Mayor Ken Patton has taken an indefinite leave of absence, turning over control of the city to Council President Richard Balbier, the suburb's law director said today.
While declining to give specifics, Law Director Tom Shaper said Patton, 57, began his leave Friday.
"He's extremely stressed," Shaper said. Patton's surprise move came "after a discussion with some close confidants. The mayor told them he wanted to get his personal issues resolved."
Shaper added that Patton had become increasingly worried about the worsening financial problems in Brooklyn and was concerned how it would affect residents. (PD)
Patton could have just acted like Obama and read a book for elementary school children when he wants to hide from his responsibilities. But no, he plays the Democrat Iraqi card - cut & run!
