More Attacks on Italians by Plain Dealer Bigots

Once again the PD shows their double standard of bigotry & hate towards people not in a politically correct designated “special class.”

Would you call the below picture racist? If it were used in context with claims of Obama’s socialist, share the wealth – streak would it be racist?

Of course most people would - the picture makes light of black stereotypes in a mean spirited way. And besides, it is now illegal to make fun of Obama anyway.

During the election the PD ran a disgustingly offensive photo towards anyone who is white. In attempts at symbolizing the Civil-Rights struggle and Barack’s impending election, the photo depicted Barack holding scissors cutting the noose from around his, the black man's, neck – as McCain and Palin were shown off to the side.

The PD just recently slams an anti-gay Ohio, but rains down showers of praise on Cleveland’s Clowncil members for their supporting a domestic registry...

Creating a domestic-partnership registry in Cleveland will hardly undo the symbolic and human damage that Ohio voters inflicted on the state when they passed a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in 2004 -- but it would be a start.

By approving a registry that will give both same-sex and opposite-sex couples documentation they can use to navigate public and private bureaucracies, Cleveland can declare that tolerance and openness are qualities that define this community. Given the importance of creativity in the modern knowledge economy, such a welcoming message has never been more important for a city and a region....

So obviously the PD tries to portray themselves as an open-minded publication accepting of all lifestyles, races, religions and ethnicities.

That being said, would you think the below picture represents those qualities in a newspaper?

If you are thinking there is nothing wrong with this above picture – please explain why and how it differs from the Obama picture at the top. Is it OK for the PD to print pictures like this about Italians, but not other ethnic groups?

I am not defending anyone IF they did something criminal, but IF they did, should that allow the PD to take shots at their ethnic heritage? Is it responsible for the PD to convict these men in the media – possibly tainting any chance of a fair trial? Is it responsible for the PD to cast a shadow over all Italians – just because we are Italian?

Just like their rendition of "That's Amore," attacks and slights on Italians are routine in the Plain Dealer. Here, once again, the PD takes another shot at Italians…
Immigrants also are having a profound impact on Solon. As the city's Asian community has grown, so, too, has its smart quotient. The Census Bureau found that 57 percent of Solon residents hold at least a bachelor's degree, up from 50 percent in 2000.

Better cannoli and more Catholic schoolchildren are coming to Mentor, where 20 percent of residents now claim Italian ancestry, up sharply from 13 percent in 2000.

And urban ills have seeped into the city of Medina...
Didn’t see nothing about with all the Chinese moving in Solon – cat owners better beware - there is bound to be an increase in Chinese restaurants. Or with the increased Jewish population in Solon it has been noticed more miles per gallon have been getting “squeezed” out of a gallon of gas.

Even when they use the politically correct word for an increase of blacks moving into an area - “urban” – no remarks about an increase in “BB-Q Rib Joints.” But when it comes to the Italians increasing in Mentor - they make references of Cannoli’s and Catholic schools.

Most Italians are well aware of the stigma that comes with a vowel at the end of your name – among other things, you are automatically assumed to be in the Mafia. I was lucky enough to not have a vowel at the end of my name, but I can’t hide my dashing, greasy, Italian/Sicilian looks. I just laugh off the – “Wow, you look like you belong in the ‘Soprano’s’” remarks anymore and the, “do you know anyone in the mafia,” question that usually follow.Being a second generation Italian-American, I was raised to laugh at most of this crap.

We Italians know everyone wants to be like us – since they can’t - we become an easy target. I can’t fake anger over every slight of Italians and Sicilians, as I thought Rev. Wrights’ garlic-nosed Italian’s remark was absolutely hilarious. But it is different when it is coming from the murmuring moron’s at the PD.

The hypocritical bigots at the PD do nothing but reinforce these stereotypes of Italians, because we are not one of the recognized PC special classes!

Like I stated earlier, most of this stuff I laugh off, but the hook noses at the PD can kiss my big meatball-eating, spaghetti-bending, garlic-smelling Italian/Sicilian ass!
