This is pretty upsetting!
These bloated institutions need more money right? Some historical societies exist on minimal yearly dues and fund raisers, and these money hogs feel they need more....
From Eye on the Statehouse --
Ohio’s historical societies are very persistent when it comes to getting state aid and senators are very receptive.
After securing $350,000 in government earmarks in the Senate version of the state budget bill (an increase of $50,000 from the unanimously passed House budget bill), the Cincinnati Museum Center and the Western Reserve Historical Center today asked members of the Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Committee to bring each organization’s state funding up to $500,000 per year.
The Ohio Historical Society already shares its funding with these two organizations.
Further, the Cincinnati Museum Center raises nearly $14 million a year in private donations, while Western Reserve generates almost $6 million.
These two organizations must consider state funding low hanging fruit.
