Marc Dann a Mentor?

And some people wonder why attorneys get a bad rap....

From the PD --
Marc Dann, who blamed his inexperience for embarrassing lapses that cost him his job as state attorney general after just 16 months, is now a member of a group that mentors attorneys general across the country. More...

Dann will head up the mentoring class of - "What happens when you hire criminals in the AG office and coerce staffers into sex."

Does it get any better than this? Marc Dann on Drugs!

Oh Boy this is going to be good!

Matt from NaugBlog picked up on a post made at Buckeye State Barf about former ass-grabbing AG Marc Dann.

Rumors are beginning to run rampant about Marc Dann-tarsky alleged drug use and there may be pictures!

Screw Toy gets Screwed Over!

I love this one....

Jessica "On My Back" Utovich is crying the democrat blues about her former job as the Travel Chick for disgraced former ass-grabbing AG Marc Dann.

After turning in her resignation, Utovich claims Marc Dann urged her not to quit and stated she could rescind her resignation. Dann's "office squeeze of convenience," tried and was denied.

Then at a press conference Utovich finally realized after being Dann's "screw toy" - she was getting "screwed over."

From the PD --

Dann followed with another news conference that morning and dropped a bombshell, admitting to the extramarital affair.

He also responded to a question by saying he did not know why Utovich had quit and added that she was not forced out.

It was then, Utovich said, that she felt betrayed and learned she indeed was out of a job.
The girl sleeping with a married man felt betrayed? Huh - nothing like screaming victimhood for a little sympathy.

With the blood of victimhood coursing through her veins, Utovich expressed her outrage & disappoint to Paula Paoletti, the acting chief of staff, and is pondering filing a lawsuit...

"Finding out that I no longer had a job during today's press conferences was beyond disappointing since I have strived to support the administration," Utovich wrote in an e-mail to the top brass at the attorney general's office on May 2.

She called the decision "unacceptable" and demanded an explanation for why she was not allowed to rescind the resignation and why she was not told before the news conferences that she was out of a job.

"I am appalled by the treatment shown to me, as over the past five months, I have been nothing but loyal and a hard worker," Utovich wrote. "I'm not proud of my actions in my personal life but do not deserve to be retaliated for them by the office."
Loyal, hard working & actions in her personal life?

Sweetie - your loyalty contributed to a sad impersonation of "Animal House," your hard work was covering for Dann & his dip shits, and boning the boss in a state paid apartment is not considered actions of your personal life.

Thoughts like this are reinforced when you have hack reporters like leather faced Connie Schultz of the PD hopping on her Femi-Nazi horse. While I believe Dann is an ass for cheating on his wife and should have known better than to sleep with an unstable employee - but he cannot be faulted for Utovich's mental instability.

The Femi-Nazi Schultz automatically assumes and calls the relationship "a mistake of exploitation for romance." Of course she would never think of it as - a young unstable girl infatuated with & turned on from the power of her new boss. The attention of such a powerful man - is very inviting to some women.

Leather face notes some of the email exchanges between Utovich and Dann. My opinion is that Dann realized he could knock an easy one off with this girl - so he did. Like I stated earlier - she was nothing more than a "squeeze of convenience."

Here comes the fatal attraction, that as a married man, he did not expect....
"Please do not EVER tell me to stop acting emotional," Utovich wrote to Dann in September 2007. "I try to do my job to the best that I can and you [expletive] on it. I try my hardest to make sure you are taken care of, do what you need to and prioritize only to have you complain and change everything without telling anybody. Your emotional crap is what makes everyone else miserable."

In another e-mail, she asked him, "Can you go to the bathroom or something and call me?" Two days later, she wrote, "My face hurts and burns from crying and I can't keep fighting."
So did Marc Dann force her to be a willing partner - I would say NO! Did he take advantage of a situation? He is an attorney, a politician and a democrat - a perfect DNA match for a sleazy, opportunistic rat - you tell me.

