Off-duty FBI agent shot in Lakewood stickup

Lakewood -- An off-duty FBI agent was shot in chest this morning by an armed robber.

The 50-year-old senior agent was discharged from Lakewood Hospital this evening. The FBI won't release his name. He lives in Rocky River.

The agency is offering a $10,000 reward for information.

Scott Wilson, Cleveland FBI spokesman, gave this account of the incident: At about 3 a.m., the agent was driving a friend home. They had just stopped in the 2000 block of Wyandotte Avenue, not far from Madison Avenue.

Two men approached the car. One flung open the passenger'-side door, thrust a gun into the car and demanded money. The agent stomped on the gas pedal, but didn't get away before the man fired.
