  1. Having campaigned all over Cuyahoga County last year, no other community has the same amount of really nice events as Bedford.

  2. Thanks Matt

The season kick's off this weekend with the Rotary Rib Burn-Off.

The Strawberry Festival (43rd) is the main fund raiser for the Bedford Historical Society. We just added the car show last year.

All weekend there is a live band playing at the Gazebo, strawberry sundaes, strawberry shortcake, art & craft vendors, tons of food, and games, etc... on the square.

On Saturday night, with the above going on, we close down Broadway for the car show.

Here we have a DJ, t-shirts, the trophy table, shirts, a display on the old Sportsmans Park, etc....

Mr. Graceffo (LaGra's Jewelers & LaGra's Pasta Sauce) will be selling pasta, lemon ice, and as usual giving out tastings of his sauce. The stuff is great!

Last year were about 125 cars angled parked along Broadway Ave through the Historical District in Downtown. We had about 20 car classes. This year we have 30 classes, plus Best of Show.

The Bedford Historical Society exists mainly on our fund raisers and membership dues ( $10yr). Which pretty much pays our utility bills.

The Bedford Historical Society, is a non-profit 501(C)3 orginization, and is operated almost entirely by volunteers.

We started off in a school room at the old Bedford High (Central Elementary)in 1955 by a few residents, mainly Dick Squire, dedicated to the preservation of history; particularly an area known as Township 6 in Range 11 of the Western Reserve.

First settled in 1813, this area became the original Bedford Township, which is now the communities of Bedford, Bedford Hts, Oakwood, Maple Hts, and Walton Hills.

We currently own and restored three buildings; 1874 Town Hall, 1832 Hezekiah Dunham House, and 1892 Old Baptist Church. These buildings are maintaiined by the Bedford Historical Society and are on the National Register of Historical Places.

We also maintain a 1920 Passenger Station in the 1832 W&LE (Wheeling & Lake Erie) Depot.

We also have a restored and operational 1894 printing press, that will print car placards for the car show.

We also offer many educational programs to adults and children.

Special tours are always welcome and addmission is always FREE!