When Utovich turned in her so-called exit paper work she included a remark she did not want made public, which of course they did...

"You work at the Attorney General's Office until its no longer convenient for them to let you work there. I had rescinded my resignation."

Both walked away learning a good lesson...

Utovich - the only reason employers have employees is because they are needed. When your employment is no longer "convenient" for them - neither are you. This is not just at the AG office, this is life.

Dann - never let a female employee sign her checks using your pen!

Hambo on Dann

I asked Hambo from Politically Incorrect Gazette what he thought about the Dann sexcapades. I guess I was remiss in my reading and missed his earlier scribbling about Dann...

I haven't updated the story on PIG.

The last thing I read was some mind-numbed insanity about the Buckeye State Demoncrats voting not to endorse him. Everyone seemed to think non-endorsement is a big deal. I don't get that. He's already got the job and seems to think this will blow over if he just hunkers down and rides it out. Given the chad-punchers' short attention span, he might be right, on that count. If all else fails, he can steal a page from the Elephant Clan's playbook and run for re-election in a couple years under the slogan: I know that I really, really suck, but my opponent sucks more.

Bold new concept.

FYI - Here's what we posted about Marc Dann, last Friday:

When King’s Buckeye State homeboys swept the Elephant Clan out of power in Columbus in the 2006 elections, one of the beneficiaries of this chad punching, political tsunami was a clown named Marc Dann, the man elevated to Attorney General. How did Marc celebrate his newly elevated status? He got horizontal and squishy with his 28-year-old scheduler, Jessica Utovich.

Taking their cue from Attorney General Dann, some of Marc’s friends, who were on his payroll, took Marc’s antics as a green light, so they declared open season on the women in the Attorney General’s office. Unlike Marc's moves on his squeeze, Jessica, Marc’s pals and their hot-handed antics, were not welcomed, and charges of rampant sexual harassment started to fly.

When the bovine excrement hit the proverbial cooling device with a resounding ‘splat’, the heads started to roll. Two of Attorney General Dann’s pals - Anthony Gutierrez, director of general services, and Leo Jennings III, director of communications - were fired outright. The third member of Marc Dann’s horndog posse, his chief of staff Edgar Simpson, resigned. At the same time, the hottie who shared Marc’s bed, Jessica Utovich also resigned.

The last man standing, Attorney General Marc Dann, is the bull’s-eye in a political firestorm that shows no sign of abating. So far, Marc Dann’s response to calls for his resignation by editors, members of his own Demoncrat party and his foes in the Elephant Clan is ‘hell no, I won’t go’. As fun as that sounds, it gets better.

Unlike every rational adult in Ohio, Attorney General Dann seems convinced that he didn’t do anything that meets the criteria of an impeachable offense. Since he’s the top legal eagle for the state, his assessment can’t be trumped very easily. The state could, of course, call for the appointment of an independent investigator, but that, too requires the cooperation of Ohio’s Attorney General, Marc Dann. Holy Catch-22 on steroids, Batman!

God Dann it! Guess who might become a Republican?

This is just great!

I bet his friend RINO Snakenberg and his merry band of RPCC "Social Club" misfits will be waiting with open arms and check books...

H/T to NaugBlog, WoMD, & DaytonOS.

From DaytonOS --
The resolution passed by the Executive Committee stated:
Dann is “no longer recognized as an endorsed Democratic Statewide officeholder” Dann will “no longer be considered an ex-officio member of the Ohio Democratic Party Executive Committee and thus no longer entitled to the full rights and privileges of such membership” Dann is "removed as an ex-officio delegate to the 2008 Democratic Party State Convention”
The resolution concluded by calling for Dann’s immediate resignation as Attorney General of the State of Ohio...

After running to Slick Willie's rescue after his escapade with a baby walrus, the Ohio Dummycrats have thrown in the towel on Marc Dann - our a**-grabbing AG for doing the same thing. Talk about double size - double standards!

