Russia sells Iran more Missiles

In his own little KGB type way, Russian President Vladmir Putin is constantly stirring the pot trying to undermine U.S. efforts abroad. Putin is already playing games with the U.S. proposed sanctions against Iran because of their desire to obtain nuclear weapons. Now he is giving the pariah state more weapons to threaten their neighbors with.

With the U.S. already upset with Russia for selling Iran the 29 TOR-M1 air defense missile systems earlier this year, in typical Russian fashion, Putin ignores the concerns that these weapons may be used against our troops in Iraq.

Russia will make good on their 2004 agreement to sell their S-300 surface-to-air to Iran. Already arming Syria with these mobile weapons, Russia is greatly increasing the military capabilities of Iran with the transfer of what is considered one of the top SAM's on the market....

The S-300 (NATO codename: SA-10 Grumble) family of surface-to-air missiles (SAM) developed by Russian Almaz Central Design Bureau is regarded as one of the most effective all-altitude regional air defence system in the world.

From Arab News --

Iran announced yesterday it is to receive S-300 air missile defense systems from Russia, a move that risks angering the United States, which has been critical of past arms sales to Tehran.

“The S-300 system will be delivered to Iran within the framework of a contract agreed in the past,” Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar was quoted as saying by state radio....

“In line with the contract signed several years ago, Russia will deliver to Iran several dozen 3RS S-300PMU1 anti-aircraft systems,” the source said. Interfax said the deliveries would begin next year. Russia, a veto-wielding permanent UN Security Council member, has important economic interests in Tehran. More....

And Russia is upset we want to place our missile defense technology in European & Middle East countries - Go Figure!
