The article spoke about the purchase of property for parking needed for the new Juvenile Detention center to be built at E.93rd & Quincy (Great Neighborhood).
It also mentioned a parking garage on Prospect Ave. being bought for $5 million dollars to make space for the new county administration building.
The article also pointed out asbestos removal being done by the county at the old Ameritrust building -
Meanwhile, asbestos removal has begun in one of the buildings that commissioners bought nearly two years ago for the new county center.
Commissioners paid $22 million for the old Ameritrust complex, including the historic rotunda, 28-story tower, three adjacent buildings and a parking garage. They plan to consolidate into one center nearly 2,000 employees now in various buildings the county owns or leases.
Asbestos removal is ongoing in the smallest of the buildings, but County Administrator Dennis Madden said abatement should begin in the tower by spring. County officials estimate it will cost $10 million to remove the asbestos from the buildings.
As my site will show, I am quick to point out wasteful spending and corruption in the Cleveland and Cuyahoga County area, I take issue with a post on Right Angle Garbage (RAG).
The traffic at this site (RAG) continues to decline because of a certain commentators mindless attacks on posters, attacks on fellow republicans, misguided and inflammatory posts and espousing views that are not in touch with mainstream conservatives.
In another misguided attack the post takes issue with the asbestos removal -
Cuyahoga County Commissioners Love Asbestos
then remarks at the end - So they clean it up, then tear it down.
Without getting into details, whenever a building is to be tore down an asbestos survey is conducted. Per EPA requirements and Asbestos Mitigation Plan is to be submitted for approval and shown to be complete before the building is razed.
So to tear the building down, without removing the asbestos, would not have been allowed.
The real issue to be taken is, the new county building is expected to cost $120 million to $200 million.
As I repeatedly state, in light of the rampant mismanagement of projects and incompetence of the democrats at the county and city level, we need to make sure the oversight of this project is completely transparent.
The other issue would be - With Cleveland again being named one of the poorest cities in the U.S. how does the county justify spending all this money for a new complex?

ReplyDelete1) RAB is great, and
2) This garbage the PD is trying to pass off as news was in the Scene magazine from Jan 31. It is a good story but this old news - all through Dimora
I guess if you like absolute opinions of a porky little kid that stutters, then you would think RAG is a good site.
ReplyDeleteI see many other people don't think the same way.
Yes, I know the info was in Scene magazine. Only posted about it because M, M, M, M, Matt once again showed his ignorance and tried to make news where there wasn't.
If he would stop playing with his Ken Blackwell and Mark Folery blow - up dolls long enough he would know asbestos abatement is required before the building is razed.
If you want accurate information on conservative issues, return here. If you want to read garbage go to RAG