Sort of ironic that Marc "No longer a Democrat" Dann would make fun of Jesus being crucified on Good Friday - a Holy Day for Christians, and he being Jewish - gets crucified by his own, the Democrats, on Saturday - a Holy Day for the Jewish faith.

Daffy Dann Affair - Take Action

"[T]here is nobody who has raised a single concern about the delivery of services from this office." -Marc Dann

Ohioans, if you will not stand up for yourselves and your state then no one will. Let's get to work...

From the Ohio AG Website:
Contact - Marc Dann
Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann

The Daffy Dann Affair

Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann Friday morning admitted to a "romantic relationship" with a member of his staff, apologizing to his wife and staff "for
my human failings."
http://blog.cleveland.com/plaindealer/2008/05/danns_aides_fault_his_judgment.html
To steal a line from our lefty friends- "Hey hey, ho ho, Dann must go." Little' Elliot Spitzer Jr., according to The PeeDee, admitted to an affair with a staffer and "Mr. Ethics" is refusing to resign.
He said he would appoint a Cleveland lobbyist to identify management problems. "I envision this as a second transition," Dann said a news conference at his office in Columbus.
Fix what problems? Do you mean all the one's you and your staffers have created? A "second transition," sweet goodness, can we spiral even more downward? A lobbyist will be hired to clean up the office? The only people I can think of more crooked than lawyers are lobbyists! A Cleveland one at that. Who in the heck can make a living as a lobbyist in Cleveland? What are you lobbying- the homeless to move from one side of E. 9th to the other?
Asked why he won't resign, Dann replied: "Because I was elected by the people of Ohio. We're doing great legal work in this office ... there is nobody who has raised a single concern about the delivery of services from this office."

Frosty the Melting RPCC Chairman

Republican Party of Cuyahoga County (RPCC) Chairman Rob Frost has emailed a letter to RPCC members giving his version of the PD article regarding the recent exodus of 5 GOP Mayors and a Juvenile Judge from the RPCC to the Cuyahoga County Democrat Party.

In trying to further his charade as an effective RPCC Chairman, Frost tries “spinning” the events too make the RPCC look good while portraying him as an effective and strong leader. Spin is to be expected from a party chairman, but being deceitful, misrepresenting the truth and conveniently leaving out information - will no longer be tolerated. If our party is ever going to rise above the basement dwelling results we so readily accept, this behavior cannot and will not be tolerated.

In the response Frost takes pride that none of these Mayors had the RPCC endorsement in the last election cycle. Frost tries to explain away the Mayors leaving the RPCC as inconsequential.
Truth is Mayor Lansky refused the RPCC endorsement during his last election. In Patton’s last election, 2 yrs ago, he did receive a contested party endorsement over a good long time loyal party member. Frost supported Patton’s endorsement over this long time member. *** Note also how Frost points out Patton supported a Democrat over State Representative Josh Mandel two years ago also. ***

Frost takes pride in stating 84% of our RPCC endorsed candidates won office in 2007. By not giving supporting documentation, this is nothing more than creative math from a desperate chairman. I would be more than happy to see the phantom formula and which races he used to create this percentage. I will guarantee it is not reflective of, and does not include, races in which we did not have a candidate and does include races where our endorsed candidate had no opposition.

Looking at this years upcoming county judicial races - if every one of our candidates is elected the best we can achieve is a 30% success rate. Why? Because we only have candidates running for 5 of the 17 judicial races. So before the first ballot is cast in November - we are already 0-12.

Performance output such as this and purposely skewing the numbers in attempts to mislead Central Committee & Executive Committee members should not be rewarded, but a reference for reprimand.

Noting there are 41 Democrat Mayors and only 16 Republicans Mayors in Cuyahoga County, Democrat Party Chairman Jimmy Dimora is quoted in the PD article describing Frost as… “ineffective and probably the worst chairman the RPCC ever had.”

Unable to cite any of his accomplishments in his four years of floundering as RPCC Chairman, Frosty is relegated to citing problems in the State & National Democrat Party, the democrat presidential candidates and the less than stellar performance of Kucinich in the 10th District Primary.

