Sutherland Calls on Hagan for Real Reform in Government

Bay Village Mayor and Cuyahoga County Commissioner Candidate Debbie Sutherland Applauds Proposal to Reform County Government; wants to enact changes immediately Cleveland - Bay Village Mayor Debbie Sutherland, a candidate for Cuyahoga County Commission, is a long-time advocate of county reform and said today she applauds Cuyahoga County Commissioner Tim Hagan for joining her in support of stream-lining county government.

"Commissioner Hagan has been around county government long enough to know that all the various fiefdoms and patronage jobs are costing the taxpayers in dollars and services. I'm glad that he's seen enough of the waste in Cuyahoga County government that he can no longer support taking taxpayer's hard earned money and applying it to the outdated bureaucracy our county government has become", Sutherland said.

"I support changing how our county government runs and I pledge to work with Commissioner Hagan towards that endeavor. I see no reason for waiting. There are endless examples of past calls for reform made by our county's elected leaders, without any follow through. I will join Commissioner Hagan in calling on the General Assembly to modify the Ohio Revised Code - before it adjourns for the summer - so that we can begin changing the structure right now", Sutherland continued.

"The State Legislature has held a number of hearings on House Bill 521, legislation which deals directly with local government. I have testified on this important legislation, as have a number of other officials and interests. To date, our county officials have been missing in action and failed to provide input on this important legislation. But it's not too late. By asking for the necessary changes to the Ohio Revised Code, the County Commissioners can get behind real county reform", Sutherland concluded.

  2. I think it is great Sutherland wants to join a reform movement led by Hagan.

Why would two Democrats have Republican ideas?

  3. I smell something being cooked by the greater cleveland thieveship...i mean partnership.

I guess the "partnership" will have an easier time buying off officals if there is less of them. Who are these guys partners with in greater cleveland besides themselves?

  4. They are partners with the Finance and Executive Committees of the RPCC.

  5. Why would this ignorant bitch even imagine she is going to win election and be able to work with anyone? I think that unless her good friend Timmy is willing to give her money and foot soldiers she ain't gonna make it. The RPCC grassroots sure don't like her and I don't see any one jumping up to fight. GOOD LUCK PRINCESS.

  9. Maple Hts Mom - Hagan is a democrat, Sutherland is a Republican.

For Anon with the trash mouth - you are free to comment anonymouly but no profanity!

Personally I think YOU are a Klassless Chicken Sh*t for calling the Mayor Sutherland a name like that and NOT give your real name!

For the rest - Sutherland is the RPCC endorsed candidate. She went through the process and was given the endorsement - deal with it.

If you do not want to help her that is fine - but you do not need to try and publicly harm her during an election. This makes you no better than the people we are trying to rid our party of!

I have made my views,in no uncertain terms, very clear on here and at RPCC meetings.

Trust me, I will make my views known on this garbage they call reform & regionalism. It is much deeper and has been evolving much longer than most know or care to admit. I will make these views in known in a post that will not harm our candidate, purposely or specifically.

I can be accused of being many things - but I believe in always being fair and trying to do the right thing. A concept not widely accepted in this area.

I believe fair and doing the right thing means using KRS for spreading the candidates messages and platform so the voters can decide.

I may not agree with all of her views - but all conservatives do not agree with McCain either.

So feel free to comment but please no profanity. As everyone has redeeming qualities, I am sure Mayor Sutherland does. If you want to take her to task - keep it to the issues.

Well versed in politics - I am confident she can give an answer to your questions if you contact her website.

I am not part of the Sutherland campaign and was not asked to repost her press release. I simply chose to do it and allow our candidate another avenue of expressing their platform.

  10. WOW - I am not sure about the parade thing.

If true, that would not look good. I find it hard to be true though... I am certain the party would make sure she had a good group of people to walk with her.
