Guess who the new Savior of Kleveland wants to help pay for these visions of lollipops dancing in his head? For those living in Kuyahoga Kounty this question should be a no brainer!
From the PD --
Serious talks about public financing for the project -- a $1.2 billion to $1.5 billion complex of offices, hotels, condos and national retailers -- could come within a few weeks, Paul Komlosi, a development adviser working with Stark, said Thursday.
"We're working diligently to make the number as low as possible," he said.
He could take a plan to the state legislature next year asking to tap added sales tax revenues from future stores - or increased income tax revenue from people working and living in the Warehouse District. That money could help offset much of public improvement costs, Komlosi said. More....
Great - just what we need! More stores to give competition to the ones barely making it now in the downtown area. Stores that most everyday working class people are unable to afford. More office space is surely needed - I guess there are not enough empty ones now.
Someone out there has to be thinking, "Don't worry, the local republican party (RPCC) won't stand for this." Well your wrong, they just showed us their worth & influence with the recent forced sales tax increase for the ill-fated Med Mart. Yep, after eating a can of spinach the RPCC leaders puffed up their chest's and came out against this last sales tax increase - at least for a minute.
Hearing the so-called local konservative kiddies on the right were starting to act up, the Kuyahoga Kounty Kommissioner's sicced their home room mom, Fred "I can dance" Nance, on them. After telling the little konservative kiddies they are making Daddy Jimmy & Mommy Timmy angry & they better support the MedMart, Mr. "Watch Me Two-Step on the MedMart" Nance sent them to their room to play with their "Wii's."
I believe they are still playing with them - so we don't have a chance! So get ready to pony up more money we don't have for something we don't need!
