Muqtada al-Sadr stokes thousands against US-Iraqi Pact

The agreement to extend the U.S. presence in Iraq past the Dec. 31st UN deadline is in danger of not being passed by the Iraqi parliament. In the agreement U.S. troops must leave Iraqi cities by the end of June and be gone by 2012.

The Kurdish bloc has accepted the agreement, fearing for their lives the Sunni Bloc is weary of publicly accepting the agreement, but the Iranian supported Shiite bloc is whipping up anti-U.S. sentiment. I will give you one guess who is stoking the Shiite flames of passion - Muqtada al-Sadr.

From Yahoo News --

"I am with every Sunni, Shiite or Christian who is opposed to the agreement ... and I reject, condemn and renounce the presence of occupying forces and bases on our beloved land," al-Sadr said in a message read to the crowd by a senior aide.

"I am confident that you brothers in parliament will champion the will of the people over that of the occupier ... Do not betray the people," al-Sadr said in his message, as the crowd chanted "Occupier, get out," and "No, no to America. No, no to the agreement." More...

Notice how Sadr is only now speaking against U.S. forces as we are looking to decrease troop sizes in Iraq and turn our efforts to terrorists in Pakistan & Afghanistan. When pressure was exerted on him by US forces and Al-Maliki, also a Shiite, Sadr behaved like a good little boy.

Even when they were silent - Sadr and his followers have been a constant threat to peace and security in the region. And let's not forget the cause of many of our soldiers being killed or injured.

Sadr should have been taken care of a long time ago - it would only take one well placed bullet from our highly trained snipers. It would have saved countless lives and sent a message to anyone thinking about replacing him as head Shiite jihadikaze!