But it gets much worse....

Frost has allowed and has REFUSED to address these same issues in his own party. His superstar candidate for Commissioner, Mayor Sutherland, against the wishes of the RPCC rank & file members publicly supported the forced sales tax increase of the Democrat County Commissioners for the ill-fated Med Mart project. In fact most of the Republican Mayors in Cuyahoga County endorsed the Med Mart sales tax increase - against the wishes of most RPCC members.

Candidate for County Recorder and North Royalton Mayor at the time, Cathy Luks, publicly supported a democrat over an endorsed RPCC candidate in the past election for Parma Municipal Court. This was known to Frost - but he did nothing!

A letter was sent on February 6, 2008 asking Frost, as our Chairman, to support motions of censure on several people in our party for donating to Democrats in violation of the RPCC by laws. While taking issue with Dimora for this behavior in his party, the letter sits unanswered.

In fairness to the people about to be named, I attempted to privately discuss this with Frost several times but was rebuked.

So I ask - Chairman Frost, if Zannoti supporting Sutherland means the Democrat Party is in disarray, how would you describe your derelict reign of the RPCC knowing the following individuals are supporting Democrats?

  • Richard Pogue (Executive Committee, Finance Committee - Chairman) for donating $2000 to democrat candidate Joe Cimperman and $4600 to Barbra Ferris. Plus a handful of Democrat judges over the years.

  • Bill Summers (Executive Committee, Finance Committee - Vice Chair) Donated $2000 to Cimperman.

  • Domenic Visconsi (Executive Committee) for donating $2000 to democrat candidate Joe Cimperman.

  • Dave Gunning (Executive Committee, Central Committee, Rules Committee -Chairman, Governance Committee - Vice Chair, State Central Committee District 21, RPCC Central Committee) for donating $2300 to democrat candidate Joe Cimperman.

  • Mal Mixon (Executive Committee / Candidate Central Committee) Routinely gives money to HARRY RIED & CHARLIE WRANGEL!

  • Roger Synenberg - (Executive Committee, Legal Counsel for Central Committee, Former Executive Director of BOE, Former RPCC Chairman) - Has given MANY donation to Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Dennis Kucinich, Ken Yuko, along with Marc Dann & Jennifer Brunner during their last election Has also given to many democrat judges.

  • Judge Joan Synenberg - (Cuyahoga County Judge) - given to Dennis & Stephanie Tubbs. Claim this money was for their support in judge race.

  • Dave Harbarger (Vice Chair Executive Committee, Central Committee, Former Lakewood Mayor, Parliamentarian for RPCC Meetings) Gave $500 to Sherrod Brown during his last election.

  • Cathy Luks (Former North Royalton Mayor, Executive & Central Committee, and Candidate for County Recorder) Publicly endorsed democrat candidate for judge in Parma this last election over an endorsed RPCC candidate.

These donations can be verified at - Open Secrets & The Federal Election Commission.

Mr. Chairman - the floor is yours...

Teacher Jailed over Teddy Bear

A British school teacher, Gillian Gibbons, has been teaching school children in Sudan. Gibbons allowed her students to name a Teddy Bear. The students chose the name Mohammad for the teddy bear, as this is a common name in the Arab/Muslim world.

Marc Dann makes fun of Jesus on Good Friday and refuses to apologize - he gets protected by Rev. Strickland and the lefty blogger's for his offensive and insensitive remark against Christianity.

Little did Gibbons realize the jihadikaze Muslim's running Sudan would react with the same religious insensitivity & tolerance as Marc "Flamer" Dann.

For allowing the students to name the teddy bear Mohammad, Gillian was arrested for inciting religious hatred and insulting Islam.

From Al-Jazeera --

Gibbons faces up to six months in jail, 40 lashes and a fine if she is found guilty of "insulting or degrading any religion, its rites, beliefs and sacred items or humiliating its believers", as stipulated in Sudan's penal code.

