Trakas for 10th District

I finally agree with the PD! I guess there is always a first.

From the PD --

In eight years in the Ohio House, Jim Trakas showed an independent streak that didn't always endear him to Republican Party leaders. Although we disagreed with him on some issues, Trakas demonstrated real leadership in arguing for larger state investments in higher education and technology.

Term limits required Trakas to give up his House seat at the end of 2006. Now he is seeking the Republican nomination for the 10th Congressional District seat held by six-term incumbent Dennis Kucinich.

Trakas is by far the better candidate in the race and should be nominated.

It is this independent streak that has ALWAYS endeared me and others too Jim. If asked to describe Jim I would have to say first - he is one of the few people in the RPCC that has any integrity.

In my opinion, Jim could be described as very loyal & humble person with conservative values, but guided on doing what he thinks is right. As an elected official Jim was not afraid to make the hard decisions and do what he felt was right, regardless of what the party told him to do.

You ask - "morals & ethics in an elected official?" Yes, these morals and ethic's have not always made Jim a "party favorite," but has made him a "people's favorite." Sad to say this is something not often seen in our elected officials and why it is important we elect people like Jim Trakas.

Trakas will be facing Jason Werner in the primary. Being nice and showing restraint, the PD describes Werner in what can be considered the political understatement of the year.....
"....so extreme that they place him well to the right of many of the Republican Party's most conservative members."

Sporting a heavy hitting & high profile endorsement from his Mom & Grandmother on his website, Werner would be best suited running for class president or to the store for a gallon of milk. While his intentions may be honorable, his efforts are misguided and futile.

Trakas having served this area proudly and successfully as a councilman in Independence, in the Ohio House of Representitives for 8 years and as RPCC chairman, Jim knows exactly what is needed to recreate the Cuyahoga County area. While many of us will miss him, sending Jim to Washington will help not only District 10 but the Cuyahoga County area as a whole.

  1. If the people of the Tenth actually give Trakas a chance and listen to him, this could be a close election. One of Trakas's best attributes is his ability to articulate a conservative message.

  2. Prince how right you are!

The key to this race is Jim being heard. Getting his message out will be the key.

The floorboard of candidates from the other side bring nothing to the table.

I would have to differ from you on your take of Jim's ability to articulate a conservative message.

I believe Jim is able to articulate a sound message that rings true in the hearts & soul of many voters in the 10th District. If they listen - I find it hard to believe they will not agree.

Coming from working class roots, and being a tireless worker in his own right (except phones)Jim really is just another one of the working guys from this area.

His message clearly articulates his working class background and experiences of growing up and representing this area for such a long time.

Jim understands what we need for this area to become relevant again. Most importantly, he knows how to be effective.

Top to bottom Jim has a firm grasp on all the important issues we face here at home and knows how to successfully get that message across in DC. Though I do not live in the 10th, I could not think of a better messenger to D.C. for this area.

  4. i'll definitely be in contact with trakas when the campaign begins in earnest. i have tried to reach him via his website, but it is still under construction. i have some very definitive ideas for some targeted mailers and a list of 1200 targets (addresses and phone numbers) who would be very receptive to jim's message. there is an interesting on-going debate about kucinich on the plain dealer = spin machine blog. you may find it interesting and decide to weigh in.

Anon - If I may so inquire - are your initials J.M. and you were a half-way decent wrestler? :)JK

If so, please call me and I can this info passed on right away. If not I would bet Jim's website will be up and running shortly. You can always contact him by leaving a message at the RPCC HQ. The link is at the bottom oh this page.

As for the PD blog site - i have been blocked. i was a little to honest about the phony county reform and the criminal CWD.

  6. no, that's not me. i don't think we know each other. the website i was talking about isn't the plain dealer site. it is a new one hosted by a blogger named tricia and the name of the site is plain dealer = spin machine. if you type that in your search engine, it will list her blog as the first available selection. she's a big kucinich supporter and the comments after her disappointment with the plain dealer's endorsement of simpleman are interesting. just thought you might like to chime into the conversation on that one. i'll be in touch with trakas soon. thank you.
