Traces of Enriched Uranium found on N. Korean Tubes

It looks like we may have evidence that N. Korea was conducting a uranium-based nuke program. The State Dept. & N. Korea have yet to comment on the find.

From the Gulf Times --
US scientists found traces of enriched uranium on smelted aluminium tubing from North Korea, which appears to contradict its denials of a secret uranium-based nuclear programme, the Washington Post reported yesterday.

Washington has said the tubes were evidence that North Korea had a clandestine uranium weapons programme because they could be used as outer casings for centrifuges needed to process uranium gas into weapons fuel.

It was noted in the article that the traces of uranium could have come from other sources or possibly a contaminated sample centrifuge kit provided to N. Korea from Pakistan.

Expected to come clean on all their nuclear programs by Dec. 31, it will be interesting to see how they claim the traces of uranium got there.
