Most Valuable Progressives of 2008

Liberal ragazine, The Nation, recently released a list of "Most Valuable Progressives" for 2008.

Get the New Years confetti out of the trash - two of the winners call Ohio home...

From the PD --

U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Toledo and the Policy Matters Ohio research group, founded by Shaker Heights resident Amy Hanauer, were named Most Valuable House Member and Most Valuable State or Regional Group.

It credits Kaptur with keeping Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson from getting free rein in the bailout of the financial services industry.

"It was Kaptur who rallied the opposition--successfully blocking Paulson's first proposal in the House and forcing minor improvements in the plan," the article reads.

The magazine praises Policy Matters, which has offices in Cleveland and Columbus, for forcing debate and linking national efforts to local communities in Ohio.

"Intellectually rigorous, yet always accessible in its approach, this group has produced more than 160 reports that have given Ohio's progressive activists and legislators the tools they need to challenge corporate spin and pressure tactics."

Fellow RPCC member, GOP Flame, correctly points out, "the anti-American slug Kaptur called our Founding Fathers - 'terrorists'". This alone was probly enough to win Kaptur the award.

Reading through the PD comments, and with Ohio bleeding jobs & begging for a bailout, it amazes me how the left can be proud that Policy Matters is so anti-business and contributing to the loss of jobs.

Do they not understand - to have a job, unless self-employed, you must work for a busniness?

After reading the other recipients of the award that the left claims is an honor, I'm thinking it should be renamed - "Biggest internal threats to the existence of our country" for 2008.
