Columbus - Former State Sen. Jeffry Armbruster broke Ohio law by using the influence of his office to get lower workers' compensation rates for his private business, a state ethics panel said Thursday.

The Joint Legislative Ethics Committee referred its findings to Franklin County prosecutor Ron O'Brien to consider criminal charges.

An attorney for Armbruster said the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation was merely correcting a mistake when it lowered the rates of a gas station company owned in part by Armbruster, a North Ridgeville Republican whose term ended at the close of last year.

Mistake? Give me a break!

The only mistake was that he got caught! Are we to believe that the OBWC just lowered the rates of Armbruster's gas station, for no reason?

A thief is a thief, regardless of party affiliation!
