A Racist "White Cleveland"

The following little piece from The PD "Tip Off" has to be one of the most outrageous examples of political korrectness I have ever heard! When confronted with accusations of racism - the panty waisted pansies at John Carroll scrapped the theme for their winter formal....

The Student Union Programming Board at John Carroll University thought it had a cool twist on a classic song when it picked "I'm Dreaming of a White Cleveland" as the theme for its Winter Formal dance.

Clearly, it was a takeoff on the Bing Crosby classic, "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas." But not everyone took it as it was intended.

Some detected racist overtones.

"It was brought to my attention that some students were offended by the theme," said Lisa Ramsey, director of student activities. "And when we looked at it, we understood why."

Freebie ice scrapers and drinking glasses bearing the theme were boxed and will be destroyed.

"We admit we made a mistake and sincerely apologize for the insensitivity demonstrated through using this theme," the board wrote in campuswide e-mail. "Please know we are committed to learning more about how we can make sure this does not happen again."

Clearly there was no intent of racism by naming the theme "I'm dreaming of a White Cleveland." It sounds as it was nothing more than a good natured, innocent play on words. I will ask - Doesn't everyone hope for snow on Christmas?

But instead of bombarding these Rev. Al Sharpton wanna be's with snow balls, the JCU Student Union not only backs down - but apologizes for being insensitive! If a "White Cleveland" can be deemed racist, why wouldn't "White Christmas" also be considered racist.

I have used many creative and colorful words when describing my sometime feeling's about snow, but never in my wildest imagination have I ever thought some idiot korrectnik would come up with - Snow is racist because it is white!

OK now for all you inkorrectnik's like me take note:

• Korrectnik Rule #1 - NOT allowed to say "Merry Christmas" as it is offensive to other religions.

• Korrectnik Rule #2 - when describing anything that is the color 'white,' please refrain from using the word 'white' as it is now uniformly considered racist.

I am predicting in the future 'Santa Claus' will be next, so be ready. With his white beard, being white and only coming on Christmas, he is already in violation of both the above Korrectnik rules.

So this year on December 25th if you see mommy kissing somebody under a pine tree in your living room, you better call daddy!