"What has happened was not haphazard or carried out of ignorance, but rather a calculated action and another ring in the circles of plotting against Islam," the Sudanese Assembly of the Ulemas said in a statement. More....

Please ask yourself the following question -

Is what this teacher did, any worse than Marc "Check out the Flames" Dann & his Good Friday remarks?

Can Thanksgiving Be Considered Illegal?

I am a little bit worried.... Thanksgiving is coming up, turkey, stuffing, fresh homemade bread, mashed taters & gravy, drunken sweet taters (made by my drunken Aunt Marie), ham, lasagna, etc... (Lasagna for Thanksgiving? I'm Italian, we eat lasagna for every holiday).

What worries me is that korrectniks will start attacking Thanksgiving like they do Christmas. One town is already trying to call Thanksgiving a "Day of Mourning," instead of the intended purpose of the holiday - originally a show of thanks to the Indian's for not killing the settler's, to show the Indian's thanks for teaching us how to grow crops, and as a show thanks to God.

A column in WND by Jonathan Falwell goes through the politically inkorrect history of Thanksgiving....
In the Congressional Record for Sept. 25, 1789, Elias Boudinot issued a resolution stating: "Resolved, That a joint committee of both Houses be directed to wait upon the president of the United States to request that he would recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer. …"

The resolution was delivered to President George Washington who wholly concurred with the request, declaring: "Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor … Now, therefore, I do appoint Thursday, the 26th day of November 1789 . . . that we may all unite to render unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection."

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared a National Day of Thanksgiving in hopes of bringing healing to a land that had suffered greatly in Civil War.

He set aside the last Thursday in November, declaring: "We often forget the Source from which the blessings of fruitful years and healthful skies come. … No human wisdom hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God. … I therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States … to observe the last Thursday of November as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens."

Falwell is on point with how the history and origins of Thanksgiving can be perceived by korrectnik's as politically incorrect. If made today, the above remarks by Washington and Lincoln would have the korrectniks screaming for their faces to be removed from Mt. Rushmore!

There is no doubt, Thanksgiving and its' intended purpose, could be counter to the liberally redefined version of "separation of church and state."

It would be very easy for a Christian Hating Korrectnik, such as Ohio AG Marc "Use Goldstien Nails" Dann, to say "Thanksgiving could be considered illegal" - as it could be construed as a "Religious Event" sponsored by the government.

ORP Statement on Attorney General Marc Dann Offending Millions of Christians

(Columbus) – Ohio Republican Party Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine issued the following statement regarding email comments made by Attorney General Marc Dann which were recently published in the Dayton Daily News:

"Marc Dann has managed to offend millions of Ohioans with a single comment. His remark comparing a bad press day to the crucifixion of Christ is outrageous and inapproprate from anyone, much less an elected official. Dann has demonstrated some profound religious insensitivity, and he owes a public apology to the people of this state who understand that Good Friday is not a joke.

"If comedians and talk show hosts can be fired and publicly scorned for a single racist remark, Marc Dann should be held no less accountable.

"I expect Ted Strickland will join me in demanding an apology from Marc Dann. Certainly the governor and ordained minister would not tolerate these comments from a statewide office holder."

Dann's Hate Speech

The conservative blogger that all liberals and some conservatives love to hate.... Matt has a great post about Dipshit Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann's partisan hiring practices and his disgustingly offensive and hateful murmur's about Christianity.

From Right Angle Blog -- (emphasis added)
• Dann, who is Jewish, e-mailed Jennings on April 6 about an editorial that ran in his hometown paper, The (Youngstown) Vindicator: “Bentley said there are six nasty posts after the Vindy editorial. All about you,” he wrote. “Jesus had it better on good friday.”
So Dann feels a few nasty posts are worse than Jesus being crucified! Could you imagine the uproar had a remark like this been made about the Holocaust?

I am curious as to what the reaction from the left and liberal korrectnik's will be? How many other people have been forced to resign for making religiously offensive remarks like this? Will Dann be forced to do the same thing or will we see a double standard?

