Local Mayor Switches Political Party

Michael McIntyre of the PD noted in his "Tip Off" today about a local city mayor switching political parties....
  • Party hopping:

Kathy Mulcahy, mayor of Orange, has switched allegiances from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party. She says there's no sinister political plot behind it.

I have been a Republican head on a Democratic heart my whole life," she said. "I'm now going to follow my heart."

I wonder why she switched parties?

A republican head on a democrat heart.... under the current power structure & leadership of our party - that's a prerequisite for advancement in the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County! She would be prime for an appointment to a committee or becoming a party officer with these type of credentials.

The newsworthy part of this is tid bit is NOT that she was a republican head on a democrat heart..... it's that she's switching parties! Mayor Mulcahy could have continued masquerading around with a conservative cape shrouding her democrat heart - the others do.

With the Cuyahoga County Democrat party so saturated with candidates some democrat mayors have switched to the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County over the past several years.

They figure with the RPCC barely able to get someone to run for lunch, let alone public office, there is less competition for them.

But then again maybe she heard the RINO Hunter's were coming!

  1. How true your quote is : "that's a prerequisite for advancement in the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County! She would be prime for an appointment to a committee or becoming a party officer with these type of credentials."

Its a one way ticket to the top with the CC Republican party. She must not care about career advancement!

  2. lotsa party hoppin with the judicial candidates. looks like we'd be a little more supportive of those who pull the right ballot every election cycle. i know of several who ran as republicans, lost, and switched parties. stay loyal to those who are loyal to you. when will they learn? don't endorse and appoint people who have switched parties in the last 10 years. you don't see the dems doing that do you?

  4. hi guys - thanks for commenting.

Ben - many may dispute that assertion, but sometimes the truth hurts. Until the infection is purged we will continue to flounder here as a party.

Unfortunately conservative values no longer guide our wayward county party. For that matter, pride & integrity have been overtaken by ego, greed, ignorance, arrogance and a lack of 'nads.

The power structure in place is allowed to do this because nobody challenges them. They may talk about things they are unhappy with amongst themselves - but then do nothing. Worse is they get and speak then tip toe around what they are trying to say.

WE are past tip toeing around. With the direction we are going and some of the candidates we are putting forward, the RPCC needs their foot stomped & my stomper is not broke!

Joe - good point! Since most of our party leaders talk our of their ass, that would be the perfect spot for their heads.

Anon - the RPCC has a history of not fully supporting their candidates. But for a few people - I believe they check loyalty to our conservative values at the door.

As for - when will they learn? Under the current structure never. To many people refuse to speak their true feelings. To often they will bark amongst themselves or discuss things they would like to see changed but never take action to accomplish these goals.

    This will change!

  5. time magazine man of the century ( 20th century) winston churchill:
"he who is young and is not liberal has no heart. he who is older and is not conservative has no brain." ah, the libs hate that one (especially the aging 60's hippie types). heronner (the mayor) must have forgotten the wisdom found in that statement.

  6. Say what you want about changing parties, and punishing those you think are disloyal. Get over it, Cuyahoga County has become a one party town! At least she gets to vote for/against candidates.

The GOP has left town! and its not coming back to Cuyahoga County. Just ask someone in the National GOP. If we where all smart, we would become Dems and turn this county around.
