This city should also lose any money they get directly or indirectly from any tobacco taxes!
From the PD --
A year after Ohio told smokers to step outside, North Royalton has decreed the outside out of bounds at city parks and recreation areas.
The Cleveland suburb is the first community in Ohio to ban outdoor smoking on public lands, health officials said. The restrictions cover soccer fields, parks and ball fields. And no, you can't grab a smoke in your car in the parking lot.
Mayor Robert Stefanik said he introduced legislation after hearing from baseball boosters who were tired of people lighting up in the stands. Cigarette butt litter has also been a problem, he said.
These tormented liberal korrectnik's should have SS patches on their shirts! As for the Mayors so-called supporters of these goose-stepping tactics - must be athletic supporters.
I am a baseball coach on my son's t-ball team - I never smoked in front of the children. I would rather kids see somebody smoking - than watch pro ball players shoot steroids!
I tend to agree with you- this is a bit excessive.
ReplyDeleteBut at least with shooting up steriods there are no second hand steriods impacting your kids' health.
Though the used needles might be worse than the cigarette butt litter.
Hate to say it, but this is a trend that is going upwards, not the other way around.
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap - Joseph we agree on something!
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing towards the smokers has gone overboard!
The left cries about the Patriot Act, unfairly intruding in our lives, yet here we have a democrat mayor and a group of liberal korrectnik's making smoking in your car illegal.
Considering that the county recently passed a tax increase to pay for the arts, I don't think North Royalton is fulfilling its civic duty...it should be encouraging more people to smoke in order to keep the govt. coffers full.

ReplyDeleteI am still trying to understand the logic of the taxing the hell out of cigarettes and then outlawing them!