Not only does Dann owe a public apology, but as Ohio's "Top Law Dog" charged with protecting our rights AGAINST "Hate Speech" like this, Dann is no longer fit to serve in office!

Judge orders State Funded sex change operation on prisoner

I have always been under the belief that when you are removed from society and sent to prison, you lose all, but your most basic rights.

Can someone please point out where I can find "state funded sex change operations" as being one of our civil rights?

Activist judges never cease to amaze me!

From WND --
According to Associated Press reports, the inmate, Randall Gammett, demanded a name change to Jenniffer Spencer while in prison, as well as various treatments.

The inmate, in jail for possession of a stolen car and escape, believes "she is a woman trapped in a man's body," according to the report, and "castrated herself using a disposable razor blade" in a prison cell when state prison physicians declined to prescribe estrogen.

The inmate then filed a lawsuit against the Idaho Department of Correction, alleging a violation of constitutional rights for that refusal.

Now Judge Mikel Williams, of U.S. District Court, ordered the state to provide the inmate with psychotherapy and estrogen pending a trial. More....

Casterated herself? That simple statement should tell us there is something wrong in Idaho!

Of course it would be asking to much for the judge to have a pea brain and tell the prisoner, "You do not have a life sentence, the voters of Idaho will not be forced to pay for your elective procedures leading to a sex change operation."

To be considerate, he could have urged the prisoner to read Cosmo, Better Housekeeping, do his nails, etc.... To offer encouragement he could have stated.... " when you are released, go to Ohio. I am sure the Governor, Rev. Strickland, or his corrupt Attorney General, Marc Dann, will give you a job."

If the prisoner had a life threatening medical condition, that would be one thing, but this is elective surgery. I could even see if the prisoner was seeing a quack or receiving estrogen prior to his arresst, that his treatment be continued. But this does not appear to be the case.

As for the injuries of the self inflicted castration.... the prisoner should be told he /she will be expected to remit the medical costs associated with this upon his release. Any further self inflicted injuries, will cause his prison term to be lengthened.

And of course the residents of Idaho will have to pay to have the cell remodeled. I'm sure having a cell not adorned in womenly decor violates some other right.

I bet this guy (thing) will get violated a lot in prison. But for some reason I don't believe it will be his civil rights being violated!

Rev. Strickland caters to his flock

Rev. Strickland will try to use state money to buy approximately 7,000 votes for the democrats by further stuffing union coffers.

Rev. Strickland, doing a fine imitation of AG. Marc Dann, signed an executive order that will allow independent home health care workers to unionize. The disurbing thing of this is the Rev. thinks it will be good to allow independent contractors, used by the state, to unionize.

Who is it good for?

Is it good for Rev. Ted?

Hell yes! Catering to his flock, the Reverend just bought a whole bunch more votes for his party.

Is it good for the unions, which no longer stand for the workers and have become a subsidized mouthpiece for the democrat party?

Absolutely! Rev. Strickland's executive order can potentially lead to stuffing the unions pockets with union dues that will be paid by these, state paid independent contractors.

Surely one cannot think this is good for the patients or their families!

From the Akron Beacon Journal --

State Rep. Bill Seitz, a Cincinnati Republican, noted the revealing sequence of events, lawmakers routing additional money to home care in the new state budget, the governor shortly thereafter opening the way for organized labor to tap into those funds.

If nothing else, the governor's action merited a broader discussion than the sweep of his signature. As things stand, it is hard to forget that the Service Employees International Union donated $134,800 to the governor and $1.6 million to the Ohio Democratic Party last year. Did someone say pay-to-play?

Dann swears at reporter after story about daughter

I guess reporters are only allowed to write about a politicians daughter if they are a lesbian, as in Cheney's daughter.

Klassy guy this Dann is.....

From Dayton Daily News --
COLUMBUS — When Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann stepped out of his black Chevrolet Suburban for a Barack Obama fundraiser in Boardman, he spotted a local reporter who had just published a story Dann didn't like.

