Cuyahoga County Judicial Races

The PD did a run down on the races for judge in Cuyahoga County. There appears to be the usual jockeying for position by the democrat candidates facing primaries races.

There will be 2 seats available on the Probate Court - 1 will be to replace retiring democrat Presiding Judge John Donnelly. The winner of this primary will take the cake as there is NO Republican candidate running.

The winner of the democrat primary for the seat of retiring democrat Probate Judge John E. Corrigan will face off against GOP candidate - Common Pleas Judge Kathleen Sutula. Residents of Cuyahoga County do not know how fortunate we are to have a person like Judge Sutula on the bench. Without a doubt, this All-Pro Judge, Judge Sutula, should be a hands down winner in any race she enters.

Judge Sutula's record will reflect she is more than capable to serve on Probate Court. Through her long time service on the bench, Judge Sutula and her no nonsense, but fair, approach in protecting the residents of Cuyahoga County from the thugs that are slowly taking over our streets, should easily convince voters she is the right women for the job.

For anyone keeping count - the republicans were only able to find candidates for 5 of the 17 races. S0 even before the general election comes, by forfiet, the RPCC is already down 0-12 to the Cuyahoga County Democrats - just for judicial races.

This means the RPCC only found candidates for 30% of the judicial races.... I wonder if our chairman would be willing to take only 30% of his pay.

  1. One other thing to keep in mind is that if Sutula wins, which would be a nice feather in the cap for the local Republicans, it also means Strickland will get to appoint her succcessor.

  2. Yes, I realized that as I was making the post. LIke you said I hope she wins as she deserves it, but it will be sad to lose a judge in common pleas.

Guess It wouldn't be bad if our party had the ability to find a candidate. With all the lawyer hacks in the party - one would think they could have found a few from their social club to run for office.

BUt maybe many of "social club" members are smarter than I think. They are probably thinking why should they run... half the damn party officers in the RPCC donate to the democrats in Cuyahoga County anyway.

But never fear - We got a hell of a race to watch in the Commissioners race. I am predicting a landslide victory for the glaringly more able candidate. Years of doing the 'right' thing will be sure to propel this candidate to victory and send the loser home - for good I hope!

  3. Lillian Greene is an insidious and erosive presence in the Cuyahoga county judiciary. She gives rulings for favored attorneys at the expense of judicial standards. Her staff seems to be chosen on the basis of race and operates at a low administrative and intellectual level. Greene thinks public position is a way to make a living and a vehicle to advance African American staff to positions of influence in public life. It would be nice if the people she chose were minimally able, but that is not her primary concern. Greene has substituted personal relations and pragmatism as the basis for decision making. Everyone says she is "very nice' but lazy. She is also famous for inexcusable ruling delays and docket clearing when she and her staff are overwhelmed by the intellectual tasks for which they are not equipped.

Get her out. Exhibit "A" for the problems with affirmative action.

  4. Definitely agree with the above comment.

The sad thing about the race between Russo and Greene, is that it's a classic case of choosing your poison. If Greene wins, Tubbs Jones gets her paws on probate. If Russo wins, then Mason has control.

    Truly a lose-lose proposition.

  5. Then this means we will have to work hard for our candidate in the race.... Damn we don't have a candidate in that race!

Sure would have been nice if there was an group here in Cuyahoga County that concentrated on helping GOP candidates and advancing conservative values.

You would think there would be a county party or something. You know where a body of people with the same ideals elects a smaller group of people to advance their beliefs.

If we had one of these groups since we are in Cuyahoga County we could call it something like..., The Cuyahoga County Republican Party, or something like that.

Through a committee we could elect a person to lead the group - He will be our chairman.

His responsibilities would be to find candidates, raise money for candidates and not salaries and overhead. The committees he would form would picked on merit and not bank deposits.

Of course a good chairman would only surround himself with people he knows ONLY supports, endorsed party memebers the republican cause or conservative values.

See if we had someone like a chairman guy here - he would see that the democrats were putting up two poor choices (Greene & Russo). He would have made sure our conservative group ran somebody against these two jugheaded jurists.

It is a shame that one of these two will be GIVEN a seat on the Probate Court.

    Only if....

  6. This is a travesty. Allowing Greene & Russo to go unopposed in the general election speaks volumes about what the RPCC has become. non-existent and non-effective.

putting up only 5 out of 17 candidates should cost someone (Frost)their job.

Why have I finally come to this conclusion? A big part of it is because our party is supporting Mayor Sutherland for COunty Commissioner against Lawson-Jones.

Peter Lawson-Jones is clearly the wrong candidate to be running against. She should be running against Hagan. Jones acts more like a republican than Sutherland does.

One of the other reason I am fed up with the party is something I heard through the grape vine.

King, I have been told you will be making motions to censure some high ranking officials in our party for supporting and donating to democrats. When I found out who these people were I almost fell over! I have never felt so betrayed in my life!

If you make this motion you can count on having my support, but only if done by secret ballot. If it is an open vote, I will vote against censuring, sorry but the "social club" you refer to is made up of many of my friends.

Hearing about these donations was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

PLEASE do not let them try to talk you out of this. As more people find out about these donations, you will find you have more support than you nay think.

  7. I just had this article emailed to me. I am not happy about the lack of candidates in the judicial races. I am more upset about the choice of candidates we are running for county offices.

I fully support any motion to censure party members supporting democrats.

Has anybody ever been censured before? Do you think this will curb future support of democrats by party members?

  8. who are the republican donors to the dems? spill the beans. there are some good judicial candidates that weren't asked to run. i would think that steve terry could be beaten.

  9. to answer yur questions -

==Has anybody ever been censured before? Yes. The most recent was of a Gary Suhadolnik a longtime loyal party member. After Ken Blacksmell attacked Suhadolnik by saying he wanted abolish his job - turnpike director - by selling the turnpikes, Suhadolnik put a Strickland bumper sticker on his car and came out in support of Strickland.

Our chicken shit chairman, Rob Frost, supported this censure against Suhadolnik!

Over the last year we have no less than 7 party members donating money to democrat candidates facinf republican opposition, one elected official seeking higher office who publicly endorsed a democrat judicial candidate over an endorsed republican candidate, and another elected official that pushed a demcrat sponsored sales tax increase.

Our party has beeen notified that I intend to make a motion to censure some of these individuals. I asked that our chairman step down from the chair and speak on behalf of censuring the democrat supporting republicans.

As expected our chairman has not reponded.

Our party (RPCC) and the chairman have be given option to do the right thing. If these guys would apologize to the committees for donating to democrats - I will be their biggest supporter against any motion to censure.

If they do not man up and do the right thing - ALL of them will suffer the consequences. It will not be nice - for them.

Do I think it iw will curb RPCC memebrs donating to democrats - Hell no - The leadership can't and won't stop it. In fact as long as Frost gets his paycheck he could care a less who people in our party give too.

So until are chairman has the balls to say - Yes, donating, voting for, or supporting a demcorat is grounds for censure. Pretty Sad1 - Frost supports a censure motion over a Strcikland Bumper Sticker, yet feels there is nothing wrong with donating money to dems who have republican opposition, a local Mayor publicly supporting a democrat over an endorsed republican candidate from our own party.

it will only be a short matter of time before this behavior begins to change.

I can't give the names out yet... I want to make sure our chairman has every opportunity to try and do the right thing about these people. If he does not willfully do this, a censure motion will be made against every single one of the party members and officers sleeping with the democrats.
