What Med-Mart?

The newspaper that was used to promote the propaganda shoveled out from the Kuyahoga Kounty Kommissioners about the Med Mart, but is really best suited for the bottom of a bird cage, is now asking - Where is the Med Mart?

From the PD --
If this item were running in the classified ads, it would go something like this:

Lost: Large project intended to make Cleveland a mecca for buyers and sellers of medical products and services. Answers to "Medical Mart." Reward.

If this item were on the police blotter, it would go something like this:

Missing: Cleveland Medical Mart. Last seen on a drawing board in Chicago. No physical description, although believed to be about 250,000 square feet. May be accompanied by convention center and large hotel. Do not attempt to apprehend; that's Fred Nance's job. But this item is an editorial, so it goes like this:

As of today, people who buy things in Cuyahoga County have been paying extra sales tax for two solid months -- money that's supposed to pay for a convention center allied with the Medical Mart.

"What Medical Mart?" you might ask. Well, we're asking, too -- and we plan to explore that question in depth right away.

Superlawyer Fred Nance has been working with Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. on this since July -- apparently in a soundproof, hermetically sealed vault.

What's going on? Is there some kind of snag? Should we be worried? Hello?

  1. What does Deborah (I'm sorry, I guess it's Debbie now) Sutherland have to say about this?

  2. Debbie has to wait to see what Tim Hagan tells her to say (She works so well with him according to her)...

  3. The question should not be what Mayor Sutherland thinks about it.

The question should be what the hell do our Kounty Kommissioners have to say about their once again empty promises!

Maybe they can answer the MedMart question when they get done figuring out how to answer about the investigation into the County run regional sewer district, investigation into the airport, and investigation into the questionable asbestos contract...

While Mayor Sutherland may have been incorrect in supporting this, what about Peter "I used to work at Lawson's" Jones?

He was against it when he knew his vote did not mean anything. Had he truly been against this, he would have shouted much louder. He would have been out there with us getting signatures.

Saying your against it, then doing nothing about it, is the same as supporitng it.

  4. I think Sutherland is wagering that being like the "in crowd" will get her elected. Unless she has built a major political machine in Bay, which can reach the whole of Kuyahoga Kounty, I don't see her getting any grass roots support. Which, by the way, is still needed. 42% of the vote because she is a woman is my guess. Just "being a woman" is not the greatest strategy for electoral victory.

  5. Good points Joe.

What somebody is not remembering is I believe when Jamie Pilla ran against Lawson-Jones I don't think he got 40% of the vote.

Mayor Sutherland will be hard pressed to do the same. She will have her work cut out for her.

He biggest hurdle will be geting support from the rank & file of our party.

While I do not agree with her candidacy, I will not do anything to harm her chances of winning.
