The "Not So Extreme" Extremists

We have all heard about Al-Qaeda, Al-Qaeda in Iraq, The 1920 Revolution Brigade and the Mahdi Army, when it comes to the leading terrorist groups namely in Iraq.

It seems there has been another group lurking in the shadows and receiving much less attention - The Islamic Front for Iraqi Resistance (JAMI). It is alleged that this Islamic group (JAMI), founded in 2004, is a splinter group from the "Society of the Muslim Brothers" or "The Brotherhood" - which is where Osama Bin Laden got his start.

JAMI considers themselves the protectors of Iraq and Iraqi citizens. The groups sworn enemy is - guess who? How did you guess? Yep, the United States and our troops. JAMI claims they help Iraqi citizens and keep unsecured towns free of terror from outside extremists groups.

Ooops, I almost forgot - they also say in this 2004 press release & video - they protect Iraqi's from U.S. and any foreign troops or as they like to call us, invaders. JAMI is not to be confused with, nor associated with, the Shiite & Sunni "Awakening Councils" I have posted on.

Responsible for many attacks on US troops, this Sunni-based group feels they are not as extreme as the real mean terror groups listed above. I bet the victims from one of their IED's would dispute that claim!

The terrorist loving propaganda outlet, Al-Jazeera, has recently written a couple articles promoting the work of these sharia loving jihadakazes. Al-Jazeera describes this group as - Deeply nationalistic with a slight Islamic leaning, it appeals more to Iraqis than extreme groups involved in global jihad such as al-Qaeda.

I guess being a nice terrorist means you arm yourself to the gills so you can wage guerilla warfare against the people protecting your country!?! Likening the obtaining of weapons in Iraq to a "kid in a candy store," these extremists are stockpiling new weapons, modifying their outdated weapons and laying low for another day - even if it takes forever.....

"We have experts who are in charge of researching and developing new methods continuously," one of the men says. "We need to find new ways all the time, in case we run out of chemicals."

"One shot, one soldier killed is the rule," says the instructor, a former army officer. The fighters have every intention of continuing their operations and in an ever more sophisticated manner.

"Our researchers are developing remote-controlled explosive devices," one man says. "Soon we will be able to wage a battle with as little as two fighters - we will minimise our losses." More....
