply up from the year prior. Issuances of Temporary Emergency Licenses (TELs) also doubled for the quarter, bringing the year to date total to 73 TELs issued. Adding in the renewals, Ohio's sheriffs issued 65,256 licenses to carry concealed handguns last year.

That number not only sets a new record, it shatters the old record of 45,562 licenses issued with a greater than 43 percent increase. While the prior record was only a partial year, it was also the first year the law was in effect. Typically the first year is the busiest time ever for issuances of concealed carry permits or licenses, due to the initial surge after a state passes the self-defense law. But there were even more licenses handed out per day last year in Ohio than the first year the concealed carry program was in effect....

RNC Chairman Michael Steele on Conservative Values & Conservative Cool-Aid Drinkers

I'm confused... but more on that later in the post.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele, in an interview with Mike Gallagher, has made it very clear, very, very clear on where the GOP stands on several of our core beliefs, especially that the institution of marriage is between one man and one woman...
Gallagher raised the question, "Is this a time when Republicans ought to consider some sort of alternative to redefining marriage and maybe in the road, down the road to civil unions. Do you favor civil unions?"

"No, no no. Why would we backslide on a core, founding value of this country? I mean this isn’t something that you just kind of like, 'Oh well, today I feel, you know, loosey-goosey on marriage,'" Steele said.

He continued, "I mean this is a foundational principle of this country. This is a foundational principle of organized society. This isn't something that in America we decided, 'Let's make it between a man and a woman, and oh, we changed our mind and make it between anyone and anyone.'"

"So no room even for a conversation about civil unions in your mind?" Gallagher asked.

"What’s the difference?"
Steele responded.
Exactly! There is no difference!

A civil union is nothing more than same-sex marriage with a Haloweeny costume on it. Not only is it like putting lipstick on a pig - but it's putting lipstick on someone/something that it does not belong.

And how does Chairman Steele feel about the cool-aid drinking Republicans like ORP Chairman Kevin DeWine who wants to hang out in the big tent and play hop-scotch with liberals and Democrats...

But he said he didn't need "to water down my values to have you be a part of my team."

"I'm here to tell you I know what our identity is," Steele said. "We're the conservative party in America."

"We believe in the right to life, the right to bear arms, to live our lives as God has ordained it, fiscal responsibility. I don't need the government to come in and redefine it for me."

If Chairman Steele is reaffirming our position on the defense of marriage as one of the main principals of our party - then I think it would only make sense that the State GOP & County GOP groups feel the same way. I believe this should also include that our state and county parties not only "saying" they believe in our principals - but standing strong in defending them.

And this leads to the point of this post and where I get confused...

Here in our wonderful little corner of America called Cuyahoga County several communities have enacted that lipstick wearing pig known as the Domestic Registry. Now icing up that slippery slope with frigid water from Lake Erie - the City of Cleveland will, without a vote of the residents, be enacting a Domestic Registry too. Cleveland's Domestic Registry, sponsored by Cleveland Clowncilman Joe Cimperman, is being used to promote the Gay Olympics & Gay Rodeo the City of Cleveland will be hoping to host.

For all the, "Are there any conservative leaders in Cuyahoga County Sparky's," it doesn't stop there! Nope - now Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson is again trying to outlaw your right to own and carry a firearm.

So if there are any conservative leaders or an active & effective GOP party in Cuyahoga County - where is the outcry against this full-frontal assault on our Constitution and our conservative values?

We can only hope that one day conservatives in this area will have a voice. But then - we can't be afraid to use it!

Buckeye Firearms Foundation sues Cleveland to stop enforcement of illegal gun laws

The City of Cleveland, namely Mayor Jackson, is thumbing his nose at a recent Ohio Supreme Court ruling and the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling affirming our right to keep and bear arms.

After a recent execution style shooting of two innocent victims - you would think the Mayor would want residents and visitors to be safe - instead he would rather you be a victim of Cleveland crime.

The semi-wadcutter warriors at Buckeye Firearms Association, once again defending and fighting for our 2nd Amendment rights, have filed a suit in Cuyahoga County Court asking for a temporary restraining order to stop Cleveland's continued harassment & prosecution of legal, law-abiding gun owners and CCW permit holders under local ordinances restricting gun ownership and concealed carry (CCW).

Jim Irvine, President of Buckeye Firearms Association, doesn't take Jackson's goose-stepping on our 2nd Amendment rights and ignoring of the law too lightly...

"The Mayor said, 'I don't care what state law is.' We say, 'Tell it to the judge.'" said Jim Irvine. "We are a nation of laws, not of men. But apparently the men running our city don't think rules apply to them."

"The vast majority of police officers support a citizen's right to keep and bear arms. It's unfortunate that these fine men and women have to report to a Chief who is defying the law," Irvine continued.

Like I have said before, with Obamao now being President, we can expect that our 2nd Amendment right to legally possess, own and carry firearms will be under constant attack. Like Cleveland Mayor Jackson shows, with Obamoa as POTUS, the anti-gun groups feel empowered and not only feel that they are above the law, they are more than willing to ignore the law. And again, this is all the more reason we need a known entity serving as our next chief justice on the Ohio Supreme Court.

Buckeye Firearms Foundation can only lead the fight - click here - to help and join their efforts in saving your right to keep and bear arms.
