Trent Lott's announcement that he will retire from the U.S. Senate has prompted speculation of other politicians who could follow. Says MSNBC:
"Other Senate GOP veterans are also facing possible retirement decisions in 2010: Sens. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, Charles Grassley of Iowa, George Voinovich of Ohio, Christopher Bond of Missouri, and John McCain of Arizona. All of them except Bond are over age 70; Bond is 68."
But, says Voinovich's office: Ohio's senior senator is not retiring.
Damn! Damn!! G** F'n Damn it!!!
You mean he won't voluntarily retire. We lowly proletarians in the great unwashed masses still have some oomph when Election Day rolls around in 2010.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, but Little George the Curious RINO will force a primary by not standing down.
ReplyDeleteI would rather focus our "oomph" in other areas, as this should be a free seat to his successor.
A GOP wipeout in 2008 looks like the only thing that would change his mind at this point. And that is not worth it.
