Cleveland's NAACP leader fined $12,000 for BWC scam

Here is an update from an earlier post on NAACP Cleveland president, George Forbes being charged in the BWC scam.

I heard George Forbes talking about his sentence on the radio yesterday afternoon. It seems as he is taking this in stride and is really not to concerned.

Not that we should expect any differant from Forbes. Forbes is just another one of the African-Americans leaders in the Cleveland who have failed this area and his fellow blacks.

From Ohio News Now --

A former member of the commission that oversees the state fund for injured workers was fined $12,000 Thursday after pleading guilty to filing inaccurate financial disclosure reports with the state, his lawyer said.

The plea by George Forbes is the latest conviction in a string of criminal cases that have resulted from a scandal uncovered two years ago at the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation following more than $300 million in lost investments.

Forbes, 76, president of the Cleveland NAACP, also pleaded no contest in Franklin County Municipal Court and was found guilty of two counts of improperly receiving gifts of meals and airplane flights from two investment marketers linked to companies doing or seeking business from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, attorney Charles Saxbe said. Half of the fine is restitution to the bureau and Forbes also must perform 60 hours of community service under the plea agreement, Saxbe said. More....

No jail time? NO JAIL TIME??? You have got to be kidding me!

Forbes will just use the money he ripped off from Cuyahoga County residents to pay his fine.

I can't believe it! This is a much more serious violation of public trust than what the Cuy. Co. BOE workers were jailed for.

Anyone want to bet his
community service is not in an orange jumpsuit picking up trash on the side of a freeway?