"Hey Steve, write this down: Go (expletive) yourself!" he hollered on the street of an upper middle class neighborhood Wednesday morning.

The day before the Warren Tribune Chronicle ran a story of how a woman Dann helped raise, Mavilya Chubarova, 22, landed a $37,000-a-year job with Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. Brunner and Dann are both Democrats, and Chubarova worked on Dann's campaign. Dann acted as Chubarova's guardian and calls her his daughter.

The reporter should have replied, "You and Rev. Ted already are!"

Looks like in Ohio, if you get elected that means all your friends and relatives get a job.

State Mandated Sick Days - Make me Sick!

First I want to state - I am a very pro-union conservative and have always been considered a 'friend of labor'. In the past, as a conservative candidate, I have also had the endorsements of local and statewide unions.

Here in Bedford, our unionized city workers know who to call if they have a problem with management in our city. I have been at many council meetings and council workshops, as a resident, speaking out on behalf of our city workers. This has ranged from job loss through attrition or trying to implement new rules, not consistent with the union contract.

My father, being a policemen, was in the union for over 25 years. I can also say that at a young age, I was intimately exposed to politics and unions by a man who was a union organizer for the Steel Workers and was one of the three founding members of S/E Area COPE. For those that are unaware, S/E Area Cope was the scanning committee on political endorsements for the AFL/CIO in Cuyahoga County.

That being said - the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is trying to stir up support to make a law which will FORCE ALL EMPLOYERS, with 25 employees or more, to give 7 days for paid sick time.

From Ohio News Now -

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- One of the state's major unions is pursuing a proposal that would require companies to grant sick days, an issue that could wind up on the November 2008 ballot and help drive voter turnout for the Democratic nominee for president.

The measure, being pushed by Service Employees International Union District 1199, would require Ohio companies with at least 25 employees to grant at least seven sick days a year.

The union, which represents 28,000 health care and social service workers in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, submitted a petition with 1,800 signatures to Attorney General Marc Dann earlier this month....

--- I believe getting paid sick days is a benefit, not a right. I believe many companies base their sick day policy on if an employee is full time or part time and length of employment.

The negative residual effect this short sighted effort would have on business, employment and costs passed on to the consumer would be far reaching......

The article continues with.....

"Workers should not have to choose between a paycheck and recovery when they get sick," the union said in a statement. The SEIU said 48 percent of workers for private employers and 79 percent of what it called low-wage workers have no sick days.

The proposal is unnecessary because companies may already offer more money or vacation days instead of seven sick days, said Ty Pine, legislative director for the National Federation of Independent Business of Ohio.

"When you do these types of one-size-fits-all mindless petitions that sound good to the voters, you remove all that flexibility not just for employers but for employees who are looking for different options in the workplace," Pine said. More....

State mandated sick days strikes to close to the heart of Free Enterprise for me.

This sounds more like a step towards Totalitarianism and/or Communism!

Iranian Divestment

Fellow S.O.B. blog site, Brain Shavings, posted the following on a bill introduced by State Rep. Shannon Jones and the CCRP's own State Rep Josh Mandel.

Looks like Josh is already able to open the eyes of some democrats and has support from the other side on this one.

Yesterday, State Representatives Josh Mandel and Shannon Jones finally introduced a bill that would require Ohio's state pension fund managers to cut all financial ties with any company that does business with (or in) Iran. It's a good start. Here are the high points:

1). Ohio state pension fund managers are forbidden to invest in any "forbidden entity":

  • any publicly-traded company with active business ties or operations in or with Iran;

  • any publicly-traded company that has active business ties or operations with any company domiciled in Iran;

  • any non-publicly-traded foreign company that doesn't annually provide an accurate affidavit that it doesn't own or control any property or assets located in Iran, nor does it have business ties or operations in or with Iran.

  • any mutual fund, separate account, index, index managed product, or compilation of stocks identified that can't prove it excludes all forbidden entities.

2.) All funds currently invested in forbidden entities must be at least 60% divested within six months, and 100% divested within a year;

3.) If this divestment causes a state pension fund to suffer a loss, the fund manager gets immunity from pensioners' lawsuits alleging a breach of fiduciary duty;

4.) When private asset managers are under contract to invest Ohio state pension funds, those managers must certify that they won't invest in a forbidden entity, and will divest any funds already so invested. Otherwise they suffer penalties:

  • they get their contract yanked;

  • for one year, they're forbidden from doing any business with the treasurer of state, the state board of deposit, the workers' compensation oversight commission, the administrator of workers' compensation, and the board of each of the state retirement systems (ouch!)

The Ohio Attorney General must enforce the bill, and can bring an action in court to do so (count on Lincoln Logs to keep an eye on Marc Dann for us).

Dann should fire Cuy. Co. Public Affairs Coordinator

Keeping his eye on conservative blogs, Mark Naymik from the PD picked up on this story of typical Cuyahoga County Democrap party hypocrisy from Right Angle Blog.

Attorney General Dann's Regional Public Affairs Coordinator in Cuyahoga County, Marquez Brown, who also obviously not heeding Dann's pledge to keep politics out of the AG office, sent an email to solicit support for Dann in the Cleveland St. Patrick Day Parade on state time from the Cleveland AG office.

From PD Openers:
Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann, who nearly beat voters to death last fall with his pledge to keep politics out of the AG's office, might have to remind his staff of his crusade.

Marquez Brown, Dann's regional public affairs coordinator in Cleveland, this week used the office to drum up Democrats interested in walking with Dann in the St. Patrick's Day parade on Saturday.

"If you would like to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade with Attorney General Marc Dann, please let me know," he wrote in an email to the Cuyahoga County Young Democrats, first revealed on
rightangleblog.com. "It'll be good times. The parade is at 1:00 PM, more details to follow. If you're interested please contact Marquez Brown by responding to this email or contacting me at one of the numbers below."

Brown, a former field coordinator for the Ohio Democratic Party, listed his address and direct-dial phone number in the AG's office.

Ohio law generally frowns upon using taxpayer time and resources for political work.
"It should not have been sent, and he should not have given out the number," said Leo Jennings, a spokesman for Dann's office. "It's not the death penalty -- but he will be reprimanded."

You would think with the democrats in OH who were screaming about corruption and them bad republicans during the election would be very upset with this. Were they? Guess - Nope!

The reaction? When questioned by Naymik, the AG office responded -
"It's not the death penalty -- but he will be reprimanded."

Reprimanded? The man should be fired!

The response, "It's not the death penalty", indicates to me, they feel they can minimize this by trying to down play the email as a mistake or an oversight.

A friend of mine, who is an elected area democrat, is sick of the hypocrisy, corruption & failures of the Cuyahoga Democrats and area leadership, informed me the only reason the guy will get reprimanded is because he got caught. Otherwise, this is "Standard Operating Procedure" for the Cuyahoga County democrats.

Cuyahoga County Democrats may dispute this above assertion made by one of their own, even though former staffers confirm this behavior is encouraged on the local level.

What court case? Forget it, have a beer!

Attorney general's office misses deadline for case
Saturday, January 20, 2007 Plain Dealer

Columbus- Ohio may be excluded from a lawsuit defending the right for Medicaid recipients to choose their own doctors because the incoming attorney general's legal team missed an inauguration day deadline in the case.

Winters said that on Jan. 8, the day Attorney General Marc Dann was attending inaugural festivities in Warren and Youngstown, a young lawyer in the office tried but failed to get the state's filing to the high court by the 5 p.m. deadline. More...

Could not get to the court by 5:00pm. This is a lame excuse. Great start there Mr. Dann!

Glad to see you were more worried about partying at the inaugural events then protecting our interests. This proves the dems are just so happy they finally won, they don't know what to do.

I see our new Attorney General is really on top of things.
